Big Boquillas Ranch Threat or Leverage or Both!
rthrbhntng replied to SirRoyal's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
The Arizona Elk Society is aware and involved in this issue. I can say that there are many moving pieces and it is a very difficult issue and negotiations. We don't hear any info about guides and such but that does not mean there are not outfitters behind the scenes. It is a priority issue for the AZGFD and AES. When we get more info and can release it I will come back and try to communicate it. Access and Elk Management are at stake here, we are talking about 1/2 of the Unit and Elk numbers. Steve -
Toph79, at this point you need to keep calling the AZGFD, there is a problem and they need to keep hearing from the public about this. They tell us they have it under control but we have not seen that. I will try to find a contact there at AZGFD that can shed more light. Steve Clark, Arizona Elk Society

Any Elk talking in 7E still..10 yr old hunt starts Friday

We were up there a week ago Sunday and they were bugling late at night when the moon came out. Did not hear anything in the light of day. Fairly remote area though so may not have been the same everywhere else. -
I have used the X1 exclusively for many years. Great Pack. I was looking for a new pack and could not find one that I was happy with until I stopped at Shooters World and they had an X1 Euro. I have never seen this pack and had to Google it to find out it was a European model rarely sold in the U.S. I bought it and have what I consider the best pack for me. More pockets and very comfortable. Worth the look. Steve

Suspension Connection - http://www.suspensionconnection.com/search_by_vehicle/toyota/tundra/2014?category=Suspension+Lift+Kits Good Company. Make sure to get Bilstien 5100 series shocks for the best ride. Do not go with the spacer unless you are a Boulevard Queen. Do not oversize the tires too much. Many issue arise if you go too tall and big on the tires.

Does anybody NOT buy scent free products for archery hunts?
rthrbhntng replied to naturegirl's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
I pretty much have bow hunted since I started hunting. I have spent lots of time in the woods hunting, scouting, photographing and taking video. My take - The scent free wash is good but you must put the clothes, immediately, in a zip lock. Using scent destroying spray and especially powder helps. Using the scent free wipes helps. Using cover scent helps. I use the natural plants rubbed on and it helps. If you are challenging a mature representative of the species, and usually his girl friends, at close range THE WIND IS YOUR BEST FRIEND. My thoughts are that if I get in a situation where you need just a few more seconds to be successful the above products will help. Many times during hunts those extra seconds are the difference between the quarry blowing out and success. I am not obsessive but I know what works for me from experience. Steve -
I would stay with Verizon and get the booster.

There are many different ones. They have the high dollar for your truck that work if you are within 50 ft or so. I had the high dollar one that you used a tab to velcro to the phone. Got the $100 cradle, you use in the truck and put your phone in the cradle. The cradle one works just as good and the others. If I had the money I would get the new style so anyone in the immediate area could use it.

What model is the Stihl chainsaw??

+1 on Wilson, had the high dollar one and now have this one. Use it a bunch in the White Mountains. Wilson - Sleek 4G - Antenna signal amplifier/charger/holder

Just a comment. The Kodiaks are great tents but you might look at the 12 X 9. If I could use the slightly smaller I would opt for it since there are some great accessory additions like the side room that you can't use with the others. Adding a 8 X 8 canopy with sides to the tent is a huge improvement in weather and storage.

Check out AZ Elk Water Projects on Facebook for the progress on restoring water catchments in Units 22 and 23. We should have 24 done by the end of this weekend. -
Viair is the best thing going I have the 400p and it is great. If I did it again I would get the 440p, much more CFM. I have 35" tires. There are many others that work but it is like buying a Honda generator over the Champion brand. Each will get the job done. I don't drink beer so I don't like the long waits. ONe piece of advice, if using the Viair you will find that the hose end on the compressor gets VERY hot. They are recommended with a 33% duty cycle. That means you need to cool the pump every now and then. I don't cool or stop mine and I have gone through a few hoses. When it gets real hot the heat transfers to the hose and it pops.

Explorer you are right about the dirt tanks, we have seen new, hobby, ranchers come in and dig tanks right past the clay bottom and then stand there and wonder why they don't hold water. Others hit bedrock and think it will hold. Crazy stuff. The AES Contractor had NRCS come out and rod every tank before we did any digging. A practice that saved a lot of aggravation. Steve
