  1. Hi All, I have an older 110FP 300 win mag that I am planning to covert to 9.3x62. Basically I need to make it work as a 3006. Has anyone done this conversion and help me figure out what I need beside the bolt head? I am seeing that I may have a large hole bolt face and magnum length firing pin, but PTG shows their bolt faces use small firing pin. Do I need a new firing pin too? Thanks Harley

    Suppressed shooting

What cans, and do your ARs have adjustable gas blocks? If so you can adjust them so you get them less gassy. They do get dirtier with a can, but it is still worth it. I use brake cleaner first to flush a bunch of the crud. Then I get it wet with a spray CLP and use a brass brush to break up alot of the remaining gunk. It isn't to bad to clean them once tou do it a few times as long as you are not one of the people who is crazy about it and wants it super clean. Also, don't use brake cleaner on plastic parts, it can melt them. The upper receiver and bolt are what I use the brake cleaner on mostly.

    Application Strategy… Mistake?

Last year then 10 non-res drew in the bonus. Last year was also the year after one of the best winters ever and anyone with points probably cashed them in. If there were 200 tags the first 40 should have been bonus point tags regardless of res/non-res status. Only 10 can go non-res, max.

    Application Strategy… Mistake?

You drew in the bonus pass. 40 tags are in the bonus. Up to 10% could be non-res. It doesn't mean 10% have to be non-res. For me choice 1 is always a long shot. Choice 2 is what I actually want, assuming I don't have enough points to draw either tag in the bonus pass. The problem with that though is if Choice 1 is above your point level, but Choice 2 you have enough bonus points for, you will always draw Choice 2. For a chance to hit a long shot for Choice 1, both choices need to be outside of the bonus pass 1-2 points. If either tag in Choice 1 or 2 is a guaranteed draw you will always draw that tag. This year I had 4 points. Choice 1 was approx a 13 point draw. Choice 2 was approx 5-6 points. We drew the 2nd choice in the lottery draw. If you draw in the lottery draw after the bonus, when your app gets pulled they look at Choice 1. If Choice 1 has tags left, you get them. If not they look at choice 2. If you they have choice 2 tags left you get them. If not they put you back in the 3-5 draw which basically means you won't get a tag unless choice 3-5 has a really easy to draw option like a limited opportunity type tag.
  6. Check Healys. They had some 410 the other day. I belive I have some lead #4 if you can find any let me know.

Looks like myself and 2 friends are elk hunting. Not sure if bull or cow. I would have preferred that my son had drawn the youth tag, but whatever. I will probably sign over my tag to him.

How bad is the Kachina peaks hunt, actually??

The 7E hunts are hard. Especially the peaks and late hunts. For peaks you better be in shape of have some horses I think.

    25 caliber carbon six barrel.

I love 25 cal. I shoot a 257 weatherby shooting the 128gr Hammers at 3340. It is a 26" tube so it may not get suppressed.

  21. Battery impact and small air comp instead of the power tank. PT are $$$ and take up alot of room. Hatchet For Jack High lift jack Electrical wire, a relay, random electrical connectors and fuses. Wire strippers and crimper. I used a 20V dewalt drill battery as an impromptu jump pack last week. The batteries in my truck wrapped out and would quite crank it. I had the battery for my impact under the seat. I cut 2 section of 12ga wire from my spare wire real and steipped the ends. Jambed the wire in the + and - terminal on the drill battery and then the truck battery. 30 seconds later the truck turned right over. 4 way lug wrench Long gun of some sort. Spare ammo for your long gun and edc. First aid kit Trauma kit including at least 2 tourniquets. Toilet paper Fire starter kit Water purification of some sort Spare water and food. Compass Garmin in-reach Phone booster pack Fluids for the vehicle including oil, ATF, grease, etc. Spare random nuts and bolts, nails, screws. Multille flashlight and headlamps with extra batteries. I am sure there is more.
