    KIMBER MONTANA 8400 325 WSM

I'm selling my Kimber Montana 8400 325 WSM. Lightweight mountain rifle that packs a punch but doesn't kick too bad! Has had trigger job and snaps crisp but light. Composite stock has a few nicks and scratches having seen duty, otherwise in excellent shape. I've used it on everything from Elk to Coues! Comes with rings, 3 1/2 boxes of ammo, and extra brass. I'm asking $975

    Grand Canyon Mulie

It's not a "hunting" photo, but I thought it was pretty cool. This was my Grandpa taken somewhere near the Grand Canyon sometime in the late 40's or early 50's.

    Mike Fabritz paintings?

Does anyone know where a guy can buy a Mike Fabritz painting or print? I love his work, especially a couple of his coues deer paintings, but I can't seem to find any for sale.
  6. I was in the Coconino this weekend scouting for my upcoming hunts. The archery elk hunt was underway and if I didn't know any better I would think the Travel Management Plan had been repealed. People (hunters) were camped anywhere they pleased (even down and off of "closed" roads), and closed roads were being traveled regularly. I didn't see a forest service vehicle all weekend, nobody was enforcing anything, and it appeared most hunters were totally apathetic regarding these new laws. I don't agree with the plan, but I had intended to comply. Now I'm thinking that if I were to comply - I'm going to be one of the only ones ... a "chump". What do YOU plan to do? Comply or ignore?

Travel management - what are YOU going to do?

"I too HATE the new Travel Management Plans, but if you are going to implement a "plan" or a "law" you need to make every effort to ENFORCE it. Otherwise all that is being accomplished is the frustration of the lawbiding folks feeling like the only ones suffering penalty are the ones in compliance. Grrr..." Here is a very realistic scenario that I'm afraid I'll face here in a few weeks. There is a huge amazing basin in 6a that I plan to hunt. Overlooking that basin is the perfect glassing spot. To reach that glassing spot I will have to walk probably close to a mile in the dark (I have no problem with that), but I suspect that while I walk, I will watch the lights of quads driving the "closed" road that goes within a couple hundred yards of the spot. Let's say that regardless of how we get there, we are all there glassing the basin. That's fine. However, THEY have a significant advantage closing the gap on anything glassed up. While I make my way back to my vehicle on the nearest "open" road, they are well on their way to reposition for a stalk. I just want a level playing field! Again... I hate the Travel Management Plan, but if they have it then they need to ENFORCE it, otherwise guys like me are screwed.

Travel management - what are YOU going to do?

I will comply also, but it is sure a hard pill to swallow. There are areas that used to be accessed by a long drive, park, and then a long walk that are now for all practical purposes out of range for a day hunt because the roads are supposedly closed. However ... there will still be guys hunting these old favorite spots as if nothing has changed. I'm going to feel significantly cheated. Not to mention how utterly ridiculous it will feel to be packing an animal significantly further because that road only a short distance away - doesn't exist although people will be driving up and down it. I too HATE the new Travel Management Plans, but if you are going to implement a "plan" or a "law" you need to make every effort to ENFORCE it. Otherwise all that is being accomplished is the frustration of the lawbiding folks feeling like the only ones suffering penalty are the ones in compliance. Grrr...
  9. Here's my problem ... I have both an October bull elk tag and an October coues tag in unit 6a! The hunts are at the same time (coues hunt last a few days longer). How would you approach these hunts? Focus primarily on the elk first and move to coues after the bull is down and dead? Or find a place where there is a good chance of glassing either? I don't have very much experience in 6a and would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

    Online draw

I wonder the same thing. Do other states have the same sorts of issues with their systems? Online application and draw is not a new concept ... some states have been doing it without a hitch for years ... right?

AKC Yellow Lab - free to good home

2 year old AKC Yellow Lab. She has not been spayed and has had 2 litters of gorgeous pups - thus our reason for giving her up. I have a male chocolate lab and I can't keep them apart. She would make someone a real fine companion and she's a good mom if you want to go that direction with her. I'm in the Dewey-Humboldt area. Call 928-533-3866 BTW ... Her name is Marley and she has the personality to match. =)

AKC Yellow Lab - free to good home

She was born in the Valley so I reckon she's American. Seriously... I don't know how to tell. Would it be on her registration papers?

    Any Ideas to catch waterdogs?

Back in the day my brother-in-law and me used to seine them with a two man minnow seine. It worked well.

AKC Yellow Lab - free to good home

She's energetic, but not hyper. She's for the most part grown out of chewing, but it's best if she has something that she's ALLOWED to chew. She's also very smart... she is capable of opening every gate on my place and has let my livestock out on occasion to play with them. I now have to put snap clips on all the gate latches.
