Nice bull and other photos of the hunt. So much more to a hunt than just the kill.

I hear them down on Topock marsh and they do go into Windsor at Havasu.

Quail season is coming
jim replied to Coues assassin's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
It's hard to get excited about quail hunting nowdays after experiencing the hayday years when I was a kid. I remember hunting Tonto Basin and the coveys would number in the hundreds. Bouquet ranch sounded like 1 giant covey from the a cross road all the way to the ranch area at the pond. There are a few birds up here around kingman but hardly enough to bother. I have never hunted over dogs. We had a few labs when I was a kid that would retrieve if they felt like it but not fully trained dogs. -
Nice cow, great eating right there.

I missed that other post thanks.

Blue Grouse Hunting?'s
jim replied to Couzer's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
If you can find the birds your 410 should work fine if they are not nervous birds. However if they have been hunted they can fly exctremely fast thru timber and the 12ga will be your best friend. There use to be a good population around greens peak. I had also started finding alot in 27 before the willow fire and have not been back there since the fire. -
I find now days it's more fun helping than killing. Your bull was karma for helping out your buddies.

Thats the biggest key buy your kids what you are using and they will get involved. If you take them and they are not doing what you are doing they will get bored and not want to participate. I don't think there is anything more boring than to watch someone glass.

Way to get it done.

Blue Grouse Hunting?'s
jim replied to Couzer's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
This is the statement for blue Grouse from the regs. To hunt blue grouse in Arizona, you need a valid hunting or combination license. A migratory bird stamp is not required. -
Thats a great story and buck congrats Hunter.

Man you guys are going to swell his head up so big It wili take me numerous hunts to be able to see around it. If there was anyone to send for the cape, Adam was the one. I am just surprised he didnt talk them into making a special flight to deliver it themselves. Good job Adam. -
Come on Adam you and Tracy could do a night out and catch a play.

With our group alot do hunt alone because we all have work and family issues. However let 1 of us get something down and need help packing and we have been known to drive clear across the state that night to help pack something out.

5 Days into the Archery elk season. Giant bulls on the ground...
jim replied to Koury Guide Service's topic in Koury Guide Service
The middle bull is sweet. I love when the main makes that sweeping bend for the 5th and 6th. -
I hunt alone alot just do to the fact not many people in my area hunt the way I do. However my favorite hunts anymore consist of when we have several guys in camp. I really enjoy that setting over alone just because I'm not near as hard core as I used to be and it's more fun helping someone else kill something than me killing.

I use to see them all the time down by saddle mountain lookout on the pueblo park area. That whole range across to potato patch useally has them depending on acorn crop.
