That is absolutely fantastic. Congrats to you and her both. Great deer too.

Sun Devil- I agree with you. I would like to add that during these discussions, it serves absolutely no purpose what so ever to bring politics, religion, race, etc. etc. All that does is get people on the defensive, and they address the comments on politics, religion, race, etc. etc.. What they forget about is the topic that is being discussed. Hope that makes sense.

Ernesto, un buck muy bueno. Congrats and one heck of a trophy. I can only dream to harvest a deer like this some day. If no one minds me asking, I haven't been hunting very long and am wondering what a hunt in Mexico costs.

Non-typical, you sure did miss a doosey. It was like a mobile home fire. It started small, but got big and gone in a hurry.

These are just a few pics from one day down in 36a. It was way worse than these pics show. These pics were from 2008. Haven't been back there since. Don't plane on going back. It made me sick.

That is so awesome. I can only hope for the time I can close the deal. The double whammy deal. I haven't been hunting long, and this is a story I hope to post someday. Congrats.

That is one awesome buck. Congrats!!! I have only been bow hunting for about a year. I can only dream of harvesting a deer like this. WOW.

That is awesome! I tried to do the same thing January 7, 2012. I was chasing a toad of a mule deer when I saw a small heard of pigs. Broke off from the deer and closed the deal on my first archery kill. Been eating the javilina for about a week now, and it's tasty. Pretty awesome adventure I would guess you had.(Deer and Javalina in the same week). Good times and congrats again.

Nice buck. What Unit? Thanks for the pics. Congrats too.

Will do. Thanks. Those pics do that pig so much more justice, the other ones we had it's legs scrunched together for cell phone pics. The pics of it hanging were with a bad a.. Camera.

January 7, 2012 unit 33 went to attempt my first archery kill. Spotted a nice 4X4 mule deer buck. Couldn't get closer than 150yards. Found a nice water hole with a man made blind from weeds and tree branches. After sitting there for 20 or 30 minutes a single pig came in and before I could draw back, it took off. 15 minutes later a coyote came in and was under a mesquite tree 35 yards away. Let an arrow fly, and killed that mesquite tree. It didn't drop. Must of missed the vitals. The coyote took off too. About an hour later spotted a javalina in the water bathing. He came out, with a heard of 5. They were coming to me, the first one to come into the clearing gave me a braodside shot. 34 yards. Drew back, thump! Then arrow was in the ground. I walked over, and it was red. Followed a really nice blood trail about 100 yards into the wash. My buddy Scott and his wife Anita rolled out to 33 and assisted in the Find. Anita yelled out, got him. It was awesome! Thanks for reading. Long time reader. First post.

Here are a couple pics that Donna took. Thanks Donna, great pics. And thanks to Scott for helping me skin this sucker, had never done this before. Just like the title says, first archery kill.

Congrats, awesome pics. I'm jealous I didn't have someone next to me with a camera. Job well done.

I would glass the bottom of canyons and washes. In the thick stuff. If the rain stops, keep your eyes peeled. They should start moving if the rain stops. I believe you're right, they aren't going to be moving much. Good luck to your daughter. Hope to see pics real soon.

Thanks. How is Yuma? I go down there many times a year for work. Best Western Inn Suites at the Yuma Palms mall.

The story I posted was seriously only part of my day on Saturday. It was actually a lot more exciting. And we saw a lot more game than what I wrote about. I was just worried people would loose interest if it was too long. To sum it up in short. I came 92 yards close to closing the "double whammy". Put a stalk on a very nice 3x3 muley on my way out with the pig in the back of the truck. I guess my buddy told me when I got back from stalking him, I was chasing the smaller one. He said 50yards away, was the big buck from the morning. Needless to say, it was the most exciting day hunting I have ever experienced. I didn't mention the heard of 25 we spotted, or the 8 doe coming from all directions chasing off a nice fox, or seeing that fox Sunday morning dead by the water hole. Looked like the doe caught up and stomped it. It had no bullet/arrow holes, or blood on it. Thanks for reading.

I have attended the site tour twice, and met with the folks from Rosemont many times. There will be a need for approximately 2,000 "construction" workers to build this mine and a couple hundred once it's built to run it and maintain it. This mine is going to create jobs, not just the construction jobs. I would encourage anyone, anyone that wants info about this mine to take the tour. Contact Rosemont thru their website. Instead of hearing peoples "opinios", and not facts, folks should really go to the site, see it for them selves and develop their own opinions based on their own thoughts. If there was copper to be mined in the middle of the desert off I-8 between Yuma and Gila Bend, I would say build a copper mine there. Not in the Santa Ritas. But,,,,, this is where the copper deposits are. Thanks for reading.

Jimmyc replied to arizonaelitefreak's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Good morning all, headed down to 36 B this evening. This is my 3rd year hunting the little grey sneaky ghosts. Glassed up a couple forkies last year. Never squeezed a round off. Year before last bagged my first trophy coues. Had antlers the size of my pinkyfingers. It was ok, cuz from here on out, they can only get better. Does anyone have any suggestions????
