Ok my first topic, Baiting; I have read in the reg's that it's legal but if your on BLM or national forest land or what not you have to check with those departments or agency for allowance as the way I understand it. I have not hunted AZ for deer for the last 8-10yrs as the military has had me hunting in other countries. I would like to get some feed back from those who have done some of this so that if I decide to do any baiting or mineral licks I have a proven proccess that works and not making hours of phone calls to G&F or BLM and Forest Service. And the second part of my question your thoughts on the effectivness of baiting or licking and what made your spots successful.

Congrats to both the boys. Oh what fun it can be being a dad and wishing you had the stamina of a 16yr old again. Great Job memories last forever.

You can tally up horns all day but no matter what he scores you beat the last buck you shot. Now have a hash mark to try and beat next year. He is for sure a great buck and a trophy I am sure none the less. Congrats to you and you better get to scouting to beat him next year.

Being patient after the shot....
Catfish Hobo replied to Coues 'n' Sheep's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Ok, not trying to make a novel of a thread but none the less my opinions and experience. I give all deer 30 minutes even if I see them drop. If the run off and I am unsure of my shot I will usually give them 45min to an hour. I pay close attention to my arrow and blood trail. If I think I made a gut shot I will go as far as smelling my arrow and looking for any sign of digested waste or food (grimy looking stuff) on my arrow shaft. I look at the color of the blood and time will make your blood dry fairly quickly in the warm climate of desert lands. If I can't find the animal I have experienced in Arizona none the less a forked horn mulely being killed two days after a friend of mine broke his front right leg above just below his belly line. I actually picked up the deer’s track from a water tank and noticed a drag mark in the track and found him about 300yds later in a thick draw about 30yds wide and my body made about a 3yd kill shot on the deer, but we found and harvested his original deer pure luck at the age of 16yrs old that’s for sure. hope this helps and like I said just my opinion. -
Hello to all, My name is Eddie and I will be arriving in Arizona the 1st of Nov in lovely Sierra Vista. I am a Army Soldier and was raised most my life in McNeal (northern Douglas) and can't wait to get after some of my old friends the CWT. I am coming from San Antonio TX, and can't wait to bag a nice CWT Buck this winter with my Bow. I just recently joined and wanted to give a shout out to what seems to be a great forum and a great place to interact with some great people with simular values and love for the outdoors as I do. Anyways hope to hear from lots of you all its been 10 years since my last coues hunt. Good luck to everyone and hope to find you with bright red fletchings or at least some great stories and memories.
