1 step closer. My buddy picked up his and my rifle from the smith today after getting muzzle brakes added. They are cerakoted black and look great. Mine is the 5 port brake on the heavy barrel. The Talley lightweight rings showed up today too. Now I need to order a scope... -
I don't have any $$$ anymore. I haven't really done much with my crawler since my first son was born almost 5 years ago. I finally broke down and sent it over to a buddies place to pay him to do some work on it since I have zero fee time with 2 kids under 5 years old. I have devoted more time and energy into hunting over the last 5 years though. It is easier to grab a paid for fully functional gun and go to the field to hunt than it is to find time to fix a broken crawler & trailer and find the money to pay for the parts to fix what you break when you go out.

Yep. $100 pending.

I have thought about using it on my late elk hunt next month, but it has no doors, top, windshield, etc. Sounds very cold...

Mine is hunting and rockcrawling. Still not cheap. I do have a 500 CID Caddy V8 in my rockcrawler though so it is kind of a dirt hot rod.

If anyone has one please let me know. I would like to put 1 on a recent addition to the collection that is missing 1.
-
Yep. I have never been a small person. My football coaches gave me the name in high school and I cant argue that it doesn't fit.

I will take them please.

Very cool truck. My other hobby is being a gearhead too, so I love to see stuff like this.

I bought a box of 208gr ELD-X to start working with once I get the rifle back and the scope ordered. I ordered rings and they should be here soon. Talley 1pc Ring/Base Combo. I will probably start working with the 208gr and H1000 to start with. -
A buddy of mine has the 300 Win Mag and really likes it. I would definitely consider it high on the list if I was in the market for a new rifle.

Either buy brass new or form it from new 7mm Rem mag brass. It will be the most consistent. I have made most of my brass from Remington head stamp 7mm Rem mag brass. It has worked well for me so far. The gun and load shoot sub-moa easily. Harley

Forbes Model 24B 6.5x55 30mm Talleys and extras

I am glad I can't afford/justify this. I love 6.5x55. -
I agree Fork. I closed on my elk last year from about 800 to 550 yards basically 100% out in the open. There was 1 bush between us and I made sure to keep that bush as much between us as possible, but I closed at least 200-250 yards in the dead open country before I was able to get into a depression out of sight and make up more ground. I closed to about 260 yards. From there I was completely out of cover and couldn't risk getting closer. I wasn't crawling to make that first 200 yards either. I was standing up, moving slowly, wearing a homemade camo poncho that helped break up my outline.

I would be willing to bet that most of the "good to a thousand" crowd would be hard pressed to put there first shot on a 36" steel plate at 500 yards, let alone on a deer size kill zone at 500 yards.
-
I hate it too. People are willing to fling lead. It is dangerous and unethical. I shoot more than most hunters do and I wouldn't want to take a shot past about 500 yards with the rifle I am most comfortable with, less with anything else. I am building a rifle now that I hope to be able to take an 800 yard shot with but even that will only be with tons of practice.

Very nice looking rifle.

If you have a factory stock for a tang safety style m77 long action let me know please. I am interested in picking one up at a reasonable price.

Has anyone used a williams peep sight on an enfield 303? I picked up a sporterized 303 today and am thinking about ditching a scope in favor of iron sights. They factory rear iron sight is missing from the rifle though. Hence the reason I am thinking about the peep sight. Harley

Seriously WTF. it is/was closed in 3 locations today and now I am being rerouted through prescott or payson...

If not I really like the Redfield revolution 4x12x40 with accurange. Probably set you back 250 or so and is a good entry level scope. I have the 3x9 and 4x12 on several rifles and really like them. They are owned by leupold.
