Nothing yet, I'm guessing Friday too. Can't this site just put a popup or a banner, right when you open www.coueswhitetail.com that says, "cards being hit" - then a week or so later another pop up "draw results are out" Suppose that might take some of the fun out of the forums ....

I spend a lot of time in 33 and some time in 37's and without a doubt, when it comes to numbers for muley, 33 is the unit. There is a reason I take my kids with me to go glassing in 33 - because we ALWAYS see deer (bucks and does). My 11 year old can sit behind the glass and pick them out. I spend 95% of my time in 33 during the OTC seasons. So I might be a little partial.

If you put in for the OTC and get drawn - do you lose your points?

Results are up - immediately time off requests are submitted.

What are you doing to get in shape for elk season?
BigGameHunter replied to daverp's topic in Elk Hunting
I am riding my bike to work everyday - 30 miles round trip (plus my normal running program). Besides improving my stamina, for the hunt, I am also saving some extra cash on gas. Which will be wisely reinvested into extra scouting trips and extra ammo for the range. Sidenote: The ROI on a bike is rediculous. -
Monday night, when everyone is sleeping, the draw fairy will update the site and screams of joy will fill the skies after people log in to check ... Monday 11:58:09pm - update results Tuesday: 9:31am screams of joy will start

It's that time of year, where I have a tag for an unit I didn't originally plan on getting. This year, it happens to be 34B. I have been out 3 weeks in a row but have failed to get into what I feel is a good area for whitetail. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. I am not looking for your favorite spot (unless you are feeling super generous) - just vicinity. Right now, after 3 trips I have become a master at finding antelope, desert turtles, rattlesnakes, and prairie dogs. Again, any help is appreciated. Good luck to all those that are drawn.

Nice work and congratulations.

I saw your sticker at one of favorite spots - Total Wine, pink camo sticker on a blue blazer.

shhhhh ... there arent any deer in this area
-
Yeah, I just chalk that up to "stuff happens." and move forward ... thank god for full glass coverage!

Two Javelina Bag Limit (under some circumstances)!
BigGameHunter replied to 1uglydude's topic in Javelina
I am very pleased about this recommendation - in my opinion it's exactly how the regs read (as I have previously posted). Excellent decision by game and fish - -
Mechanical or Fixed Broadhead
BigGameHunter replied to ready2hunt's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
I hunted last season with mechanical blades. Then while in the field two of them popped out and since that time they never stayed in (rubber bands broke). The two times I was able to draw on my game I had to double check the blades - not what I need to be worrying about. Since then I have switched to fix blades - I am not dealing with the other issues this season. Lord knows I already have to think about while preparing my shot; worry about blades working can be eliminated. -
Any store can take your credit card, remove the item from iventory, immediately reorder, deliver to the store the replacement in less than 48 hours ... certainly game and fish can update their technology to process these cards and announce results in a timelier fashion. How hard can it be to set up a system that hits a credit and generates a notification of you success with the location. Now, I realize that buy asking for this the cost ot apply online just double and licenses and tag prices increased, again. Good luck for all of those still waiting!

I love this time of year - the scouting trips really start getting amped up, archery practice is in full effect, trips to the gym start back up -- conditioning for the August hunts, testing all your gear, sharpening all your knives, checking coueswhitetail.com for all the current stories ... Ladies and Gentlement, we are just a little over a month away before the next archery hunt -- you ready yet? I love this time of year.

Spent my Saturday morning out scouting and getting ready for this Aug-Sept archery hunt. Was very fortunate to run into 7 deer (2 small bucks). While out on my way to another ridge to sit and glass I came across this track. Now normally, a cat track doesn't bother me too much, but this now the third time I have come across it while being out there. As you may be able to tell this particular track is very fresh (seeing that it had rained that morning) - so maybe I was a few hours behind it. I think I might need to mix in a cat hunt to clear my area of thees deer slayers.

Last season, during a late season bull hunt, I ran into 3 of the biggest bucks I have ever seen in that area in 5 years. All three were together and the smallest was a 4x4. Very nice deer to say the least. That being said, I have never seen these type of deer with any regularity. Good luck

I was recently denied a left over javelina tag by Game and Fish because I was already issued a left over tag in January. Has this happened to you? If so, by the very definitions of the 2011-12 Arizona Hunting and Trapping Regualtions, the state of Arizona is completely out of compliance to the rules and regulations that govern all hunters. Below is my letter to AZGFD (I apologize the formatting getting mixed up): Gentlemen, I am writing this letter as the result of recent interactions with your office(s) in regards to left over tags; specifically javelina tags. Essentially, I went in to the game and fish office to purchase a left over javelina tag for Season Dates Feb 10 – Feb 19, 2012. However, I was declined a tag by the agent. The reason provided was because I was already issued a tag for Season Dates January 1 – January 26th, 2012. I tried to explain that my January tag was not filled as I was unsuccessful in my hunt. Therefore, I did not achieve my bag limit. The agent advised me that it is not just a matter of filling my tag but also the fact that I was “successful” in getting a tag already. This lead me to review the rules and regulations of Arizona Game and Fish, as outlined in the 2011 – 12 Arizona Hunting and Trapping Regulations. R12-4-104: Application Procedures for Issuance of Hunt Permit-tags by Drawing and Purchase of Bonus Points L. An applicant shall submit only one valid application per genus of wildlife for any calendar year, except: 1. If the bag limit is one per calendar year, an unsuccessful applicant may re-apply for remaining hunt permit-tag in unfilled hunt areas, as specified in the hunt permit-tag application schedule published annually by the Department. 2. For genera that have multiple draws within a single calendar year, an individual who successfully draws a hunt permit-tag during an earlier season may apply for a later season for the same genus if the individual has not taken the bag limit for that genus during a preceding hunt in the same calendar year. 3.If the bag limit is more than one per calendar per year, an individual may apply as specified in the hunt permit-tag application schedule published annually by the Department of remaining hunt permit-tags in unfilled hunt areas. While discussing this specific rule with a supervisor she stated to me that I am prohibited by R12-4-104 L1 because I am not an “unsuccessful applicant” – as she defined an “unsuccessful applicant” is determined as someone who submitted an incomplete application. I agreed completely with her; I am not an “unsuccessful applicant." She then stated that I am prohibited to obtain a tag under R12-4-104 L2 as it’s not a “later season” – as she defined “later season” as summer, winter, fall. I strongly disagree with this definition of “later seasons” as your 2012 Spring Turkey, Javelina, Buffalo, and Bear booklet defines “seasons” by specific date ranges; as opposed to winter, spring, winter, and fall. More importantly, per the 2011-12 Arizona Hunting and Trapping Regulations: A.R.S. 17-101 Definitions 13. “Open Season” means the time during which wildlife maybe lawfully taken In my case, and I am sure the case of many hunters, I received a tag for season dates, or time during which wildlife maybe be lawfully taken, January 1 – January 26th and being denied a tag for the “later season”, or time during which wildlife maybe be lawfully taken,February 10th – February 19th. Clearly, I am being denied a tag because of the misinterpretation of the rules as clearly defined by the rules and regulations. Even after pointing this out to your agent I was advised that the “computer” still will not allow the distribution of the tag. Gentlemen, I am asking that someone someone be accountable for resolving this matter. It needs to be addressed and corrected immediately. Your office, agents, and computer systems are completely out of compliance to the very rules and regulations that you govern hunters.
