Any update on posting pics? Is this the guy from around bear flats?
-
I have done it on the same day down in the blue. Fresh brown elk and a older whitetail in the same bed. I found fresh brown muley sheds that day also. I will have to see if I can find the pics.

I have been chasing a buck that is still in velvet. i first saw this buck the weekend after xmas and again today. He is a big wide 4x4 but he is still in full vevet he shadows the doe herds but will not be agressive allowing much smaller bucks to push him away. My question is will he shed these horns and grow again keeping the velvet all year again? I assume he is some type of cactus buck.

I attended the Kingman meeting last night. There were around 14 others there also. For the most part nobody had any issues with the hunting and fishing liscense issues. As for the tag issues the room actually was asked who was in favor of premium hunts and the room voted majority against it. I think it was 5 for and 9 against premium hunts. The consensus of the room was that if premium elk tags did happen then only do the units that are managed for more and bigger bulls under the management plan these were units 9,10, 1 and 23. We had a couple guys from out of state that attended so we had a good perspective from a out of state opionon. Don Martin was there also and was taking notes so I dont know if he will chime in or not. We did have a good discussion about the tag insurance and that seemed to be popular in the room. Overall the most discussion seemed to be about the premium hunts. I voted against them, the main reason is I do not feel the way it was presented they are premium hunts. If anyone has specific questions on if something was discussed feel free to ask it will probally jog my memory.

These meetings are just like with baiting they will listen and then do exactley what they want. I will be at the kingman meeting to vote against the premium tags. I do like some of the liscense changes but this premium thing sucks. My guess is they already have their price range set and it will be a little cheaper than what is posted. They will probally go with 20 dollars cheaper on most of the tags and then say we listened and lowered the price of what we were suggesting. I'm taking the wife and a buddy so we can get no's against the premium tags.

What is funny after reading this thread and complaining about it with one of my friends, is that I would bet everyone on here pays alot more for much dumber things. I can dump 200 dollars just fishing in a weekend so in hindsite 200 for a elk tag is not all that out of line compared to alot of my other activities. As for the ones complaining about families affording this I don't see the prices for youth hunters changing unless your putting them in for the premium hunts. With that said I dont like the increase but I do like the simpler liscense and stamp fees. The biggest problem I will have with the fee increase is for my out of state son being able to afford to come home to hunt elk.

Adam it looks like 50.00 unless they put in for a premium tag then its that price.

I will take the blind if its still available.

Don is there anything else happening in the Kingman area this summer? -
10% percent does not automatically go to out of staters. They can draw up to 10% of the tags they are not assured the tags. So if there are 100 tags only 10 tags can go to out of staters but it does not hit the 10 all the time. With the amount of high point holders the bonus points round of out of staters can sometimes pull the out of state allotment before the regular draw. Especially on the units most sought after like 9,10,1 and 27.

Wow so when I use to hit the neadows just right in unit 1 and find 10 to 15 sheds a morning I was some how cheating because I found them to fast. When you hit the right country it not uncommon to find a bunch of sheds in a hurry. I know i have sure wiped my butt out on a 3 hour shed hunt before in some of the country you hit. -
My wife drew unit 10 early archery bull with only 4 bonus points. It's her first bull tag she is pretty happy right now.
-
My wife drew unit 10 archery bull in sept. Her first bull hunt. I drew 18a any elk tag. It's going to be a fun year. Had a buddy draw the same tag as me should get to put some elk on the ground.

Tackle wharehouse has a good selection of reapers.

Thats good now you just need 2 more elk and 3 antelope and you would be all set.

I got hit for 2 elk tags my wife either has a 9 or 10 early archery bull tag. She is rather excited this will be her first bull hunt.
