H4831, H414, H1000, RL22, IMR4831. All good starting powders for 7mm Mag most of the time. I am working with RL22 with 168gr bullets in 7mm Rem Mag and they shoot well. Either 4831 powder are more common to find on the shelf than the other 3 listed above though.

Rowsey needs to go back to basics. Armbar = win. I hope Cruz wins, but I hate watching him fight. He is like Floyd Mayweather. He dances and counterpunches his way to a win because you can't hit him.

Very nice. I love the 44 mags on the Blackhawk frame with the round trigger guard. -
Favorite "Non-Steak House" Restaurant in the Valley?

The Ocotillo in central phoenix was pretty darn good for our corporate gathering. The pork belly skewers are literally one of the best things in have eaten, and if you know me, I like to eat. Harley -

Angry Crab. Trifecta mild for sissies, ramp it up if you like it hotter. It isn't fancy, but it is good seafood so it isn't cheap. -
Myself as well. I will be in better shape, and be better prepared for the wind. I upgraded alot of gear this year, but nicer gear still don't catch deer apparently... I will have more hours scouting too.

I will start by saying thanks to everyone on here that has directly and indirectly help teach me how to be a more skilled hunter. It didn't help this season, but I know I am getting better. I had a late cow elk hunt again this year and was very surprised to get another hunt after being drawn last year too. I didn't get to scout as much as I would have like which I am sure contributed to the outcome. I hunted pretty hard for what I am capable of this year and don't have any real regrets. This season was much more difficult than last year and I attribute that to the weather and less precipitation compared to last. During the whole hunt my 3 friends and I seemed to be just 1 step behind. We only had 1 real opportunity and my best hunting buddy got a little anxious and messed up the range. He was on a hillside and had 2 cows come into view. He ranged them at 275yrds and setup. I was on the opposite side if the hill and heard shots ring out. I worked my way to him and he had taken 3 shots and missed them all. I setup and he gets me in the area of where they disappeared in some trees. One pops out and I hit the trees near them at 381 yards. My buddy looked confused and I didn't know why. The elk never cleared the trees for me to get a shot before dark, and the only elk I saw personally in 7 days were gone. In the truck on the way back to camp my buddy tells me he thinks he missed the range on the elk. The next day we got back on the hill before dawn hoping to catch them again. No luck. My buddy hiked down to where he shot at the elk and had me range him. 403 yards. He ranged the elk through a gap in the trees and I think he caught a tree instead of the elk. It was a good hunt otherwise and we learned alot more about our hunt unit that will hopefully help translate to success down the road. I took this picture the last morning and was shocked how well it came out. It was the only good shot I got the whole week.

My next shotgun will be a browning a5 16ga. I want an original, but the new one they released this year looks sweet too. I love 28ga also. I haven't shot many, but the ones I have shot were sweet.

We were in 7e on a cow elk hunt. We hunted from peaks to the northern border of the unit. It was a great experience, but frustrating at times as well.

A few more pics including the first porcupine I have ever seen in AZ. I was a big fat old dude. He is running away and you can see his butt in the 2nd picture.

I am totally interested for sure, but I am a B level shooter at best. I will have only had a gun capable of even some of those ranges for about a month prior to the shoot.

I have a set of Viper hd's if you need them.

Springfeld 30-40 Krag with 200+ rounds $475 or trade

Duuuude. This is a great rifle and priced right. It will make someone very happy. My dad had 1 and it was SWEET. It hit what you pointed at, not matter the distance it seemed like. Somebody needs to jump on this. -
If it is in Tucson does anybody really care where it is? Tucson is a place you don't go unless you are driving through to get to GMU's in the 30's right?

It sucks moving the late cow hunts back to just before Christmas too. It is hard to take the hunt off, and then want to take extra time off at the holidays which are only a week or so later.

I honestly believe most of the Yeti thing is hype and marketing. Many of the coolers that cost less are just as good or better at keeping ice, and a cheaper.

I have a Grizzly and like it a lot.

I am newer to the nice trigger thing. I only own a couple decent timney triggers, and I have left them at the factory setting of about 3 lbs. If I had more experience with nice triggers, maybe I go lighter. Those are hunting rifles. If I had a target only rifle I would probably work down to something much lighter.

They are great shooters. My dad had 1 in 22-250 and it shot very well. 25-06 is a great round.

I would love to participate in this when it comes up. I want watch and learn mostly and drop some rounds aND see what is what. I like the golf idea. I can make a targets if necessary, I have a piece of 1/4" AR 500 plate sitting in my side yard. Harley

I had the same debate recently. I went Viper HD. I used them this year during elk season and really liked them alot. I normally carry 8x42 in a harness and the 15x were for the pack. This year a buddy needed glass so I lent him the 8s and carried the 15x. They were great as long as you didn't do a ton of free hand glassing. Free hand with a tree or a knee to get a rest on and they were nice. I am new to the glassing arena so don't put alot of stock in my opinion. Go to sportsman's and compare them. The vipers felt better to me.

I carried a Savage heavy barrel 300 mag this elk season that I had a big fat muzzle brake to. This is the first time carrying this rifle in the field. The rifle is top heavy and always wants to invert and go muzzle down on the sling. It was pretty frustrating. How do you carry your rifle and or what sling are you using to combat this? I ended carrying it muzzle down sometimes because it was making me mad. I didn't like it though as I am afraid of jamming the muzzle in the dirt/snow. Harley

My first Turret style scope is in the mail. I am taking notes...I don't want to make more mistakes than I need to.
