Don't be too hard on yourself, I got my first coues at age 57. I'm now 61 years young and looking for a 100 incher this year.

Sweet, good job.

You've got to learn to carry "mole skin" in your pack and use it as soon as you feel a hotspot forming.

Let's see who posts first results.... With pics.

It doesn't count without pics. -
Wilcox Meat packers has a pick up / drop off spot in Tucson near Ajo and Countryclub. They've always done right by me.

Rights are like muscles... If you don't exercise them, you'll lose them. It is YOUR responsiblity to know your rights and exercise them. When we lose the right to keep and bear firearms it will be our own fault for giving them up one right at a time.

Hopfully I'll have a story worth telling.

Who is hunting the sunburn special this weekend?

I have a 4x4 160" muley hanging on the wall that my dad killed in 1957 on thanksgiving day. I don't think the hunts started before November 15. -
If flinching continues to be a problem, youmight consider downsizing to a sweet 257 roberts or a 243. There's been a ton of deer killed with both. The only limit is range, you'll have to keep it to 400 yards or less, but people on this site kill some every year with a bow so it can be done. One other posible sulotion is to spend more (lots) time shooting a 22 compared to the amount of time shooting the bigger guns. In the meantime keep buying guns, just like money in the bank.

I met your dad Monday at Bull Basin Archery shop. We had a good time talking all about the hunt. Good times for both of you. My son comes down from Seattle for the bow elk hunt every year. One of these years we'll tag one. Enjoy the time you get with him, I'm sure he does.

If you have the money, buy it. A 25-06 should be a great coues gun. If not, no worrys. Guns will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no guns.

Just a quick question... When do you start eating bunnies? Do you ever eat jacks, or just cottontails? Have to wait six weeks before my deer hunt and I'm going nuts. Time to break out the 10-22. Thanks.

Thanks guys; thats what I remembered. Never eat rabbits killed in a month without an R, and only after the first hard freeze. The only problem with that is down here some years we don't get a hard freeze. I haven't hunted quail in 35 years, not since my shorthair was poisoned. I get mad all over again if I think about. Dammit, now I'm mad again.

I seem to remember a story in the Tucson paper many years ago about some anti's in the Catalina's, that pushed a big desert ram around the mountain right to the hunter. I believe Bill Q. might have written the story.

I can't suggest putting it on the outside window sill like I did... someone helped themselves to a nice 6 point. That said 20# mono would be my minimum weight for anything hanging above anyone's head.

After seeing the dirt kick up a few feet away, then hearing the gunshot, I ALWAYS have orange on me during the rifle hunts.

Great Job! Just a little surprized to see him still in velvet this late into Oct.

scope mounting and bore sighting

Sounds like you might have the wrong bases for your rifle. Happened to me once. -
Is the weatherby a 300 weatherby mag or 300 win mag? I ask because I believe the vanguard was offered in both calibers.
-
Got the primary rifle dialed in. Picking up a new to me back-up. Win. mod 70 (70's or 80's version) 270, then need to put a scope on it and take it to the range. I've got until Nov 30 though. Good luck to all who DON'T have a tag in 34A.

Don't know if it's real, but it sure sounded like it. Very funny.

It looks like a bear in the last pic. Thought I saw three deer with one being a nice buck in the "guess how many" pic. Sounds like you had a great day.

I'm planning to go back to last years honey hole and hope it's still hot. Too tough of a climb to go to more than once a year. If it doesn't work out, then I'm probably SOL.

I'm real happy with mine. Just got the custom turrent for it. Need to get the gong set up and try it out. I printed out a copy of the chart and taped it to the back side of my cheek piece for quick reference.
