That sucks man. I would have thought they would allow a reservist assigned to the base to hunt in that area. I'm still hoping one day they would allow contractors. Dang, I wish I was still considered a legal dependent, there are so many good areas you can just drive up to.

Over this weekend it's not bears you have to look out for, but those 4-5 ft long black tail rattlers!!! This guy was about 3 feet away before we saw him, and right in our path. Didn't make a sound. Lucky for him I didn't introduce him to my boom stick.

Another place would be Dry Canyon, like your going to Tucson proceeding through the BP Checkpoint, continue driving north around 1.5 to 2 miles and make a left towards the Whetstone Mountains. This left turn will be the only turn around spot within that distance, so you can’t miss it! There is a parking area as soon as you go from pavement to dirt. You should be able to find a good spot out there.
