I've taken 5 bucks in my time, only one has been over 300 (343). Most have been anywhere between 100-150. My closest was 81 yards. So while some shots can be out there, I've lucked out and been able to get close.

It took me 6 years to draw my first elk tag, and i was puting in for archey cow and not getting drawn. Anyhow, i connected on a nice 5x5 on day seven so I'm 1 for 1 and hoping to continue my streak.

Colorado rifle elk and ill be putting in for elk in NM. And there's always rifle whitetail.

i read the pages, THEN responded and still didn't notice until someone else pointed it out..

How many pits have you been around? I have had pits around me my entire life, and I disagree with your statement entirely None, and I still have all of my face and fingers.

If I don't draw an elk tag, I'm going to put in for Colorado for elk and 'lope. I might put in for NM with my Cali hunting buddies, but Im not sure yet...

I've never heard of a pack of labs attacking, and killing anyone. ever. Dog attacks and deaths from maulings keep happening, and pits have a very high likeyhood of being the culprit time and time again. i dont like them one bit, too unpredictable.

I tried the route of those little tripod stools, but finding a flat spot in the mountains isn't easy. I usually just find a good rock to post up on. Might go the foam pad route this year.
