I sized my Nosler brass before use. Just a quick run through the sizer and they were good to load. No reason not to take a couple min to run through the sizer die.

Any buck, even a "dink" buck is a good buck especially if it is your first. Congrats on getting it done.

1911 in .38 super is what I am going to take on my first HAM hunt this year. 124gr hornady XTP is what I am going to try.

I enslaved, er I mean recruited more help. I am now loading 7.62x39 for my rifle javelina hunt. The 5yr old is cleaning primer pockets, and the 2yr is helping me size and decap.

I had a 16ga 870 express about 15 years ago that did the same thing. They had me send it back and polished the chamber. It helped, but still needed to break in.

I am not to concerned about it for javelina, but I normally carry this same pistol on most of my big game hunts as a close range weapon and defense weapon if necessary. I want to get a nice load that has some oomph to it. I know that getting a round up in the 1300 FPS range shouldn't be hard, but I want to make sure I am using a good combination and do it safely. I have found some info on Lil' Gun that I am going to use. I am going to start around 12.5gr and work up and see where it goes with pressure, accuracy, and recoil. I am seeing info that 14.0gr should be roughly the max load. I am just looking to get a little more oomph than factory ammo will provide without having to pay the price for Underwood or Buffalo Bore or something expensive.

I looked at a bunch of the Comp stuff, but during the readings I also found them saying a lot that it matter if the gun was compensated or standard barrel. The compensated guys appear to be willing to shoot heavier loads with less pressure issues. I think I am going to try some load work ups with Lil' Gun and HS6 since I have both in my powder supply right now. Worse case scenario I go buy a box of Winchester Silvertip HP's and go after slaying a piggy. I know they shoot well in my gun, but I was hoping to get a load with a little more oomph just for fun. 1250FPS from a 5" gun isn't great, especially since I have a 4.25" gun.

What Have You Killed With A 10mm?
Hoss50 replied to GlockMan's topic in Handgun Hunting for Coues Deer
2014 was a good year and and Dan Wesson 10mm would be awesome. I am looking heavily at the new Ruger 1911 in 10mm and also the Kimber TLE in 10mm. One of the 2 will be my next pistol. -
How about 7e early rifle cow with 3 resident BP. Thank you.

The meat shop in south phoenix does whole pigs. A customer of mine said there is another shop in the same area that does whole pigs too. He used to do them alot for tailgate parties.

Can I get odds on 7E early rifle antlerless, 7E late rifle bull, and 7E late rifle antlerless with resident 3 points please?

I bought the alien gear combo and thought it was great. I bought a paddle holster & IWB holster for my Sig 2022 as the combo and the value is outstanding. I also bought a 1911 shell so I can switch either holster to carry my 1911 if I choose to. I have had them for about a year, and other than the screws loosening occasionally, they are great. Locktite the screws as mentioned and you will be fine. I like that I can just buy extra shells for other guns and use the same holsters for everything if I choose. If you sell the gun for the holster, you can just send the shell back to Aliengear and they will send you a new one for your new carry gun. Or you can just buy the shells outright. I also found that my old Sig P250 fits great in the same shell I use for the 2022 so I don't even need another shell for that one because it is so similar in size and shape. I previously had a Bladetech UCH which I LOVED. They stopped making that holster though, and when I finally broke the UCH after about 7 years I wanted another. I couldn't get the same holster so I decided to try Alien Gear on advice from a friend. I am glad I did. I got the 2 holsters from Alien gear for about the same price as the single holster from Bladtech would have cost. That said, I did really like my bladtech too.

Tags in the unit I have been hunting got cut WAY back which is good. The unit has been getting tougher over the last few years.

The draw odds and success rate page is all jacked up. Hunts are showing 800% success rates and really low draw odds...

Alien gear is what I am using now and really like.

Motor rebuild F150 5.4 Triton shop recommendations
Hoss50 replied to n2horns's topic in The Campfire
Look and see what Ford has for crate motors for it. Then find a shop you trust to do the swap. -
Time to get your CCW. Getting delayed isn't uncommon especially if you don't provide a SSN on the form. If anybody shares your name that is a scumbag or has used your name as an alias you can be flagged when you go through the background check.

Custom .257 Weatherby Mag with Leupold VX 3 Scope 6.5 to 20 with Turrets
Hoss50 replied to azbullelkman's topic in Classified Ads
If I didn't already have a .257 weatherby that shot really well, and more money I would own this for sure. This is a smoking deal for a great caliber on a nice build. Bump... -
That video explains it pretty well. It is really good.

I bought a work sharp and really like it. It is a great way to get a knife sharp quick. If I have time, and on certain knives I still use stones, but for kitchen knives and normal pocket knives the work sharp will get them squared up pretty quick. My mother in law got one last year after I did her kitchen knives with mine. She was pretty impressed by it. We don't have super nice kitchen knives though. Just decent knives, so I don't mind putting them on the work sharp. If I had some high end stuff, I might look into something more refined.

Deep fried is awesome...

If you don't get one used do as mentioned and get the one with the big side windows. That is the only regret I have about my Kodiak 10x14. I have the model with the air vents, but not the big windows.

After seeing how bad it seems like a lot of the late hunts went this year, I am seriously going to have think about what my plan is going to be for the future. I don't have a lot of points, but I know if I want to start banking them for a better hunt and start putting in for earlier hunts.

If I had a 9mm carbine or other pistol carbine I would probably take it for sure. I am going to use my CZ527 in 7.62x39 for my rifle hunt. It is the smallest lightest thing I have, and isn't overly powerful.

Can a bullet go too fast to expand?
Hoss50 replied to MMACFIVE's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I have had too heavy of bullet do a pass through shot before. I used a 275gr semi-Spitzer out of a 338 win mag pass right through a cow elk. The shot was at 40 yards. It was a .338 caliber entrance wound and not much if any bigger exit. I was young and learned that lesson fully that day. The elk was not lost thankfully, my dad had already hit her with a couple shots, but she was tough and didn't want to go down. I don't use heavy bullets like that anymore on cow elk. They are big, but not that big. The last cow elk I had went down from 115gr Berger HVLDs. I gave her 2 shots, but found out afterwards that the first shot would have been just fine. You don't need big bullets, just the right bullets ahead good shots.
