If the sole plan is elk, make sure you are getting a good bullet that shoots well in your rifle. If the ranges are under 500 yards a nosler Partition is hard to beat for toughness on a big animal. Power shok may be a decent bullets, but for a dedicated elk round find something tough that shoots well.

If you are thinking about this for this year good luck finding much. I was at sportsman's today and they are gutted of ammo. They didnt have a single box of 3006 on the shelf. As for your question, try both and shoot what your rifle groups better. Then put the bullet in the boiler room. My buddy and I's cow elk last season went down to a 135gr bullet from a 6.5x55 with alot less energy than a 7mm is capable of. Don't over think it. Place your shot you will be good.

My buddy and I spent 2 nights in 7E in December a few years ago with the same setup except we had 2 buddy heaters. It was probably 10-15*f plus wind. We ran 1 heater on high off a BBQ tank, and the other on low off green cylinders. It kept it probably 30-40*f in the tent. It wasn't too cold, but when the heater on green cylinders ran out you felt the temps drop. In the morning we ran both heaters on high and it helped make getting out of your bag much more pleasant. We run CO sensors as well to be safe. After that season though we bought a toyhauler... If I had to do it over I would have covered the top and sides of the tent with packing blankets or something to help insulate it.

In an al or asks sure. Steel case all day. Anything else, no thanks. My dad used to have an AR that wouldn't even chamber steel case ammo because the chamber was to tight. Brass was fine, steel was a no go.

This is a big deal. Get the one with side windows if you summer camp and it is warm. The only thing I would change is getting the model with the side windows.

If you need a little more I picked some Spanish brand at sportsman's awhile back. I can spare a box or 2 if needed. They are 5rd boxes. -
Norma is top notch. Is your barrel twist fast enough for 156gr though?

Let's be real, your house might also be described as near SE Wickenburg... Edge is a good guy. He did a bunch of work on my toy hauler earlier this year.

Buy a patch kit. I bought 1 frim kodiak and have used it on several pinholes. Also try and always use a tarp or something under it to protect the bottom. A cordless vacuum makes cleaning the inside a breeze too. When covid happened we set up my Kodiak in the back yard for probably a month. We went on backyard camping trips, and the kids used it as a fort. They are awesome tents.

That is an awesom idea. I am stealing that for mine.

Get them on board early, but if they won't get on board, show them the door. Bad attitudes breed and that doesn't help success.

A big key to your success as a leader is training your people, and if you are in some form of production environment it will be key for you to make sure your guys have the tools, training, directions and material to do the job and to keep working. Your job is to make sure you are out ahead of them with getting things ordered and onsite and in front of them to keep going. Sometimes you will be the guy doing the menial tasks behind them or ahead of them to keep them rolling.

Delw, what is long range to you? I have not shot a 338 win mag at long ranges, but at normal 500 and under my dads old one shot pretty well. I have thought about stealing it from him and trying it out with some of the new cool guy bullets they have available now.

What happens when the bullet pulls out, spills powder all inside your action. Then later that day you go to take a shot at a cow elk, and your rifle doesn't work because your trigger is jammed up with powder. It happened to a buddy of mine about 5 years ago. He was shooting HSM ammo and it was seated long enough to jamb in his rifling. It pulled the bullet out as he would try and extract a live round.

Is anyone familiar with these? Where can I get one locally that isn't super expensive?

I want one to use as a heater in the back yard for sitting around and enjoying the cool air and drinking a beer, and for camping if we are ever allowed to have open fires again. I always have plenty of old cooking oil and other oils that are free fuel to that I want to utilize to get it out of my way.

Train your team members but if they are not up to the task, be ready to let them go if they can't cut it. If you are going to have 10-12 guys you probably can't manage them all directly at all times. You must find leaders underneath you to lead crews or work groups. You can't micro manage, and you must deligate tasks to those leaders. You must hold them accountable to get the tasks done to your standard and in the timeframe you give them. If your people don't get it done on time and to the standard it is on you. You can't blame them up the chain of command. Own it and figure out how to fix it. Ownership is key. Want some more reading or listening. Extreme Ownership by Jockl Willink.

I drew early rifle with 5 or 6 points a few years ago, but it wasn't bonus pass. Some year I will get drawn again...

So it appears I drew my first ever Turkey tag this year I believe in unit 7. Beside scouting, camo, and a shotgun what do I need? I have availability of shotguns that shoot 12ga 3" or 3.5" shells. Do I really need to shoot the 3.5's? They hurt...

I will have to double check choke tubes. I think I bought a turkey tube for my mossberg years ago because it was on clearance at cabelas. Is anyone using decoys or is that not really necessary?

We had the same experience in 2018 in 12ae early. I shot my buck opening morning and he was a decent buck. We didn't see anything larger than a fork for 5 more days. My buddy settled for a small fork on the 2nd to last day of the hunt.

The meopte optika 6 scopes are supposed to be a great bang for the buck. I personally have a couple burris veracity 3x15x50 scopes that I really like and are worth a look.

I think I drew my first Turkey tag this year. I think it is in U7. I am surprised I didn't draw javelina though it appears.

Not moose, but my dad and i were almost run down by a group of cow elk in unit 27 one year. We were deer hunting and up on a finger. Another hunter must have spooked a group of about 12 cow elk. They came barreling up the side of the finger and were coming right for us. We started waving our arms and yelling to try and get there attention to not kill us. They slammed on the brakes and stopped about 10 feet from us, we were about 20 feet apart from each other. They freaked out being face to face with humans and half the group split and ran right between my dad and I, and the other half went to my right. I seriously thought I was going to have to shoot and elk to save myself. I had just clicked off the safety on my rifle when they jammed the brakes. It was wild.
