Who says you need a Dec. tag to kill biggin's?
thunderbolt replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Nice buck Jim!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations on a beautifull buck and a great story to go with it. -
Me and a couple of buddies headed out opening day and at first light glassed up this buck and and a bigger buck. Well long story short my friend put him down with a 450 yd shot. 4 hours of heck hiking his deer out really left me hurting for the next couple days. We ran out of water half way to the vehicle. My friend rough measured him and he hit right at 104 inches. We still have 2 more tags to fill. Congratulations to all who have filled there tags. Sorry about the blood guys.

It wasn't my intent to catch that pic but, it was a great pic anyways. all three of us have been out since opening day and have seen a million doe and fawns but no bucks. I'll see if i can get some more pics of the antlers. Good luck guys on the last day of your hunts!

Last year coming down from a mountain, i came around a sharp corner and there in the middle of the road was a coues doe picking up a rabbit with it mouth. The deer gave us the "deer in headlights" look and dropped the rabbit and ran off. Very weird, the rabbit looked dead. I still don't have any ideas on why the deer would do that.

Went camping this weekend with my kids, mother and father, sister, brother in law and there two kids. My mother has not camped with any of the family in about 10- 15 years because of an illness she has and she's going blind. She gets cold very easy and really doesn't like roughing it in the wilderness anymore. To make her comfortable I took my camping trailor up to east fork. The second night she asked if I had a heater in the trailor and i told her yes and i would get it running. She asked if there is a possiblity of affixiation because the use of a propane heater. I told her i really didn't know, so i cracked a couple of the windows in the trailor to be on safe side. That whole evening i was worried about what my mom had asked me so i didn't have a good nights sleep. My question is, can their be a possiblity of carbon monoxide posioning from a propane heater? If so how do you prevent it? And, what kind of changes do i need to make to my trailor to keep it from happening? Although it was my mothers first trip in many years in her condition, she is already planning another trip next year. We (the family) had a fantastic time having all of us there. It was like being kids again.

curious about safety in camping trailor
thunderbolt replied to thunderbolt's topic in Optics and tripods
Thanks for your responses guys. I really like the idea of using a carbon monoxide detector, really simple fix. Its a really old camping trailer, a 1968 holiday rambler. the furnace was pulled out and a propane wall heater was put in. I'll be checking wally world this evening to check them out. Thanks again. -
I finally broke down and got my kids a pse spyder, max poundage is 20 lbs. Took my kids the other day to wally world and was gonna get them a 22 rifle to target practice. While waiting the kids asked if instead of a rifle if i could get them a bow. Well it worked and i broke down and got them a bow. they were just flinging arrows with out a peep and not using the sights. More than anything i was happy to see them excited to do something that there dads loves to do. here are some first time pics from today. My daughters are already asking to take them rabbit hunting.

I was in 27 on the big lake turnoff heading towards eastfork this weekend camping with family (not hunting). We camped at eastfork and at night would head to a spot where i camped at when i did have a tag. Took my sister and her husband so they could here some bugling, well all we heard in a 45 minute sit was one bugle. I was disapointed cause this is something they wouldn't here for a long time cause they are city slickers. went two nights is a row and hardly heard any bugling. One thing was for sure the nights were a bit chili. good luck to those that have tags

Man, that is so cool. I had my daughter and my girlfriends daughter in a blind with me last year and a bear came in and circled us. The bear left and 10 minutes later came back and walkd around us again. I was a bit nervous cause i had the kids with me, so i started yelling and shaking the blind. Finally he left and the kids were really relieved. I even got it all on film. The kids really laugh about it now when they see it on tv.
