Scope Magnification for Variable Scopes
AxisWorks LLC replied to sjvcon's topic in Long Range Shooting
I typically run 4-16 range on big game rifles and 6-24 range on varmint rifles. -
Has anyone used an IPad for checking trail cameras? Seems like a great idea. Light weight, large screen and some of the best resalution out there. Just can't seem to get a good look on those little camera screens.

AxisWorks LLC replied to AxisWorks LLC's topic in The Campfire
Looking at the match results there were exactly 160 shooters there last night. Took 2 hours to run through 4 stages. The number of shooters only get higher as the tempeture gets cooler. I didnt notice any bugs. Speedy. -

Was wondering if anyone on CWT also shoots Tues. Night Steel out at Rio Salado. Speedy. -
Ok here is my $0.02 on this. My wife will always carry a wheel gun. (Revolver) Lets face it for most of us our ladies do not shoot as much as we do. Semi autos malfunction and require training and practice to clear malfuntions quickly. I have also noticed that allot of ladies have trouble working the slide on semi auto's. A small framed easily concealable semi auto handgun usually has a short slide, barrel etc. In order to stop the slide from slamming all the way back against the frame in that short distance recoil springs are usually a higher poundage than a longer slide in the same caliber therefore making it more difficult to "rack the slide" or clear a malfunction. A revolver will always go bang. There are no safetys to worry about just point and shoot. If it dosnt go off they will do what is natural and pull the trigger again rotating to the next cylinder for another try. That being said I also believe the revolver should be both double and single action. Shooting single action is above and beyond more accurate than making a double action shot 9 out of 10 times. I believe they should have this option especially since we have taught them the first thing to do is seak cover whenever possible right? obviously if they dont have the time to cock the hammer they dont need to just point squeeze. The problem with a double/single action revolver is the hammer must be exposed and has the potential to hang up while being drawn from a purse, pocket, clothing etc. This is why so many prefer to carry the "hammerless" double action revolvers limiting themselves to that long nasty trigger pull everytime. Again that being said my wife and I have found what we believe to be the perfect CCW gun for her to carry. It is the J framed Smith and Wesson 686 Bodygaurd .38 special. It is a small lightweight single and double action revolver with a shrouded hammer that eliminates any snagging.

Tues. Night Steel @ Rio Salado(Update with video from last night)
AxisWorks LLC replied to AxisWorks LLC's topic in The Campfire
Here is a clip I recorded last night for you guys that might be interested in trying it out. I hope it it gives you a better idea of what its like. There is also a good example of what happens when you get to busy preparing for deer season and neglect cleaning your gun causing a malfunction. On this stage 2 hits on each steel are mandatory, bowling pins are not but will deduct -2 sec. for each pin nocked off the wood table. -

POST PICS OF YOUR RELOADING SETUPS
AxisWorks LLC replied to AxisWorks LLC's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Thanks reganranch, I do enjoy the time spent out there. Calibers= 9mm .38 super, .38 special / .357 Mag, .40 S&W .45 ACP .45 LC, .223, .22-250, .257 WBY, .270 WSM, .300 WSM, 30-06, .308, .300 WBY, 7MM Mag, 7MM STW. Also .410 & 28 gauge shotshells. I dont really buy factory ammo... Its crazy but I even load my own bulk .223 even though the savings isnt much on .223 plinking stuff. I really just enjoy it. How do you like your STW? My buddy has one in a sendero platform, and i know they were really hot around when the ultra's came out, then they just kinda faded off the shelves. I really like the STW its not quite a barrel burner as the 7 ultramag but quicker then a regular 7 mag. I need to buy one sometime before they get really few and far in between. I just picked the STW up about about 5 weeks ago. Mounted the scope last week and the brass just showed up. Ill have it loaded up this week and paper will die before next. Ill try and keep you posted on the results. Speedy. -

\ I have in the past. Nothing competition wise. I do enjoy the simulated dove shoot they put on just before dove season opens.(speaking of which that should be coming up shortly.) If you ever want to go let me know. I am always up for shooting. -
Anybody used a SwingBlade knife before
AxisWorks LLC replied to az41mag's topic in Other Hunting Gear
Havalon with pointed and rounded tipped blades and a cable saw is the only way I roll anymore. No more stoping to sharpen knives 1/2 way through or lugging around sharpeners anymore for this guy. I had an outdoor edge for a couple years and just couldnt seem to keep it sharp. My $0.02\ Speedy. -
