Saw a yote crossing SR 87 with a fox in his jaws about 10 years ago. Big fox, happy coyote.
-
Very cool photos (all of them). Not saying foxes can climb as good as a cat but not too far from it.

Any suggestions on hunting these critters???

#1 Best tasting waterfowl type bird out there that I know of. #2 Challenge, these birds are not easy to fool. #3 Loud thump when they hit the ground. -
Thanksgiving Crane
Swivelhead replied to Little Creek Calls's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I cut the breast cross grain about 1/4" thick. Salt & pepper then pan fry (hot) in butter. Surprisingly good if not over cooked. Hunted cranes 5 or 6 times. Never have limited out but usually get 1 or 2. Built 10 dozen silhouette dekes a few years ago. Birds will check them out but they do not pass muster at close range. I'd love to use full bodies but am unwilling to store large decoys all year for a 1-2 day hunt once a year. -
G&F voted: three calls are a thing of the past.

A prepaid card can be compromised as easily as any other CC. Crooks are crafty. -

Assuming G&F is now going to reject applicants who do not have a valid CC at the time of assessment, leaves me no choice but to do paper apps. I am unwilling to risk losing permits or BP's due to a wobble with a banking institution during the 1-2 day window that I have no control over. Doubt paper apps will be around much longer, I'll deal with that upcoming dilemma when appropriate. -
Good on you, they will NEVER forget that day with you.

Great post! Congrats to both of you.

Thanksgiving Crane

Congrats on your success. Got a few cranes in the freezer from last week. Curious, how did you cook your birds? -
Beautiful ram. Congrats big time.

325 grain bullet to big for coues?
Swivelhead replied to singleshot's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Congrats on the deer. Got a friend who uses the 45-70 in Mississippi (legal for muzzleloader season). Thump's em big time. -
Boycott Levis for other reasons but not this one. Likely, this is a move to limit liability. Insurance companies have a lot of say in how business operates.

Be careful. Shot a golf balls with my .22 Benjamin many times. Last time I did it, the pellet came straight back and hit me center of forehead. Hurt bad but no lasting damage.

best book about how to hunt desert muleys
Swivelhead replied to azdesert rat's topic in Hunting and Outdoors-related books
Dwight Schuh's book is as applicable today as when it was written many years ago. Good read. Good luck with your dad. Not sure his age but enjoy the the time, it is finite. -
Spin it anyway you want. 56-35 end of story. Honestly, makes it even worse km ASUs end being the only pac 12 loss to the cats! No spin-they won 1 conference game. A crappy U of A team beat a crappy ASU team. True but the UA faithful have bragging rights for 363 more day. Devil fans will be ridden like stickhorses for quite a while.
-
Great buck. Story?
-
Congrats to the Cats. Rooted for the Devils my whole life, this year has been tough. Stout defense and a quality running game is what I like to watch. ASU has neither.

A friend advised me that the Tonto NF TMP is on hold. Apparently the CBD and a host of the usual suspects successfully challenged the plan. Cannot find a court document online that confirms this but here is a link to the challenge from the CBD website. It will be interesting to see how much more access will be lost due to this decision. https://www.biologicaldiversity.org/news/press_releases/2016/tonto-national-forest-07-26-2016.html

With tinnitus ....... silence is deafening. Imagine August cicadas at all times. I say "huh" way too much. Grinders, lawnmowers, anything even remotely loud, wear hearing protection. Be consistent, it will pay off big time later in life.
-
Definately NOT the way to go about using a brake. I refuse to shoot without hearing protection. My left ear is so damaged its caused more fights with my wife then I care to admit. Im ignoring her, I'm ignoring the kids "you heard what I said" etc etc etc. This ^^^^^ Protect your hearing. Did not use it most of my life. Paying the price now. Tinnitus, etc.

Bruiser ram! Can't wait to hear the story. Congrats.

Great write up. Even better outcome. Congrats to both of you.

Congrats on a nice buck.
