Tikka has a completely different action than a Rem. 700 I wouldn't assume anything off this info. I know for a fact that the Tally 1 piece 30mm lite bases in medium height will work for a 700 up to and including a Sendero contour barrel with a vortex 30mm tube with 50mm objective. However if your planning on using this this rifle for long range and plan on dialing for trajectory you will be robbing yourself out of up to 1/2 your adjustment range by not using a pitched rail. Depending on cartridge and velocity a simple Balistics calculation will let you know if and how much you will need to reach a certain distance.

Well, long story short my Swarovski binocular adapter fell apart 1/2 way thru my archery bull hunt this year. (the collet inside the adapter fell apart.) Swarovski apparently does not warranty this item at all. Its a no brainier to purchase the Outdoorsman as a replacement. I will be mounting Swarovski 15x56 SLC's to a Manfrotto tripod with Manfrotto 700RC2 Mini pan head. My question is will I need the Tall or short Outdoorsman adapter? Thanks, Speedy.

Outdoorsman tall or short bino adapter?
AxisWorks LLC replied to AxisWorks LLC's topic in Optics and tripods
All great info! Thanks everyone. After some reverse engineering and some time on the lathe I was actually able to repair the Swaro adapter. After my frustration with a broken adapter 1/2 way through a hunt and Swaros "we cant help you" email I was half tempted to pitch it regardless. Then the thought of being able to put the $150 I'd save by fixing it toward something else got the better of me. So its fixed. Thank you all again for the reply's. Speedy. -
Can anyone lend a hand mounting a scope the proper way???
AxisWorks LLC replied to Adicted's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Adicted, I can help you get that scope set up properly. I have all the tools for leveling, lapping and bore sighting. If your willing to bring it to East Mesa send me a PM. If you'd like references on my work those can be provided as well. Speedy, -
Quick update, Purchased and overnight shipped 100 pcs. of Norma brass. (brand new never fired premium brass) F/L sized 5 rounds and just neck sized 5 rounds, all jammed. Ordered and overnight shipped the Larry Willis collet die. F/L sized and colled sized 10 rounds. Jam Jam Jam. Its at Phoenix custom right now getting the chamber polished. Headspace was checked and falls into spec. by the gunsmith there. Should be getting it back on Thursday.

Outdoorsman tall or short bino adapter?

Right on, Thanks for the reply. -
That's great! I originally asked Ryan for a round mini. At first his response was they didn't offer the mini in a round version than a few days latter he emailed that he had talked to his CNC guy and they would make me one. ( that's great customer service) glad to see they added them to their line.
-
429mike, How long have you had the round mini mag? Reason I ask is I requested a round version a few months ago and Ryan actually made one for me and said he has had others request them round.

+1000 for the Muscle Brake! I'm also a fan of the Vias as long as your not shooting prone in the dirt. I believe Ryan over at precision rifles has created the most effective brake that is ported out the sides only resulting in very little to none dirt in your face while shooting prone. Great guy to do business with as well. I had lots of questions and even a design change when considering his brake. He meet all my expectations.

AxisWorks LLC replied to AZ_SAWBUCK's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Will be one of these 2 for sure. #1.) Remington 700 chambered .257 Wby. Mag. Action bedded into an HS precision stock pushing 100gr. Barnes TTSX right at 3541 FPS. Topped with a Nikon Monarch 6-24X50 BDC Scope on Tally one piece Rings. #2) Remington 700 Sendero Chambered .338 RUM. Action bedded, Timney trigger, Topped with a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP on Seekins 30 MOA rail and Seekins 4/6 Rings. (load development still in process) -
Sendero Stock Trigger vs Timney vs Shilen
AxisWorks LLC replied to rossislider's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Rossislider, I run Timney triggers in all my rifles. I also installed the Timney in Huntjunkie's Sendero. It's an easy swap, just 2 dowel pins. Order the trigger that comes with the safety. If you want to bring it over I'd be glad to install it and set it up for you. Send me a PM if your interested. Eric. -
The FL die is bumping the shoulder back .004 When the Norma brass shows up tomorrow I will adjust the die and keep it to .002 On Sat. I loaded up some once fired federal cases. (fired as a factory load once prior.) So this was the first reload on the cases. I loaded 5 cases. The first two were tight after firing but extracted. the 3rd locked up again. I'm begging it think its a combination of the bulge issue and an out of spec. Chamber. We just want to exhaust every plausible case issue before exploring a bad chamber.
-
Muledeerarea33, I have been helping Huntjunkie as he has been struggling with this issue. I believe you are correct in your diagnosis. I have one more question on that theory though. (This is just me thinking out loud.) If the FL die is pushing the brass from the neck towards the headstamp direction and the die does not resize the area slightly I front of the belt creating the bulge, (shown on the posted picture of the dykemed case) wouldn't it still be just as hard to force a resized case back into the chamber as it is pulling one out? I am seeing a .001 Dia. difference between a sized case and a fired case when measuring directly in front of the belt. The cases after being ran through the die chamber with out ANY resistance. Pull the trigger and it almost takes a small hammer to get the bolt back to extract the case. (Hammer not actually used). Thank you for your time in helping us figure this out. Truly appreciated. P.S. the 120 rounds were multiple shooting sessions.

Just bought my conservation license at G&F (mesa office) 2 days ago. Same printed out piece of paper as it has always been. -

Who's still looking to harvest their Bull in 22!
AxisWorks LLC replied to ragingpointoutfitters's topic in Elk Hunting
I am still in unit 22. This is the short version of a very long past 3 days. I shot a 6x6 early Sat. Morning and have been tracking him for 3 full days. I shot him at 7:13 sat. morning. waited 2 hours before tracking blood. at 10:28am I suprisingly bumped him out of his bed. Total of 4 hours afterthe shot. I checked the bed which had about a 3 foot dia. pool of blood and some what appears to be lung material in it.I pulled compleately out at that point and went back in at 3:00pm.l had good blood again leaving his bed most of the way. At about 6:00 PM. He got bumped again out of the bottom of a wash. SOB! I can't believe that bull was still moving! Pulled back out. Next morning picked blood up again and tracked till 2:30 that afternoon to a spot where I believe he bedded the night prior. Lots of blood soaked dirt but no blood leaving that spot. Ran into some guys in the area glassing for their muzzy tag and gave them my phone # incase they saw him. About 45 min. Before dark I get a call. Hey I found your bull. He's up on a ridge in bad shape. I race over there but don't get their before dark. They took a pic of the ridge with their phone and said that bull will be lying dead their in the morning. Long story short I glassed and searched that whole side of the mountain today and found no Bull. -

Who sells Sitka Core Crew short sleeve tee shirts locally?
AxisWorks LLC replied to AxisWorks LLC's topic in Other Hunting Gear
Called them. It amazes me that none of the AZ retailers carry the short sleeve tee's. -
Jim, I hope my experience will be similar to yours this year. I have the full 2 weeks off to enjoy it. Thanks for the reply.

Does anyone know who makes the 2 piece scope coats? This one has a browning logo on it but someone is making them. I think I'd like this over the traditional one piece simply because it stays on the scope and not on the ground where you have to go back for it. lol. Ask me how I know.
