I cannot wait for the footage from this hunt! Kong is going down! Best of luck to ya!

What a bummer! At least you found a nice one! Yep, that's my first one too! It was a mad scramble to load my rifle, get my buddies vectored in on him, and down load the regs on my phone, only to find out he was untouchable. For now...

That's the worse part... I glassed a good chocolate/cinnamon bear last weekend, but I can't go after him until next year! Scouting, shooting, and quail will have to suffice, 26 more days, 26 more days....
-
Wow... that's crazy, id never get that close to alive, wild jaguar.

I can't wait! I've got 8 more scouting trips planned before the hunt starts. I can't wait to chase the bucks we've been seeing!

Make sure you mount those 10 bys on a tripod, it makes a world of difference. I've taken 5 coues and only one of them was over 300 yards. Just make sure you know where your rifle shoots out to 500 and you'll be fine. I love the TTSX, they punch above their weight. 120 grain TTSX out of your 7mm-08 will put the smack down on a 90 lbs buck. -
Awesome bull Christain!

Yeah, I am feeling the same thing, HURRY IT UP ALREADY!! Ive been scouting and that somewhat cures the itch, but its not the same... glassing with a rifle handy and deadly intent is what we live for!

He's a little early this year I believe. Have a good buck at the same spot and he is still full velvet. Brian Yeah, all the bucks I've seen this year are still in velvet. They should start shedding soon right?

Ya Know when I was younger the thought of that never occurred to me, then a friend of mine told me about a friend of his that he had hunted with. This guy had a unit 1 bull tag and he stated that his bull had to be over 350". Why? Because our mutual friend had killed a 350" bull the year before. He shot a bull that upon inspection he didnt think was big enough, and walked away from it. He ended up shooting a rag horn 5 point on the last day for the meat. My friend has never hunted with or to my knowledge even talked to that dude again. We went in and found that bull about a month later, he scores 343". Plenty big enough to hang on my wall! Guys that do things like that should be neutered in my opinion. Good luck to all those out searching for their bulls, and don't forget to ask for some help from up above! I sure hope Operation Game Thief was called. It's one thing to hit and lose a bull, then after days of searching, take another bull. But to shoot and recover a bull, then, based on it's size, walk away and shoot another one? F-that. 1-800-352-0700, just in case you didn't have the number...

He should have spiked it, not try to take and knee and then spike it. He didn't even take a knee, he just kinda put the ball down and walked away. And heck yeah! I woulda jumped on that ball too! A win is a win, but we should have been up by more than 2 points, even with spotting them 7 on that botched punt. Why ASU's punter didn't just kick it out of the end zone I'll never know...

Let's hear your "Zombie-dove" stories
Antmo23 replied to Scooter's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I like the walking dead, but having "zombie" ammo and neon green everything is a bit much... I know of a guy that has a "zombie hunter" sticker on his lifted street queen of a Tacoma(and he's a little guy, I think he needs to get a running start just to get into his truck!), makes me laugh every time I see it... -

Heck yeah! The Walking Dead has some of the best zombies, but I'm getting a little zombied out right about now... -

And the neon green everything? How does that make it "zombie"? -

My Dad did this exact thing, IN MY VEST! -
I had the same thing happen to me in 2010. My hunt started the 9th, I hunted until the 11th, came home, my daughter, Aiyana, was born on the 13th. I took care of her and my son until the 15th to give their mom a breather. I went bck up the 15th and tagged out on the 16th! I thought it was a great compromise, I was there for them and I got to hunt. She, however, WAS NOT happy. AT. ALL. Tread carefully my friend and check in morning, noon, and night.

Good luck!

Things your huntin buddies do that drive you nuts : )
Antmo23 replied to twigsnapper's topic in The Campfire
Yeah, I experienced something like that, didn't even get to enjoy the sound of the campfire, lol. I just went to bed early, that was the only escape, lol. -
I'd hunt the north section, it looks like less roads, plus, it's all Nat'l Forest land so no access problems.
