Me, I guess I'd have to hear the UofA faithful gloat for a whole year. Thankfully, I probably won't have to as the Cats will find a way to lose another big game. It's practically over already.

That game was a roller coaster ride. Huge win for the current regime. Figure Todd Graham will be the Texas coach within a couple years. We'll see.

Like all late elk hunts: Rough, thick, nasty. Find canyons that have these attributes and you'll find bulls.

Somebody in my realm got a Goulds tag. Got five $25 hits. Had 7 potential $25 charges. 3 Javi apps, 1 spring bear app and 3 Goulds apps. Assuming the javi and bear apps took 4 of the 5 .............. tic, tic

What a buck! Congrats to the hunter.

Shot a few hi-power matches back in the day. Always amazed me how capable a practiced shooter can be with iron sights. My eyes were a LOT better then too.

I had hoped the Cats and Devils could run the table so that EVERYTHING was on the line for the Territorial Cup. Devils have won "ugly" a lot this year. Cats can play spoiler in the cup game, something they do very well. Go devils!

Have zero experience with a WHPG. When I was a kid we had German Wirehairs, a similar breed. Likely, the dog will be birdy as all get out so all you'll need to do is refine pointing, backing & retrieving. Join a bird dog club and train with others, it's a lot of fun. Dogs have a good time too.

Very nice. Nice photo's too. Ground cover looks good! BTW, I've heard hammocks called "bear burritos" on other forums. Always got a chuckle out of that.

Well done!

Congrats on your buck. No doubt, the Kaibab is a jewel.

Feedback - Consolidating 10x and 15x Slc for the 12x50ELs
Swivelhead replied to scoutm's topic in Optics and tripods
I don't own any 12's at this point. Currently I use 10X50 slc's around my neck and a 65mm spotter in my pack. I can see where the 12's would be a nice option. I'll acquire a set one day. 56's are nice but do have a 3.7 exit pupil. I've always felt low light was an issue. 12's have 4.2 which is an improvement. -
Ding, Ding, Ding, we have a winner! We sort of got trophy's side of the story, albeit a piece at a time. I'd bet the opposing viewpoint of what happened is vastly different. The common theme of these "I can't believe people's ethics these days" threads is a lack of communication between involved parties. I believe that most of us will do the right thing when a situation arises. Obviously there are exceptions. Calmly addressing a situation can keep it from becoming a conflict. Trophy mentions making eye contact at 50 yards, could this be when the other party becomes aware of another hunter in the canyon? Maybe Trophy was flapping his arms doing the "WTH" gesture at this point. That could get the finger from a preacher. The point is, when eye contact was made at 50 yards, it would have been the time for Trophy to let the other party know he had a buck bedded that he was hoping to take. The other party could have said, "we got a 14 year old girl on her first hunt, we just want a buck". Details could have been worked out from there. Don't know, I was not there.

Let me get this straight .............. A female youth hunter shoots a buck your were passing on and you're upset about it?

Trigger pull for hunting rifle

Has your son practiced with a glove on? Could be cool up there and a glove could cause an issue when the adrenaline is flowing. -

Blew coffee on my monitor when singer said "was that a waterfall". The river crossing bout did me in. Thx for posting these links. -
Reality is, most eastern hunters must lease or buy land to have a place to hunt. For many, that is not an option so they join a hunt club or brave public land hunting eastern style My hat is off to the eastern hunter, they are committed outdoorsmen. Landowners, leases, hunt clubs etc. generally create habitats to keep game on their properties. Still hunting, drives, spot & stalk tend to move game off these respective properties. This is why easterners primarily sit rather than beat the bushes. Most are very careful about stand locations, scent control, etc. Many have it down to a fine art.

Crashing as we speak, trying to put a buddy in for javelina. Bet they have to extend the deadline....... again. -
Although I don't own one, very few people are willing to give up their Outdoorsmans pan heads. When they do come available on these forums (rare) they go for 80% of retail and are GONE quickly. Less expensive but beefy (heavy) heads are ok for around the truck but I find my pack getting fairly heavy with gear I consider essential. For a lightweight setup: Buy once, cry once.

Cats being ranked is good for recruiting, that's about it. Like the Oregon poster noted, if you're ranked you become a target and get everybody's A game.
