im not sure at all why its missing or how, ive seen him 3 times and hes always bedded up. it looks like it was cut off with a saw. which is impossible, but its competely flat from walking on it. self healed like nothing ever happened haha

Haha and no Vowell, just a tad bit on one edge, I made sure to tie his head to his feet and kept a close eye on it, I hit a rock with his antler once and it kinda dinged it up, but not bad at all. Thanks guys, it was sure an adventure I won't forget.

(sad, graphic story to follow) I'm going to start off by saying what a fun/ crazy day this was, My Fiance and i decided to hunt off horseback today. crazy right? especially archery. i figured to carry my bow, and pack on my horse, be able to get off and put a stalk on something would be a WORKOUT. but i was wrong. about an hour into this adventure riding threw some flats, i just happen to glance over to see a deer bedded under a tree. pulled up my binoculars and saw it was for sure a buck. So i stepped off my horse, walked over about 20 yards and ranged him at 50 yards facing to me still bedded down. i put my pin right at the base of the neck and let it go. well of course the horses jumped, (keep in mind these are Rodeo horses NOT hunting horses) lol. so the buck started to get up right as the arrow got to him and and that's when the horrible part of the day started. the arrow impacted low in the stomach. i gave him about 20 min to find a spot to bed down, and knew it would take days to die if i left him alone so i went after him very slowly and 10 min later i found him standing at 40 yards behind a tree. I drew back as he started to walk into the clearing and let it go, well he turned right, and my arrow hit right behind the shoulder and passed threw the front of him, i probably hit something really good because right away there was good blood EVERYWHERE. gave him another 15 min, then slowly followed the blood trail to walk 10 yards from him bedded up, staring at me then got to his feet, walked out 20 yards and i put an arrow threw both lungs, i accidentally aimed a little high cause i thought he was farther. then he circled around and ran right at me and piled up under a tree 6 yards away. but that's not it. he picked his head up and stared at me for a good 5 minutes and id had enough. i sank ONE more arrow into his heart and shortly after he kicked out. NOW its over. once i drag him out of the tree, i realize he is missing about 8" of his left rear leg, which caused him to not grow a whole lot of antler on his right side! apparently this buck was not meant to die yet!! but let me tell you, having horses to drag this guy a mile and a half was definitely a blessing!

Thanks guys. im no trophy hunter by any means. this is a 200" buck for me. desert mule deer hunting is pretty tough to do i have found that out, so when i get my chance i take it

Last night my friend called me and said hey man you want to go hunt in the morning? i said sure lets go to 36A and try our luck. woke up at 5am and it was raining hard, decided to wait till a little later well i ended up falling asleep again waiting for him to call and nothing (turns out he fell asleep waiting for my phone call) so about 10:00 he called me and said well, my bed was comfy and i didnt wanna get up do you want to go now? sure, so off we go. wind blowing like crazy walked around and glassed till about 2 then decided it was a bust. to much wind and nothing is moving, lets go check tracks at the water hole and go from there... 20 min later a buck jumped out in front of the truck and off i went. followed his tracks about 45 yards and i was standing on a wash bank looking around for the next steps and i happen to look up to my right and there was a doe standing there about 20 yards. waited for something else to move.. here comes 2 more does one stopped at the other and one came right to me! 10 yards. (i am in the wide open) she goes up the bank and to the other side and here comes the buck.. he comes to 20 yards and stands behind a doe. then stays in the bushes all the way to 74 yards fairly comfortable shot and i let one fly. well it smacks a branch i didnt see and he jumps and the arrow hits just to the right of him. so i walk up and make sure it was a clean miss, no blood on the arrow. so i walk about 100 yards and stop and theres a doe looking at me about 60 yards away. then she turns and just goes on with her business.. then i look up and about 80 yards out i see more does....... then the buck i just missed! they come right to me.. 40 yards behind bushes.. no clear shot they come down and around and he stands 42 yards broad side who could miss that right.. let one fly and hits about every branch on its way to him he spins my arrow misses and goes up the wash bank.. his doe goes like 20 yards behind me and is standing there.. and he comes walking back to me. 40 yards....30 yards... 22 yards with some little branches in my way and THA WAPP! stuck him! call my friend and said hey man i just smoked one. so we give him some time. go up and find my blood coated arrow and the tracking begins. well he took us on a loop but only found little blood (at this point i was like ooooh man.) drop into the next little wash and there he was. dead as could be double lunged him. then we realized we only went about 100 yards maybe.. and the better news was we were only 200 yards from the road!! well.. here he is!!

Good job man, i told you there were alot of bucks in that area! glad you connected with one! after i leave lol but im gunna go give it another shot up there or in 37a but have not decided. good deer bud!

i have 2 pics on my trail cam of them fighting 3 weeks apart. they are awesome i will try to get them from my other computer and upload them

i will be out there tomorrow afternoon till january 11th. ill PM you my number and if you want to meet up and see where each other will be so we are not on the same herd i would be ok with that haha i dont want to be stalkin something your after. just in case we are in the same area, i dont know though where i have been noone has parked close or been spotted so maybe i found a good spot where noone goes. besides the few human foot prints on my way in

M.R.E's! wait do they even make them things any more? when my dad was in the military he got them all the time.. but i havnt seen them in years, i think i was 9 the last time i found one and it was 13 years old lol still good though:)

oh man i agree with you, i had a 160 buck comin in he was 80 yards i was waiting for him to come 20 more yards and out of nowhere a quail hunter blasted his scatter gun above me and i cant tell you exxaaactly where i hunt but its not off the main road but there are some good deer if u park between saddle brooke road and oracle jct and walk in. you will see deer
