How many shots have you missed because you had buck fever??
C.Shoemaker replied to tatumsdad08's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
My first archery hunt about 15 years ago was my worst situation to date. I was in a tree stand in unit 8. A fork mule deer came within 30 yards of the tree. Before I could draw my bow, I started shaking. By the time the bow was drawn, I was shaking uncontrollably. I'm certain the ponderosa was shaking also. I let the arrow fly, missing by more than 30 or 40 feet. The shot was off by such a great distance, the deer barely reacted, just walked off slowly. I was too shook up to draw on him again. The experience resulted in bow hunting addition. NO CURE KNOWN. -
Thanks for the info. I've seen these terms before, but no clue what they were.

Last Day/Last Minute AZ Desert Mule Deer

Wow! What a great story. Congratulations on a great buck! -
Sounds like a great trip. A ton of meat to haul home!

Wow! what a great picture. Probably never get one that good again with a trail cam, at least regarding cats.

great shots. Thanks for sharing.

I purchased a Double Bull blind a few years ago, but haven't killed anything from it yet. The high cost was a concern as I didn't believe I needed a blind so large. After sitting in it for 12 or 14 hours at a time, I can't even imagine sitting in one of the smaller, cheaper ones. It takes a lot of mental effort to sit for that long and the extra space well worth it.

No Thanks! I have two hay burners I can't get rid of. They came with the wife.

I've eaten lots of wild boar and find it terrific. Backstrap on the grill and a little seasoning salt is all you need.

Good Job! Great Buck...

Awesome mule deer. I think you are the first to post an archery deer this December.

A huge concern for me too. I will be in the same situation in a few years. I'm thinking more in the lines of a Javelina hunt first. Something close to home within areas I'm very familiar with. Maybe you should mix it up. Blind hunting for a few hours in the morning or late afternoon, walk the flats another morning, glass a different day, etc. Anything to keep him interested. Good luck!

I just received a photo of a nice 4x4 from your unit taken two years ago. Should get your blood boiling.

Just got back from 5A. Not too vocal where I was located. A nice bull approx 330 was talking around 2:30 PM. by himself. Also heard some noise late at night.

Awsome deer and great photos. Congratulations. -
Wow! You didn't mention the decapitated heads the other day. Who is the rancher? Is this the guy Dennis does a lot of work for?
-
Congratulations! I've spent at least 15 winters trying to kill a buck like that in the desert. My hat is off to you!

I was an intern back in the early 90's. Worked at Lee's Ferry, collecting data on the results of the fluctuating flows on the river. Caught some nice fish when not working. Lots of fun and good memories...

I saw somethng similar about 10 years ago in unit 8 near Coleman Lake, also in the month of April. Unbelievable amount of elk grazing in and around the shallow lake with very little concern when I drove up. All I could do was put the truck in park and stare.

Wow! Sounds like you had a great time. Great browns. If you do see the 450, please try to post a picture.

Just awesome! Incredible collection.

How much for each? How about a photo?
