  1. The 2925fps is with the 175's....sorry, forgot to mention that. I never chrony'd the 150's.
  2. I shoot 150 Nosler BT's and 175 Nosler partitions. Both with RL22. With a 26" barrel I am getting 2925FPS with 64gr. Both are MOA or better.

    243 bullets

Ive shot several deer with ballistic tips, including one with a .243. I would highly reccomend (I know we all have our own opinions) not using a BT out of a .243 for deer. The expansion on those BT are insane. It's fun to watch on a coyote but on a deer the penetration sucks. I tried a partition not only in my .243 but also my normal deer rifle (7mag) and the results were night and day compared to a BT. With a .243 you are wanting penetration, not expansion. Those BT littereally blow up on a deer and there may not be anything left to go through vitals. A 90-100gr partition will be the closest in performance to an accubond. I find supply is better too. Just my experience.....

Please take a moment to read

Joel might as well have been my own blood when he took his life. He was my little bro too. I cant believe its been 13 years now. Just this weekend my wife attended a funeral for her cousin who took his own life last week. He left behind a wife and 2 daughters. I think its awesome for Jimmy to be getting others involved and to raise the awareness. Good job Jimmy. See you soon.
  5. I normally do not get involved with these conversations but the Catalinas are my back yard and I have some questions. 1. What does trail restrictions mean? With all the property east of Oracle rd. that is now private due to development, there is already limited access. Not only for hunting reasons but also recreational. It gets just as bad on the back side, east side and on top. Will this limit the trail acces even more? 2. Again Im no sheep expert and chances are high I do not have the financial resouces to ever hunt one and we all know what it means to draw a tag..with that said, I was under the impression the sheep rut is in early winter....smack dab in the middle of rifle deer season. Would this mean the area the sheep are located are off limits to a much more regular drawn deer tag in the Catalinas? These are both important questions to me. I am not standing here with cash in hand but I would like to know how this impacts an area already getting smaller by the year. Thanks.

    2012 Mounts Back

As always, Wellers did a fantastic job. Thanks to the entire team. They are a class act and are great to work with. Gavin talked me into rolling the nose and opening the mount on this deer. It was a smaller deer than i would have liked to have shot but it was the final day of my hunt. I am glad I went with Gavins advice. The pose adds alot to the mount and the workmanship is awesome. Pics do not do this justice. There is awesome detail in the nose, teeth, and mouth. Also a pic of the updated coues wall....buck on the far right is GreeneMachine's. He's waiting to come get it. Also done by Wellers.

Smith and Wesson Model 57 .41 Mag

Sold. Thanks to those who inquired.
  8. I have a S&W Model 57 in .41mag. Here are the details. Blue Finish 8 3/8" barrel "Pin" Barrel Recessed Cylinder Mod 57 "No dash" model number "N" serial number Target Hammer and Trigger Model Completely Original The barrel has minor loss of blueing on the muzzle due to being fired. There is also blueing wear on the side of the barrel from being holstered. I showed this in a picture below. There is minor scratch on the butt of the handle from being rested on something. The rest of the pistol is immaculate. The walnut grips are original and in excellent condition. No scratches (outside the butt of the handle) on the entire pistol. Do not have the original box or paperwork from S&W and I do not know the round count. I am the second owner and have never fired the pistol, not once. However, the original owner was unsure of how many times it was fired. I have reloading dies that will go as well. $750 Located in Tucson. I make the trip to Phoenix about once a week. Scratch on butt of handle and blue issue on barrel

    2014 Idaho Lope Hunt

My buddy, GreeneMachine, and I were lucky enough to win the Idaho archery antelope hunt next year at the Yarnell banquet in Prescott last night. Thanks to some crafty cell phone work and bidding, we won. Super happy about it. Im glad the funds will go to an unbelievable cause. Ive learned the hunt will take place on a 20K acre ranch about 45 minutes south of Salmon, ID in Unit 29. Now I only have to wait 12 months......

Smith and Wesson Model 57 .41 Mag

I would be open to trades for a spotting scope or rifle scope (s). Rifle scopes would need target turrets and a non mil dot reticle.

