How many animals have you harvested in Arizona
Antmo23 replied to Seldom Drawn's topic in The Campfire
5 coues with my rifle. 1 javelina and 1 bull elk with my bow. -
Thanks for doing this for us Flattie! What're my odds for Early Archery Bull 4B or 5A with 4 BPs?

Kenetrek Boots Whats youre opinion...
Antmo23 replied to SwarovskiCoues's topic in Other Hunting Gear
Stiff is an understatement... But now that they're broken in, they are the most comfortable shoe I own. -
Look at Kuiu.com. Everyone I hunt with is replacing their Sitka for Kuiu products. I've had my pants for 2 years now and they've held up pretty good. I have some sitka but the Kuiu Attack pants are lighter, more comfortable, and they didn't get shredded buy the cat claw like the sitka pants did. After. One. Hunting. Trip. Plus, I really like the Vias camo pattern, it doesn't blob out at distance and really breaks up your outline. Oh, and while they are still pricey, they are cheaper than sitka!

Kenetrek Boots Whats youre opinion...
Antmo23 replied to SwarovskiCoues's topic in Other Hunting Gear
I love mine, but my hunting buddies hate following me. They keep muttering something about me being half billy goat or something, lol. They are very comfortable, like putting your foot into a marshmallow. I had the Danner Frontiers but the Kenetreks just seem more supportive with better traction. Make sure your feet like them and don't tell your wife how much they cost! -
What rifle scope do you use?
Antmo23 replied to rhineheimer's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I shoot a Nikon Monarch. 4.5x16 but i took a really bad tumble on my hunt and my rifle went flying. Needless to say, ill be in the market soon. I'm just going to pull the trigger on a Zeiss Rapid plex 600 From cameraland.com. -

Great video Addict, you've got me looking up the NM hunting regs already. But are you really going to make us wait a week for part 2?!?! C'mon man, I'll be out hunting...

WHAT RIFLE WILL YOU BE SHOOTING THIS SEASON?
Antmo23 replied to AZ_SAWBUCK's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Yep, that's the rules, you can't name them until you blood them! -
WHAT RIFLE WILL YOU BE SHOOTING THIS SEASON?
Antmo23 replied to AZ_SAWBUCK's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Ill be bringing Winnie Cooper, my Remington 700 in 300 WM. And I'll be pushing 168 TTSX hand loads. -
+100 on the Kuiu gear. I'm in the process of replacing all of my Max-1 with Kuiu in the Vias pattern. It really breaks up your outline in virtually every environment, plus it's the most comfortable stuff I've ever worn. Hunting or not..

As many as your drum will hold Wow, I was unaware that the limits had been lifted. Anyone know when this happened? If you need more than two or three rounds of .223 to take out a Javelina... you probably need to get a little closer- they're practically blind for heaven's sakes! Lol. What about 20 shots at under 100?

Way to go ShedhunterAz! How about a pic of Camo? Who doesn't like labs?
-
I carry a Havalon and a Swing Blaze. That should be all you need.
-
Red dog, please do whatever you can to get the lucky hunter to post pics of that beast! Or get permission to post the pics you have. I just what to see this giant buck and maybe relive the hunt thru a story. Either way, tell your buddy congrats, and start a new thread if he decides to post pics. Thanks!

Barnes VOR-TX. i was shooting the VOR-TX TTSX in 165 gr and got <1" groups 3 shot groups out of my 300 @ 100. And those TTSX are just plain nasty...
-
I'd buy one of those! I thinks it's just a matter of time, elk would have no problem living in that country. Has anyone heard of or seen the elk on Four Peaks? I've seen tracks and scat, but never seen them on the hoof...

Still waiting, but I usually cheat during January and chase carp.

I try to go in light with the thoughts that I'm going to come out heavy. I pack: 2 knives, a sharpener, paracord, fire starter, lighters, game bags, TP, baby wipes, GPS, 100 oz camelback, 1 liter collapsable water bottle, MY TAG, lion tag(just in case), bear tag, a Circe varmint call, rangefinder, camera, flash light, head lamp, batteries for everything, windicator, food, and extra boot laces. The one thing I don't hunt without is an Old Timer Honing Steel/hip buster that I inheritited from my late Father. He showed me how to use it on my first big game animal, an archery Javalina, and its been in every animal I've taken since. Wow, when it's all listed out, it doesn't seem so light...

+1. Stick to your guns, youth hunts are a privilege that must be earned.

My uncle took a drive this weekend up around Payson and Rye. He saw a guy packing out a bull due west of Rye, and saw a road killed elk by where the 188 splits off the 87.
