Awesome Morning Squirrel Hunt
jim replied to standman's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Awesome. -
Watched my Grandson kill his second Muzzle loader pig on Christmas day and kill his second Muzzle loader deer the next day. It was a good Christmas weekend. I also got a new knife that I used on his pig.

Great buck there would be no pass from me.
-
Was out last night found a herd of 8 does with a 1.5 year old fork horn still with them.
-
Off and on up here by Kingman have seen some good rut activity and still seeing bucks by themselves.
-
Don't make a try on him unless you have him in a perfect spot. The least amount of bothering him or the does the more chance you will get the perfect set up.

The outdoorsman system is hard to beat. I can switch back in forth between my 50's and 56's quickly.
-
I saw some spikes in November so if they make it, 8 will be good in 5 to 6 years.
-
Not much change up here. Nothing new on the cameras.
-
I'm checking cams again sat morning will update. Working on finding bucks for the grand kids muzzle loader hunt in 16.
-
I saw a smaller buck 3 weeks ago with his nose buried and would not stop following her. He and another bigger buck was shadowing the herd all day. I have also started picking up bigger bucks cruising thru on my cameras this last week.

Go into the country nobody is telling you about. The elk will move into the country they are not being bothered in. It does not have to look like elk country to hold elk this time of year. Glass some transitional areas that mix with desert country you might just be surprised to find them grazing in cactus country.

I would really like them but can't decide if I want to sale my 15's to fund it.
-
Great story.

Well at least the game and fish could not have spelled it out any clearer on the Kaibab elk hunts. It seems like with all the cameras up there somebody should have what few elk are there dialed in and this tag if they don't draw anything else should work great for them.

I can pack out a boned whitetail and a days gear with my Badlands 2200 with no issues.

That's pretty cool. I think I would get the a rug made of the hide. -
Great bull. Congratulations.

My buddy had major shoulder surgery get the form from game and fish have the doctor fill out the form.Return to game and fish. He has a temporary permit until march next year.

Hit the areas the game and fish talk about and walk the wash's until you start finding track. Then find high ground and sit and glass the cactus slopes on the first sun hitting slopes. Pigs are not that unpredictable they will usually be in the area you find them over and over again until their feed changes or they are pressured. Just remember to glass small they are not big critters and can easily be glassed over.

Between deer hunting and other activities we have not seen that many quail in the Kingman area. We did find a few coveys yesterday and knocked off 12 birds. No young birds tho they were all big adult birds.
-
You saved that buck from a long and slow death. Or a terrorizing one when the coyotes got to him. Great job on a lot of great bucks.
-
Congrats to you and your daughter. You guys are really creating great memories.

Adam I have glassed them off 7 mile road when me and Bob would hunt down there.
