Get the adapter hose for the BBQ cylinder too. That thing is awesome. All night, no bottle changes even on high. It was a life saver on our December elk hunt last year the night we spent in the tent. It was nice on the javalina hunt too being able to keep it cranked all night long.

I have time before I get anxious about getting on a hunt with my kids. They are only 5 & 2 otherwise I might be more apt to burn the points. The other reason I am willing to wait is my normal hunt unit of 20A just went up in smoke, and 85% of the terrain I hunted and knew well was in the burn zone. I am probably going to try and grab a left over tag this year to get out and hunt, but those are even hard to get now.

Congrats on a nice hunt. I am hoping that in the next couple years I can get I can get a hunt up that way. It has been a long time since I went deer hunting.

I thought the same thing about the bonus points reflecting a no draw, but 1 of the guys in my group still shows 0 points.

Long range shooters & 6.5 guru's - your opinion
Hoss50 replied to azslim's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
If you don't mind long actions, I like 3 rounds. I have a gun in 6.5x55 now, plan to get another soon, and quite possibly will rebarrel a 257 Weatherby to 264 Win Mag when I burn out the barrel. I dream of building a custom in 6.5x06AI. 264 Win Mag 6.5-06 6.5x55 Swedish. -
Very sad story. Rivers and creeks during monsoon season are always a gamble, even if they are dry where you are. Myself and bunch of 4 wheeing buddies spent 6 hours stranded on the wrong side of the Aqua Fria one night when we were out four wheeling during monsoon. We purposely only wheeled a couple trails that were very wide. Another group of people that night were in a much harder trail near the river bottom, and were not as lucky. Nobody died, but one person suffered a broken leg, and one guys Jeep was washed completely away down the canyon and destroyed. To see pictures of what at the time was a pretty built hardcore rockcrawling rig end up looking like a tin can under someone's boot it pretty amazing. Water is terribly powerful, and not to be messed with or underestimated.

Has anyone used any yet. I just saw a couple bags of 300 win mag brass at Cabelas. It was already annealed and was half the price of nosler. Anyone checked out a batch yet to see how it loads and lasts?

25-06 will get it done too. Get a good bullet and hit it right. I used a 257 weatherby a few years ago on my cow elk hunt. 280 yards and no problem. I used 115gr Berger HVLD bullets.

I am sure there is a dog rescue that would love to have them if you don't sell them.

It looks like the big cell is going to miss most of the north valley, but my buddy in Wittman is about to get smashed it looks like.

Deer is "Pending" on my portal right now.

7mm-08 vs 6.5 creedmoor

What Lance said. I personally lean toward 6.5CM of those 2 you listed. Outside those 2 I like old school. 6.5x55 & 7x57. Both are calibers of love and of the past, but both are still great options if you are willing to look to history and ignore fads & the main stream. -
Do you pay out of state tuition for them? If yes then they are AZ residents.

Nice. What scope did you go with?

For the 300 win mag you should be looking to shooting heavier bullets IMO. To take advantage of the round to me you need 190gr+. I am working with 208gr ELD-M in my 300 win mag.

Yes, just limit your distance to ranges you know you can hit consistently. I took my cow elk a couple years ago with a 257 weatherby at 280 yards. It did the job well. I wouldn't have taken a shot past about 400 yards though on an elk. With only 115gr bullet I think that was about the limit. I took that rifle that year because I knew I can hit with it. I have alot bigger rifles in my safe, but I didn't have confidence in making good hits with them at longer ranges. Shot placement is more important than cartridge power. A big round in a bad spot is worse than a smaller round in a good spot. I was shooting 115gr Berger VLDs handloaded at mild-moderate velocity for the 257 weatherby. My back-up rifle on last year's cow elk hunt was a sporterized mauser in 6.5x55 swedish shooting 140gr SST's. My 257 weatherby was on loan to another guy on my hunt.

I normally put in for 20A, but opted not to this year. I am sad the unit went up in smoke, but at least I didn't burn a tag in there this year. Literally all my normal hunting areas burned in that unit. It will be interesting/depressing in there next year for Javo season.

Has anyone picked one up yet? Thoughts, reviews? I have been really wanting a 1911 in 10mm for a hunting sidearm. Until recently you had a choice of a Rock Island or the next step up was Kimber. Trust me, I love my Kimber's but at over $1000 I am really considering this ruger at a more budget friendly price. Harley

I have a 2007. 5.9L as well. Minus the garbage transmission, I love this truck. It gets bogged down a little towing our 35' Weekend Warrior, but most 3/4 trucks would. That's a heavy bastard. Has made it to the White Mountains and through 7 mile and Salt River with no issues other then the truck getting warm because of slow speeds, being behind a semi. 6 speed for me. Nv5600 is much better than. The auto. My dad's is the auto, but the previous owner added a gear vendors OD unit which is awesome.

My bOSS has the Jeep Grand Cherokee that has the small diesel in it like the current Ram 1500. It isn't the same motoras yours, but I know dodge is having issues with the DEF pumps on those too. He drove a loaner for about 3 weeks because the pump was on backorder.
-
If you can get away with it, delete kit. I purposely bought a pre 2007.5 truck so I had the 5.9l cummins without any DEF, EGR, or PDF crap on it. I plan to run this truck until it falls apart or I find another low mile 2007 or earlier. My dad picked up a nice 2006 cummins last year with 70,000 miles on it. I know they may not be as nice as the newer stuff, but they are much easier and cheaper to work on.

That is cool. If I didn't think I was about to dump a bunch of money in a house I would probably buy this just because it is different and cool.
