Here's a few 19a 2014 (I edited the hunter out incase they didn't want to share) but that's just the beginning of them
-
I have counted 15 and hoping for 16 this weekend. A lot of pics on broadhead brotherhood in fb
-
Thanks Rick! I'm in northwest Mesa so maybe I can come check it out tomorrow or later this week
-
I am interested in the ruger! Can u email me some close up pics to americanoutlaw10@gmail.com. I am near Mesa so what part of Mesa are you in bc I would def like to give it a closer look! Thanks
-
Are these still available? I would be interested in making an offer if they are! U can email me @ americanoutlaw10@gmail.com

I have been hunting bears for the past 9 years and have never used dogs. I would like to know if people still consider you a sportsman/hunter when u shoot a treed bear or do you think it is just a shooter without hunting skills? I personally believe it takes the sport out of it but would like to gather other opinions. And if dogs are your thing would u think bait should be legal?
-
Lark- it's Timothy "Treadwell" like they said, and he did grow up to be s*!t, .... Bear Sh!t! Nobody has told me why u would hire a dog guide yet. - Not the thrill of finding them( the dogs do that) - not the thrill of out witting em! Is it bc More expensive? Less likely to succeed? More "risk"? Harder to keep up? Or just idiot looking to spend extra money?
-
In playing devils advocate- so I'm a hunter who wants to shoot a bear! Why would i hire a guide who says, "pick me, my hunts are more grueling, more hazardous, less likely to be successful, and also will run ya about $1000 more bucks than a spot and stalk hunt!" ? When u find those guys tell them I got a chupacabra hunt for sale! I guess I don't get what the selling point is?
-
All that is true CouseKiller.300. I agree the owners have more at risk! If u think its hard not knowing how far you will hike, How hard is it hiking hard and not knowing if you will ever see something? Sure Glassing you can see more, but I would like to know the success rate comparison between dog hunts and spot and stalk hunts in comparison to how many people do it? Most big bears I glass are nowhere near a beaten path! And there's never a guarantee that they will be there by the time u get within range! There is no factor to hold a bear stationary while u catch up! To each their own! My personal opinion is that dog hunts are more successful and easier for bears than spot and stalk! If u think different let's agree to disagree!
-
It's the same handful of folks saying the same thing. Like I said, I respect the effort one puts into training dogs! And if hunting with them is so hard why shouldn't u be allowed to put them in the record books? Why aren't u fighting for that right? "paws and jaws" post said they treed seven bears in five days! Post like that make it appear more doable than without dogs! Everyone has the right to support or dislike any type of hunting they want. And just because u like one doesn't mean u have to like them all. And just because u like theirs doesn't mean they have to like urs! .270- it an idiot! Opinions aren't lies! And because they don't agree with your doesn't make them any less true. Just because u own some hunting dogs doesn't mean the general census is that its good or bad! There are alot of things harder than hunting bears, like 26 months in Iraq! Chasing dogs is not the toughest thing ever!
-
Kninebirddog- is that all u got! PETA! Maybe it's fools like u that give them leverage. Especially when u post ur pics and videos of a bear stuck in a tree with a dozen dogs around it while I walk ur dog chasin butt up there to shoot it bc u couldn't get it done on ur own! I didn't have a problem with dog hunters, I still don't, I just don't respect the idiots who are so narrow minded they become extremist by saying bc someone doesn't respect their hunting style they must be PETA. Once again, tell me why dog run hunting is more sportsmanlike than fair chase? And tell me why their are no dog run hunting shows besides for fowl?
-
Lark- never once have I said ban anything! N I haven't heard one person say that hunting without dogs is easier than with! And im not claiming dog hunts are a cake walk all the time. (1995 was when the amended the guiding law) Glasses do make it easier! So do high powered rifles! So u must think neither are used during dog hunts... Rifles are really good when ur target doesn't move. But neither rifles nor optics hold an animal in a location so u can catch up to it like dogs do! Put ur dogs on a bear 2 miles away, n glass up a bear two miles away! Tell me which one u shoot! Bc by the time u hike to the bear (or ride ur horse) likely the bear is gone not like with dogs! Get on a flat or in a canyon and tell me how well those optics work for finding bears. Then compare it to dogs! I personally thing dogs is less sportsman likethan without! That's just my opinion! Give me some examples of why it is more sportsman like.
-
N the poll should be more a question " is bear hunting with dogs more respectable than without?" the only people who are going to say no to ur poll are antis or people who are extremely against it bc any hunter would support dogs over not hunting!
-
Oh I'm not asking to ban it! And I know nobody who does it illegally, bc the law was different back then! But maybe I should just follow someone who hires dogs! Maybe it will change my mind! Does anyone think dogs make bear hunting harder?
-
Lark- this tree and call was bak before they changed the law requiring hunters to be present at the release of the hounds in 1995! U should know that as a avid guide with dogs! And I'm not gonna convince any one that they should stop using dogs, just like they won't convince them to allow ur bears in the record books! And FYI that is 6 bear kills not counting my three all to first time hunters! And ifwe were to have gone after every bear we had a real chance to shoot, i woulda been on atleast 30 in the last five years n I don't even guide for bear! Just like im sure u all dont shoot every bear u tree! Best of luck to u in whatever way u chose to hunt them I am just saying I choice to do it without the dogs! (ps- what serious hunter doesn't have a 100,000 invested in it)

