  1. So Eric @ Axisworks confirmed for me today that my 257 Weatherby mag barrel is shot out. It is a basic Weatherby Vanguard (Howa 1500). Now I need to figure out what calibers I need to be thinking about for rebarrel. That is where CWT comes in! Help me choose and brainstorm a caliber. I am going to use this action. It is the first rifle I ever bought for myself, and the first rifle I killed a big game animal with. Criteria are I need to reuse this action with a long action magnum bolt face. I don't need a big boomer .30 Cal+ type caliber. I have a standard velocity 6.5 cal rifle, and have access to some 7mm mags from my dad. So I am thinking I want to keep this rifle in the 257-264 size. Thoughts?

AGFD -- Leftover elk permit-tags remain

If I dont get drawn for deer this year maybe i will buy a kaibab elk tag so i can hunt kaibab for something at least. Find some big bucks and just dream of the day I may get to pull the trigger on one.

    Effects of the virus scare?

I didn't take pictures, but it was pretty packed out north of pleasant. At 130pm today there was a line 25 deep in both lanes to get into the lake at the main entrance. There were trucks and trailers lined up for a half mile on either side of the road where the blacktop end by the north gate. The desert was full of trailers, razors, jeeps, etc.

    SOLD Rem 700 7mm Mag $350 - back up

That is a good deal. A bare 700 action would cost about $300

    Effects of the virus scare?

We just got back from a quick day run up to Old China Dam. You are correct, it was trailers and razors as far as the eye can see. We still have fun and kept away from people, but it was busy on the roadways.

    Need New Fridge

They have tons in stock. All are like 50-60% off MSRP. some are hammered dog crap. And many have very small dings or dents.

    Need New Fridge

The best deals around are Sears Outlet. There is one at 59th and Peoria, and one at like 7th street and bell. We bought the same fridge with a couple very small blemishes for $700 less then if we would have bought it at Home Depot "on sale".

    Effects of the virus scare?

My wife had a nagging sickness through most of December. All the signs line up with corona. It took her about 3-4 weeks to get past it completely. I read yesterday they may have a test to be able to see if people have already been infected and have gotten past it.

    A cure for the virus.....

    I guess I didn't win?
  11. It looks like the answer is $125.

    No ammo.

It is crazy in the gun shops. I went to Randall's today because I was in the area. They had very little of anything "tactical" left. Ammo is very spotty. UPS dropped off some stuff while I was there, and they were literally taking it of the boxes and selling it to people standing there. It we from the box to the customer, not even to the shelf.

    Leupold VX6 2-12x42

This is one of my favorite scopes, but I love the boone & crockett reticle. I want this, but this isn't the best time for me to be spending money on things I don't "need". Someone needs to buy this though. It is a great scope. I have the same scope with B&C reticle on my all purpose meat pole rifle and it delivers every time I use it.

    What reticle?
  15. I have access to a 300 already so I opted to go back to 257 weatherby. Some day a nice 300 something might have to get built though for 600+ shooting.

    Smith and Wesson Model 686

The 7 shot is the 686+. One of my favorite wheel guns of all time.

    Leupold VX6 3-18x44

So much want, but with everything going on I can't...good deal. Someone will snap this up.

    Groupings are off. Need help.

Do what is mentioned above. 1. Check all action, rail, and scope screws and test it. 2. Send the scope back and check it once you get the new one. 3. Have a Smith check the muzzle crown and test it. 4. Sell it. If you get all the way to step 4 you are probably going to be so frustrated and tired of this rifle you wont want to figure out what is wrong with it.

    Effects of the virus scare?

Frys is limiting certain items like milk, eggs, water products, etc. Ammo and guns seems to be the run of today though from what I hear. I almost went to the gun store, but decided not to partake in the stupidity.

    WTB Left Hand 22LR

I am looking to buy a left hand 22lr for my son. Savage has some stuff on the new market, but I figured I would check to see if anyone here had anything available first. It doesn't have to be savage. I am interested in anything lefthand 22lr. What do you have?

    WTB Left Hand 22LR

He is going to be 8, but he is larger then the average 8 year old. He shoots my dads 10-22 well, but doesn't like getting hit by the brass as he shoots it lefty.

    7W Late Bull hunts

Be prepared for 60 degree days and 0 degrees with snow. It can be anything in between. Be ready for the wind too. The cold sucks, but the wind multiplies the suck. I have hunted across the road in 7E several times with mixed results and mixed weather. Get familiar with the area and find the areas of refuge. On that hunt the elk are just trying to stay alive and will hide in the nastiest spots to get away from people.
