I hunted the last week of the hunt. Had spikes and raghorns galore within bow range but felt there were bigger bulls to be had. I called in a nice 5x5 but had cattle blow that at 75 yds. Walked up on a big boy on the last morning but the extreme wind got me at 40 yards while waiting for him to offer anything other than a texas heart shot. Actually saw more bulls than cows. Lots of fun though, maybe next time.

I always thought that 1500 ft.lbs was the cutoff, sooo anything out to 500 should be good. That being said, bullet placement is much more important. The 270 is a GREAT cartraige.

I started at 218 July 28 when the Docter told the wife I was pre-diabetic. This morning (after a week of elk hunting) I tipped the scales a 204. Looking for 165 by next Dec. I'm hitting 62 this Dec. so I'm not rushing things. I cut out almost all sugar and most breads. I do stairs at work ( 8 floors worth) and ride a bike at least 6 miles every other day. Weight lifting sucks and I know I won't do it. I know where I'm going for coues this Dec. and it ain't easy. Very high and very steep.

He'd be dead, don't care what he scored, I'd kill him, any day, any time.

I'd think that the eye guard would make a nice knife handle. Cool pencil holder.

I suffered a break-in about 5 years ago. Found out that the rider i put in never got processed. I received only $1000 for six rifles, three pistols and three shotguns, including my fathers custom 257. The police have recovered only one and I had to buy it back from the ins. co. and they tried to charge high blue book for it. I don't know who I'm madder at the thieves or the ins. co.

I have and use a laser rangefinder for two very good (to me) reasons. 1. To tell me if the game is beyond my self imposed range limit. 2. to allow me to make the most accurate shot on the game possible. I don't own and have no desire to own any night vision gear. I don't poach so I have no need for poachers gear. Thermal imaging would be nice for recovering game after dark though. I bought a GPS after missing my truck in the dark by 50 yards and wandering around for 4 hours. Never again. That said, everyone needs to decide for themselves. I have a friend who refuses to shoot anything with a scope, and another who will only use a bow. To each his (or her) own.

Elkhorn ranch is as good a place to start as any.

Fabulous buck, but we want the whole story.

Holy Cr@p!!! What a Great Buck!

Or you could just build a big fire, play loud country music, and every few minutes shoot a couple of rounds from your pistol into the air. That would keep me away, don't care how sore or hungry I was.

I'm just dying here. I can only get one week and my son can't get away until the second week of the hunt. Hopefully the bulls will be rutting like crazy by then.

My hunting partner uses a 300 wby, and he loves it. I shoot a 300 WSM. and I love it. It's just a 308 or 30-06 on steriods. Just get a limbsaver recoil pad and you'll be fine.

I have a Win. m 70 in 300 wsm. Kicks like a mule with about a foot of muzzle jump. I want to put a muzzle brake on it. Does anyone have any experence with the BOSS muzzle brake? Winchester put it on the mod. 70 a couple of years after I bought mine. Thoughts? Thanks.

I think I'd stick with something natural. either a fawn or doe bleat, but not a doe in heat bleat except during the rut. I'm looking for a "it's just me" sound. Don't want to chase them off. Good luck.

Started out at 218 Aug 1. wanting to get to 165 by next dec. 14. Climbiing stairs, 8 flights daily, biking 6 mi. 3 times a week. cut out most carbs, all breads, lots of salads and dark green veggies. Blehh... Tipped the scale at 211 this morning. Its slow going but it took 61 years to get this big, if I get to my desired weight in under 18 monthes I'll be golden.

Things your huntin buddies do that drive you nuts : )

Mine insists on dragging my old butt to the top of the highest peak to glass and then even higher and further from the truck to kill some little scrawny 110 inch little coues deer. Guess who I'll be huntingt with again this year. -
Haven't been there in a couple of years but there were some nice bucks in the flats closer to the highway. Hard to glass there though. Good luck.

I hope the area around Arivaca lake got rain. The lake is too low to launch a boat in. It needs a bunch of rain.

Reminds me of that teenage girl in Hawaii that lost her arm to shark while surfing. That didn't seem to slow her down for too long.

This September will be my fifth archery bull hunt,... still hoping for the first kill. Only a big 6x6 will do,... until any legal bull steps into range..lol

I'm thinking about having a rifle built to replace one the thieves got. Is there anyone in Tucson?
