What do y'all think about this new off the shelf ammo, one caliber in particular I'm interested in knowing about is the 180 grain 300 win mag load. If you don't have this caliber but still shoot this off the shelf ammo I would still like to hear what y'all think, thanks!

Canelo hills is a good place to start, look online or get a forest map and just go find little roads, there are a ton of them and a lot are untraveled ( except by BP). You would be surprised how far you can get away from other hunters while still driving roads. I have the late November early December hunt in there so good luck to all you early hunters, it's going to be a good year!

I'm mailing mine in at end of business today, it might not be waiting on their desk Monday morning but it will be there Monday afternoon and it won't be rejected. -
I think it would be a great trip, we would all just have to coordinate around upcoming deer hunts cause from everything I'm gathering its not that good to hunt them during summer or hot months. So that starts to cut into deer season. We need to get the ball rolling on this and figure out a good time for all of us or a time far enough in advance that we can all make time for it.

Well if he's got a ranch and he doesn't mind a few of us out there that would be fun too, probably be a good way almost guarantee us getting some hogs. But the idea of a giant old school hunting camp is good too.

That's a long list there Desert Bull, you can jump on ours if you want, it's a lot shorter haha!

Anybody know someone with a toy hauler or fifth wheel trailer haha I'm sure we can all fit in that! And I talked to a buddy and he advised me December, January and February is a good time to hunt cause its not as hot and the pigs are out more. Who's buying the beer by the way? Haha

Yes sir, I just called their department today and confirmed that, no tag, no license, free game! And thanks to the FS I'm already pretty familiar with units 27 and 26 and I've seen hogs in both. I'll most defiantly take your advise on the 100 lb sow but if I happen to find a big boar then I'm sure I'd do what anyone else would do haha!

So you have to draw a bull tag to make it onto the list for these sponcers to give you one? I might as well just buy one, ill get one quicker anyways! Haha

Tips on bird dog training
az_shooter posted a topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I have a chocolate lab pup, he's only about 8 months old and he loves the water and I have him retrieving out of water already and he knows the basic sit, lay, stay, and speak. I'm just wanting to know if anyone has and good training exercises to help my pup get ready for his first bird season. Maybe a good idea for a new forum category, bird dogs and dog training. -
AZ_SAWBUCK - I'm thinking of just calling the g&f dept. and clarifying but as far as I can see it is just fair game! Hog hunting here I come! Rifle2Bow - I've been in a few spots in NM recently and have seen feral hogs and its all fair chace, no high fence like Texas or other places that trap them in. I've also heard that they are super good to eat so thanks for the good luck wish!

Tips on bird dog training

Thanks for the great info so far, and ill keep my eye out for that pm TJ, thank you. My biggest thing is I'm trying not to be hard on him because I want to keep him motivated but at the same time all he wants to do is play when I try and work with him. He's a great pup and I'm super excited to have him and be training him so I want to try and do it right. -
+1 on the Sonoita cut at the steak house in Sonoita AZ, just east of Patagonia Lake on HWY 82.

FEMA will not be doing a whole in this situation, especially when it comes to freeing up funds. I also am in the same line of work and what has transpired of the past couple hits us all pretty hard. I would like to add that if anyone doesn't have any horns to donate to Joel but you still want to donate you can go directly to the Wildland Firefighter Foundation web site and donate there, it's www.wffoundation.org, and those proceeds also go to the family. Not trying to step on your toes with what your doing Joel, just giving more info bud. R.I.P. Granite Mountain IHC

Extremely sad day for the wildland fire community. You will be missed and will be honored by the rest of us who get up and get back out on the line to fight another day. -
