Congrats on a great hunt.

My wife has always supported the outdoor life. I use to hunt alot more than I do now. The hunts are almost a chore anymore I much prefer being on the front of my bass boat fishing.

If your hunting with Adam there will be plenty of shotguns. Make sure you try his 28 ga it's a sweet shooter.

Elk are very vocal year round if you ever listen to a herd of cows that are not being bothered you will hear alot of cow talk. Get on google earth and find some areas on the ranch that have an area of openness that is in one of the patch's that the roads go around but do not cross thru. Some are a couple miles across hike into these areas before daylight and you will usually find the herds in there feeding. They are easy to see on google earth. During mid day put the wind in your face and creep thru the thickest stands of trees and follow the trails watching ahead of you.

Good of you to et back on here. I hope you draw again and have a great time. I have not hunted Kaibab since 1997 rifle and 2001 for archery. That is a special place tho.

Yep that was the most polished bones I have ever seen. I know the birds were not going to be happy when they showed up, the dogs left very little to eat. I will be back up there to call. We saw anywhere from 2 to 10 coyotes every day.

So what if there were cameras. You seem to think no one else should be in the woods while you hunt. If there was sign at those tanks be there first and the other issues should take care of themselves. However if you choose to sit in someones pop up blind don't bother bitching because they kick your butt out of it. I would have no problem backing out if you beat me there but i will be taking my blind with me.

Well if you don't get a chance to scout just hit the roads in your chosen area around 4 in the morning and walk them listening for some bulls. Then get close and see what daylight brings. Some of the best scouting can be walking roads at night listening to the elk.

How was the tag donated to you? If it was the veterans group are they not providing camp and help?
