I just bought a bulk of various ammo for 6.5x55. I am going sell some or all of the ammo pictured. If you are interested in a certain type or everything make me a fair offer. Update: Federal is sold. PPU is sold pending meet up next week. If something changes I will bump the thread and let you know what is still available. Harley

Forget about Rancho's unless you are going to pay the big dollars for the adjustable series, then maybe. Bilstein 5100's is what I run, and recommend when people ask me.

Everything is sold pending funds/meeting.

Find your load and sight your rifle in for about 225 yards or so. With that kind of zero you should be point of aim in the kill zone to at least 300. The round shoots so flat it is awesome.

4x12x40 would fit pretty well for a 3006 I think. For a good budget friendly scope that gets it done I like the Redfield revolution series. They are made by Leupold in Oregon. I really like there hold over reticle. I currently have 4 of these scopes and like them all. My buddy has 1 on his 3006 and we have stretched it out to 500 yards with no problems. If you want to pay for a nicer scope by all means do, but don't overlook this one if this is your budget price range.

I have had great luck with the 117gr Hornady BTSP for a cheaper target and shorter range hunting round. My gun likes them better than Nosler Ballistic tips and better than SST's. Berger have been the best followed by the Hornady 117gr BTSP.

Just keep it, and shoot it. Someone is going to get a nice deal otherwise.

If you want the actual recipe pm me and I will go find it. The 7mm brass will give slightly less case capacity vs weatherby brass, but it is alot cheaper if you don't have weatherby brass. It also comes up shorter I the neck area so trimming for length isn't necessary often. I have used 264 win mag brass too, but the 7mm Rem mag brass seems to last longer for some reason. The 264 brass was winchester and lasted about 4-5 loadings. The 7rm brass is remington and is doing better. The primer pockets are usually what goes. Sometimes a neck split. I am not loading super hot either. I found a good load that has shot well and didn't monkey with it. I figure sub-moa at 500 yards is perfectly acceptable for a stock weatherby vanguard with 3x9 scope.

H1000 and Berger HVLD. I make my brass from fire forming 7mm Rem mag brass. I have a load that is sub-moa.

What Lance said. I am using g H1000 and RL22 in mine. RL 23 is a more temperature stable version of RL22. I here good things about Retumbo too for 7rm. Once you find your powder though I would say make sure to stock up a little. Powder is pretty easy to find right now, but that isn't always the case.

Which cartridge?

How much are you look in for, and I will ask him.

My dad has 1, but he hasn't shot it much, and with the prices they command I doubt he will. I almost fell over when I saw dudes tripping over each other to buy one on here for $700 awhile back. My dad won't sell his I am sure. He may not have been a main reason they were built, but he twisted the ear hard of a Ruger rep one time about making them. About a year or 2 later they popped up for sale so I made him buy 1.

That is a good deal on the remington even for just a donor action. If I hadn't bought something I wasn't planning on earlier today, I probably get this.

If you were going to start reloading for a 6.5x55 from scratch what bullets and power would you focus on? A CZ 550 FS just followed me home unexpectedly. http://cz-usa.com/product/cz-550-fs-6-5-x-55-adj-5-rd-fixed-mag/ This will be a medium range light hunting rifle. 400-600 yards on deer is my hope for this. Maybe out to 400 on elk. I really want to hold out for a unit 12 deer hunt soon so I thought maybe a Barnes 127gr LRX, and then possibly another load with a ELD-X, Scenar, Berger, etc? This is the components I know I will use: Lapua Brass Federal GM210's Thoughts or insite? Thanks Harley

I finally got off my dead arse today and started hiking again. I took my 4 year old up to Thunderbird hills and we did a couple miles on one of the mountains. He had a good time and I wasn't in quite as bad of shape as I thought. I still have alot to do though to get some lbs off and get in better shape. I did wear my badlands pack too to start getting used to it. If you see a fat guy with a badlands pack on and a 4 year old ahead of me, it is probably me. Does anyone have any other good hikes locally?

Randalls had 10mm brass in stock buy the pc. I think it was starline.

Hunting with a 9mm carbine?
Hoss50 replied to Rock30golf's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Those are standard velocity ballistics though. If you are running +p or +p+ you will be in a much closer comparison. I shoot winchester ranger sxt in 127gr that are 1250fps from a pistol barrel. -

Hornady XTP or the Barnes all copper HP or something along those lines is what I would be after. Some of the hot load companies like Under wood or Buffalo bore should have a good load. -

What was said above. It wouldn't be my first choice either, but if I didn't have a better options I would do it. Try and use a good round, and good shot placement. With a round that size you are just making your margin for error minimal. -
Dang good deal. If I didn't already spend a bunch of $$$ on my 300 win mag I would be all over this.

9 lbs with the scope or bare? What kind of trades are you interested in? Are you going to be near Phoenix soon?

Why not build a rifle off the savage action on this rifle?
