    Game Cameras- G&F Agenda

Trail camera use as it applies to hunting will eventually be regulated. Those of you who use them ought to get involved on how they will be regulated.

    Phoenix Handgun Gunsmith

Contact Nelson Ford, his shop is called "The Gunsmith". If he is unwilling to work on your Colt revolver he will tell you who will.

" I was thinking Lew Early but he was too young". Lew Early won a world championship in the 60's. Not sure if it was a hunting contest or a calling contest. The instructions that came with Circe calls had his name listed (as well as many others noted in this thread). Lew was a client of my fathers during that time period. At my fathers request, Lew let loose with a calling sequence in my dad's office. Dear old dad was impressed.

    Ruger blackhawk 41 mag

Takes a whole lot of ammo down the pipe to wear out a properly maintained pistol barrel chambered for a straight walled cartridge. 41 mag ammo is pricy, doubt many 41's out there have been "shot out".

    Remember the 80s in Phoenix

My father used an accountant that had an office in the midrise building that housed the Phoenix Playboy club. Whenever I ran paper to the accountant for my father I'd ride the elevator up to the club. One or two bunnies would greet at the opening of the elevator. I was obviously underage but they would humor me for a minute or two. Good times.

Do not recall whether or not Sam himself wrote any articles but do remember reading about his technique. Sam advocated calling softly, expecially the first few sequences IIRC. Beyond that, don't remember much. Calling in the 50's had to be insane.

Good ole days on ammo prices

A friend has two or three boxes of branded 300 Weatherby ammo from the late 60's. Sticker reads $8.99 per box from Macy's New York of all places. Late 80's we were buying Chinese .223 for $.05 per round. It was junk but went boom reliably.

How to deal with bad taxidermy???

See highlighted text ^^^ You will want to pursue this option as quickly as possible. Shady taxidermists use the "I'll refund your money blah, blah" line often. Let us know how you make out. I'd out him if he does not keep his word.

Bird law in this country—it's not governed by reason.

Unless you are a card carrying member of a native american tribe, posession of raptor feathers, bones, talons is a no-no. It is federal law.

Adult onset hunter, first Elk tag

Study the main drainages in your unit. Pay close attention to finger canyons that feed the main drainages. Find the roughest, most inaccessible, thick & nasty canyons available. Scour said canyons with your optics and be patient. That's where the bachelor bull groups will be hanging.

    late archery strategies

Your equipment is up to the task. Consider going to a bow shop and shooting a few arrows through their chrono. Shoot a few with 100 gr. and 125 gr points to see how much velocity is lost with the heavier field points. They might charge a small fee. You will be able to calculate your KE. Knowing what KE you & your rig are generating will allow you to choose a suitable broadhead. I shoot fixed two blade heads and they are an excellent choice for ensuring penetration. All things being equal, fixed two blade heads will not leave as much trailing blood as expandables or 3-4 blade heads. On a solid hit, not a big deal but a marginal hit, it does become an issue. Modern bows store a lot of energy, you may find that a two blade is not necessary.

24" draw length is less than most. I am curious as to how you measure you draw length. How tall are you?
