I don't see enough bears to be very good at judging size. That being said, I felt like that was young bear, thinking 125#. Blond with black face & legs, my favorite color phase.

The deer's cry's are haunting no doubt. When discussing hunting with non hunters or anti's, I'll mention that despite Disney's portayal, wild animals don't "pass on" with friends & family softly sobbing at their side.

Nice looking bear.

Commission was set to discuss hunt proposals 6/13. Anyone catch the rhetoric concerning the early elk hunts?

Ben Pearson Rogue| Anybody got any Pledge?

Nice find. Performed a similar clean up earlier this year. Can't remember if I used denatured alcohol or lacquer thinner. Came out good. -
Got two additional surveys via snail mail w/later due dates. Verified that it was the same survey then "filed" them.

I believe 6A/22 Rocky will be gone in the bonus pass for a number of reasons. 1) Relatively easy access from a major metropolitan area. 2) Big ol' rams. 3) Max point holders who are applying for desert sheep are applying for the very best desert units. Last year 9 of 17 rocky tags went in the bonus round. Expect a similar outcome in the upcoming draw. 4) It's one hunt # this year.

Looks like a really old sheep. What a trophy he'd be. Good luck in the draw all.

Do you agree with G&F forcing kids to take Hunter Safety???
Swivelhead replied to Big Browns's topic in Youth Hunters
Hunter ed should be mandatory for all. It is possible to teach an old dog new tricks. I've sat through three for various reasons, hope to do it again in about 7 years. -
I believe many of the applicants in question apply for a "dream" unit 1st choice and a reality unit for 2nd choice.
-
Took a shot at the 23/24A Rocky tag (1), figure it will be gone in the bonus pass. I'd love to hunt that area for sheep. Took my first deer there a very long time ago. 27/28 Rocky 2nd choice.

Things your huntin buddies do that drive you nuts : )

No doubt. -
The bears in question, were they habituated to people or "boonie" bears?
-
Desert muleys, never tire of them. Very nice bucks. Welcome to the site.

Actually, it makes perfect sense if G&F is trying to increase hunter opportunity. ERB hunts run about 90% success as opposed to LRB being 20-30%. Every tag taken from ERB can put 3-4 tags in the LRB hunt without affecting the annual take. Hunt quality for the late crowd definitely would suffer.

These *&%$# are always looking for something to ban. Are they bored or power hungry or just egomaniacs? Just manage the herds and the birds and quit trying to define fair chase. My guess is G&F is "fishing". Probably looking to increase hunter opportunity at the expense of a quality experience.

Interesting. Have not heard of any group advocating change with regard to archery/muzzleloader equipment here in AZ.
-
Just a WAG but maybe they (USFS, BLM) are propagating a threatened/endangered plant?
-
Muzzle loader and archery tackle was considerably less capable when experimental seasons were granted many years ago. Unsure where AZGF is going with this discussion. Could be they are discussing muzzleloaders w/o scopes, no inlines, no sabot's. Unsure how they'd handle the archery side. Definitely not a fan of separating the archery crowd by wheel/ non wheel. Archers are one group.

Did the commissioners define primitive muzzleloader/primitive archery equipment?

Going from 15x58 to 12x50. Will I regret it?
Swivelhead replied to kennyazman's topic in Optics and tripods
If possible, hang on to your 15's and acquire the 12's. No such thing as too many optics. -
If you get the chance to hunt Namibia... you won't regret it

Catalina Mountain sheep relocation: Good Video!
Swivelhead replied to Lv2hnt's topic in Bighorn Sheep Hunting
Thx for posting that link. Definitely a good feeling watching the sheep bolt from the trailers into the hills.
