FOR SALE LH Hoyt Carbon Element bow

Dang it. Why does it have to be left handed? Missed out on a good Carbon Element that was all set up the way I wanted it because I was in a remote area mentoring kids on a turkey hunt and my phone wouldn't connect to Facebook messenger. Good luck with the sale!

Where do you PM for those? This board is a community, so membership and participation is encouraged. Nothing wrong with that. If a non-member messaged me, I'd 100% defer to the members who spoke up and wanted my item.

    Looking to team up

Wish I had more points because, well, I might actually draw an early archery bull tag and if Lv2Hnt vouches for you, you must be a good guy to share an elk camp with. Best of luck in the draw!
  9. I got this stove second-hand 2 years ago - it was barely used and it worked fine. Used on one previous hunting trip, no problem. Tested last week before leaving for elk camp and it worked fine. Stove failed on our hunt last week and I don't need another project. If you like to tinker, come and get this stove that's in great cosmetic shape. It may need a part or whatever. $100 stove for the gas you spend to come and get it and there's probably enough gas in the reservoir to make up for that. Has box and instructions. I'm sure a mechanically-inclined person can get it working fine in no time. First pic is Coleman pic, second is actual stove. Call or text: 6ohtwo-77oh-oh135. Located in Chandler. Not holding it for anyone - first one to come by gets it. Stove has been adopted to someone who can fix it.
  10. Selling a pre-owned Sitka Core Balaclava in Optifade Open Country - $25. One size fits all. I've only worn this a few times but I can't get used to shooting my bow while wearing a balaclava - it messes with my anchor point too much. No rips or stains - great shape. It's very warm as it's lined with poly/fleece. These go for $40 brand new + shipping. Live in Chandler and am occasionally in other parts of the Valley. Pic is off the Sitka site. Can take and text pix of actual article if needed. 6oh2-77oh-oh135

Unit 5 Hopi (left over tag)

The notes in the regs for that hunt tell you how to get permission from the Hopis and the boundaries. They'll give you the gate lock combination and sell you a map (or at least that's how it was in 2010) and the camping info. Flatlander is right that you can camp off the ranch - we wanted to be as close as possible. The East and West areas are right across the highway from each other and both can be easily reached from the designated camp area. Have a good hunt!

Unit 5 Hopi (left over tag)

SMH at how some people don't read the regs. Some misinformation on this thread by a few guys - as you said, azdonw, it's NOT for the whole unit - just for the East & West Sunset areas. Fellas, the rifle hunts are limited opp areas in that specific area but the archery hunts are unit wide. I pulled this same East/West Sunset leftover in 2010 and at that time it was an "Any Elk" hunt. The Game Officer I spoke to before the hunt told me to shoot the first elk I saw - even if it was a calf - because the elk would be few and far between. I spent 3 days scouting beforehand and saw 1 cow. The Hopi tribe makes everyone camp in designated areas down by the base of the West mountain. With a little bit of shooting light left on the 2nd day of the hunt, I saw a nice 6x6 bull with a smaller OLD bull with twisted antlers and a cow about 800-900 yards away. I ran uphill to get in shooting range and, out of breath, came around a juniper face to face with the big bull at about 50 yards. When I tried to get my shooting sticks positioned, he bolted along with the others and I didn't have a shot. If I hadn't been carrying the sticks, I could've had an offhand shot. Last (and only) elk I saw on that hunt, but I did pop a tire on Day 5 ( the roads up those 2 mountains are ROUGH SOBs) and decided to pack it in. Found 2 matching sheds that I believe belonged to the big bull about 20 feet apart, but that's the only thing I came home with (pic with my dad, who isn't a small guy). I applied for other leftover tags this year and it's not a great tag, but while that all might sound negative - you're hunting elk this year in AZ, which is more than I can say. Good luck on your hunt!

Elk hunting tips for a new elk hunter

Some real good advice in here for the newb (I still consider myself one, since I've drawn one archery bull tag, back in 2012) but the best IMO was to go in silent and work the wind. Start working on the calls now. Elk sound similar to each other but not all the same. I've heard bulls I was sure was another hunter because it came out of a Primo's tube without any character - then saw the bull making that bugle. If you're not getting the hang of the call, definitely don't use it unless you want to give your position away and spook the elk. Even if you're nailing it, I'd use it very sparingly. I'll bugle in the dark to get a location on bulls. I'll cow call to a morning bugle on occasion, but otherwise I only call to stop a bull for a shot and after. Never cow call in the daylight without being in a set up - I had 2 bulls come running in when I did that and I wasn't positioned and ready for them. If you're going solo, consider a decoy to place behind you by 30-40 yards. As to the latest branch in this thread: I'm fine with anyone who doesn't want to post pics, although I do enjoy seeing pics of giant dead bulls. Could care less about the guy gripping and grinning, unless it's someone I know. I enjoy seeing pics of giant bulls that are still alive even more. You might want to change your name to giantassbullmagnet, though. Just sayin'.
  14. My folks sold their house in Sun Lakes, so this has got to go ASAP. It will be listed on Craigslist for $150, cheaper to a CWT member. This fridge works really well but has some blemishes on the handles (picture 4). It's not hooked up to water right now, so no way to test the dispensers. Their deadbeat renter moved out in the middle of the night a while back, owing a couple months rent and left the fridge, which was way too big for the small kitchen. Measurements: 67.5" h x 35 3/4 w x 34 1/4"d. It's a big boy, but will work fine as a primary or secondary fridge/freezer. No delivery and probably not much help loading. Unfortunately, I'll be there for a little while but I have to work today. 6oh2- seven70- oh 135
  15. He wants to use Texas as the model. Yikes. I'm undecided who I'll vote for in 2016, but since I enjoy hunting public land I do know it won't be Ted Cruz. http://www.idahostatesman.com/news/local/environment/article64362377.html

Ted Cruz wants feds to dump all puclic land

I sure didn't mean for this to turn into a debate over candidates as much as point out what I see as a serious flaw in the Cruz stance. Rubio feels the same way, for the record, and it seems most of the party is heading that direction. If you look at who is putting money into their coffers, it's pretty easy to see who is buying that particular policy. I won't vote for Trump. His record on issues (just about any of them) is erratic at best. A complete flip-flop for the most part, depending on the way the wind blows. I appreciate his willingness to say anything on his mind, but I appreciate just as much someone who has the powers of their own convictions and stands firm in those beliefs, so it won't be Trump. At this point, the GOP is between a rock and a hard place - many dyed-in-the-wool Republicans are threatening to abandon the party if they "pull a fast one" but the party doesn't want a loose cannon at the helm and they don't think he can beat Godzillary. I'm not advocating for any Dem candidate, but the idea that "they're going to take our guns" is a ludicrous scare tactic. The same kind that drives gun and ammo prices up and benefits a select few. The same that was whispered when Bill Clinton was elected. The same when Obama was elected. Somehow I still have my guns. As the owner of several guns, the feds don't have any information on more than 90% of mine and the manpower needed to "take them" simply is beyond their capability. Who and how many people are going to show up to my house, search for and seize them? Multiply that by the millions of Americans who own them = not going to happen. Do we have to safeguard against gun laws that go too far and impinge on our rights down the road? You bet, but you can rest assured nobody is coming to grab the ones you've got.

SOLD*** Columbia Trailhead 20 bike - Reduced to $40

I think he rode this bike from ages 9-13 or 14 but he was pretty short for his age. I'd guess it's more appropriate for kids 7-11.