Smith and Wesson Model 57 .41 Mag

Thanks Swivel, my guess is someone will want to add to their collection with this one or it will make a heck of a HAM hunt weapon!

    Awesome Encounter

Woke up this morning and helped a buddy get a rifle sighted in. Also sat down and watched some deer comb the hills before the rain moved in. So I am sitting down on my butt glassing and I hear some noise in the grass to my right. A few minutes later a pack rat comes blowing out right in front of me. The pack rat is hurting. Jerking all over sporadically, can tell its hurting. It manages to make its way about 6 feet up the opposite bank. About 5 minutes later a 3' black-tailed rattler comes out where the rat first was. It has no clue I'm 4 feet away and tracks this rat. It goes straight to it and it knows this rat it still alive. The snake moves in and drills the rat with a bite. Meanwhile I am recording all of this sitting 4 feet away from the action. The snake chills and waits about 15 minutes until the rat finally dies. The snake gulps the thing right in front me. Totally awesome. My boys have a couple of ball pythons and we normally catch a few kings throughout the year but I have never seen a snake move in a make a kill in the wild. I felt like I was on national geographic. Not to mention, it was a less common rattler.....here are some pics.

    Screwed up leftovers

I hunt 30b on occasion and there is access through Tombstone. They are well traveled roads but like anything, if you get off the road and put some boot time in, there are decent deer back in there.

    Awesome Encounter

Coach, your camera is better than mine. Your pictures are a good resemblance of the one we saw. It was crazy how green and colorful it was, almost fluorescent green. My camera just didnt pick up the colors. Pixman, awesome photos!

    Awesome Encounter

I normally keep quite the distance from these guys, and loving to upland hunt with my GSP's, these guys usually get the loud end of a shotgun. However, this was too cool to not watch and being a little bit more of less than normal type you see around, I let this was slither away for another day. Really cool to see this thing track the rat and nail it in the wild.

    Eberlestock Team Elk Pack

I just purchased one and though I have not had it in the field, my first impressions are......awesome!! I want a pack good for a day or two overnight and enough room to haul something out. Yet, not too big where I cannot throw my water and binos in for a hike. The padding and comfort is great. One of the better packs I have purchased....Ive been through a few the last few years and seem to either sale them or return them....this one looks like a keeper.
  20. Wife was hit this morning.....still hitting them.

    8yr Old's First Spot & Stalk

My 8 year old has been shooting a bow, whether its been a Lord of the Rings special, or a $89.99 Walmart Special, since he was 4. He has always been drawn to it and its been fun to watch. So, this weekend I finally took the money he has earned working around the house and I met him half way on a new Diamond youth bow. We headed down to Sportsmans Friday afternoon. We picked the bow up, spent some time getting it set up and then headed out to practice. Right away he was grouping good. We backed up to 15 yards and with 20lbs of draw weight he was spanking the target. As the sun set he asked if we could go after a rabbit. I tried to explain to him the success ratio with bow hunting versus shooting his pellet rifle but his enthusiasm was too much to turn down. So we headed out and soon found the cotton tails emerging. First stalk, blown. Second, Third.....you get the picture; blown. Finally right at last light he spots a rabbit and its his last shot for the night. He started paying attention to his steps. He was focused on cover and I hung back. That little rascal closed the distance to 10 yards. I watched him ease out from some brush, draw his bow, and as soon as he released I heard the WHACK.....His look back at me was priceless. We backed out. I explained to him we had to give the rabbit time. Thirty minutes later we grabbed the flashlight and with the help of a buddy we found the rabbit piled up dead under some bushes. My boy was super excited. We took some photo's and took the rabbit back home. We gutted it and I skinned it and threw it in the freezer. First spot and stalk and success. He is hooked......been shooting all weekend. Fun to see your kids pick it up and love it. Here are the pictures in order:Getting the bow dialed in at Sportsmans, Practicing, Stalking, and Success.

    8yr Old's First Spot & Stalk

Thanks for the great responses. My boy is super excited. We went to the new archery park in Oro Valley this weekend and took a shot at the walking course. Although he cannot shoot all the distances of the targets, its great exercise and he's getting better daily. I would highly encourage getting your little ones started early!
