I wish I was the kid that got to kill an Ok sheep as a kid. So for the guys that don't think kids should be able to draw the good tags. Then at what age should a person have to be to not buy a bonus point and actually join the draw?

I drew a deer tag and will be giving it to my grandson. He did not draw a youth tag this year but i will make sure he gets to hunt. He is the future and i will gladly keep him hooked on hunting by giving him my tag.

I solute the ones that get them out there. It appears my grandson did not draw a youth tag this year, so i will be donating my tag to him. I will focus on him enjoying the hunt even tho because of school he will not get the time to hunt as he would have, if he would have drawn the junior tag. We all want tags and there is a fine line on hunter recruitment and keeping the hunters we have, so no matter what they do it will not make everyone happy.

I have to disagree about the youth hunts. I have helped on many youth hunts and it was those hunts that made them hunters and they continue to hunt most of them were getting kids out that were from non hunting families. Most youth stay in state and continue to hunt while going to college that i have dealt with. The more youth we get out from behind the electronics the better. Look around your neighborhood and friends and recruit some non hunting youth. You will be surprised on the recruitment end result.

Back in 2007 thru 2009 I would catch 1 or 2 a trip on spinnerbaits when bass fishing. They were always good 3 to 4 pounders. It looks like the population has come along nicely since then.

Big bulls tend to find the smallest nasty spot they can. It doesn't have to be way back in. It just needs to have little human traffic. A big bull will live in a very small area once he settles in for the winter unless he gets bumped out.

See the pigs in topock gorge all the time just never where you can hunt them. They are all along the back waters on the river.

40lbs Stripers are fairly common on the Hudson River... Since the AZ state record is only 29lbs, good luck catching this class of fish in AZ... You might want to look at all the records. Just change the line on what he is using to some good line you will be amazed how much farther it will go with lighter fresh line than what comes on it.

With that said, I picked up a Browning BPS 12 gauge and a Winchester Long Beard XR choke. The load I will use is the Winchester Long Beard XR 3" 1200 fps, 1 3/4oz #5 shot. That should work just fine.

Buy her the youth 870 20 ga. Put a limb saver pad on it and 3 inch turkey loads. If she can shoot your 12 ga use the limb saver pad on it she will be able to handle the kick for Turkey.

If you want her to hunt with you then you will have to put her in on your application for regular hunts. If you want her to do the youth hunts you will put her in on a separate application with just her. Be aware tho that a lot of the junior hunts are hard to draw and she might go a couple years without drawing. Your best bet in my opinion is to put her in with you on the general tags. Another choice is to put her in for an area that has left over tags in it. If your not worried about size and want to get her a hunt while she is interested it would be the best bet for making sure she has a tag this year.