.270 I am not anti bear hunting by any means! In the last three years I have shot three bears! I also treed the bear that was in the post by dan about chocolate bear!(it would be dead by me if it wasn't outta season) If that's not a boar I don't know what is! I will also be bear hunting this weekend! I have been involve in six bear kills in the last 5 years. I am the farthest thing from anti hunting! I have spent 32 weekends in the last year hunting! I know bear as well as anyone who has only been at it nine years! Of u think it's hard doing it with it dogs! Do it without! If it's easier then why would anyone need ur service, when they can take the easy route for the same price! No camp ground bears and no creek bears! I could tell u exactly who was doing the hunts

I revoke my previous statement about uncle Ted! I actually like him amd backstraps! I'm no pro hunter but I know the difference between hunting and killing. Anyone who has used dogs to hunt birds.... How many have u seen that have gotten away? Now how many bears have u treed that have gotten away when u where there? .....There are plenty of shows showing dogs going after birds. Now I bet none of us can name a hunting show that shows a dog hunt on bear? (except Game warden) bc PETA will have that sort of hunting shut down in no time like they are with push hunts, capture hunts, ext... All that forms that look in humane by a pet lovers eye!
-
25-06- I wouldn't run em during any other draw hunt period! Then again I probably wouldn't run dogs at all for big game! Kninebirddog- the difference is birds haul butt and and u get one or two shots. Bears stay till u kill em or let em go! It's not a take ur time aim n shoot till u hit with birds! Any kid can shoot a stationary target given enough shells! Anyone who thinks hunting using dogs is hard! Try doing it without n tell me which ur more successful with!

Ur talking to a guy who has 4 dogs used to hunt birds and small game! 2 GSP, 1 Vizsla, 1 Weimaraner. They are great for birds! And I have put many of hours to training them! I understand that! But if I rent them out for use that doesn't make the user a good hunter or dog trainer! How do u explain to your kids that you spent $2000 to run up a hill and shoot a bear out of a tree that had been up there a half hour because someones dogs had chased it there! It's not hunting it's just shooting bc that's all the trigger puller is doing! He doesnt put in the leg work! In that case u might as well jog around the zoo for a couple hours then get u a whole trophy room of game and call yourself Ted! I respect a guy who puts in the time and effort to shoot an animal! Just like a guy who puts in time and effort to save hunting by doing it right and all legal! I am totally in understanding that dog hunting is physically tough for the client, but a true hunter has three aspects, physical toughness, mental toughness, and skill/knowledge in my book!
-
I can respect dogs with lions! They are tough to find and are always on the move unless on a kill! The law changed within the past ten yrs or so to make that illegal, before that the client didn't have to be present, so nobody was breaking the law! Let's face it! Dogs drastically increase ur odds especially in bear country! Also when ur odds go up so does everyones! And if we all shoot a treed bear on the opening morning of spring hunt, then the annual sow limit will keep 99% of u from ever getting a chance to hunt! Treed bears are too easy. I have treed two younger ( 4yrs old?) bears in the past year with nothing but a human chase. I get it's fun! But it's there natural instinct to tree to avoid danger n not come down till it's gone,(a prime reason why bears die in forest fires)! I'm not saying it should be illegal, bc it takes work to train the dogs. But I just wouldn't respect anyone who used dogs other than their own trained dogs! If u need to hire dogs u should stick to hunting javalina bc u probably don't deserve a bear!
-
I totally will back dogs over non-hunters! And totally agree with te thrill of the chase if u were to chase them then let em go! My only bad perception comes from when a guy doesn't go out and find bears/lions on his own but pays a guy to tree them then go shoot em! Like when a guy comes up to me and says "hey I need the afternoon off I gotta run up to sunflower bc my buddy has a lion treed and I paid to come shoot it". My stroke is finding bears miles away and working to get to them! If anyone thinks glassin up bears and lions is easy show me what I'm doing wrong!
-
Dan First off congrats again, that bear is a badass! Second u ruined the rest of my season bc I had been after that bear for the last three years! He's a stud. And I have passed on a dozen bears hoping to get that guy! U lucky dog! Good for you tho! Hope he makes a beautiful wall rug! I just got word back from a buddy who saw you guys up that way and said yeah ur the same people! I knew that bear looked familiar an have a bunch of gamecam pics of him somewhere! I am really surprised u guys got him out bc that's one he'll of a place to hike! Good work man!
-
I'm not gonna say it's not physically/mentally tough, it just appears as tho it's more of a exercise than a sport? I'm not knocking it bc I have never tried it, but I do know a few people who would be partially responsible for the law change in dog running, (due to the fact that they would tree bears n cats and call people at work to drive up at lunch and shoot them) n that seams less sportlike than anything! I have been rather successful/lucky with bears, so I have never considered dogs. I just don't know what it is that draws people to hire dogs, is it lack of time to hunt or lack of skill in finding bears?
-
That bear is a beauty! It looks alot like the one I have been after in 23! Could it be the same bear?
