    Kids First Knife

I am going to look around to see one of those. I saw them on the website, but have not seen one in person. They look smaller and more modern.

    Kids First Knife

His grandpa bought him a small fixed blade fake stag handle knife from Turkey, but it isn't good. So I want to get him something he can keep and use for many years that will actually be useful.

    Kids First Knife

I was looking at buck custom the other day and thought it was pretty cool. I might have them do a pair down the road, one for each of my boys. I do like benchmade too, I own a couple personally and they have been very good.

    Hunters Ed field day

I am glad that Ram split off from Dodge and isn't Dodge Ram anymore. Now I don't have to be the guy haunting your dreams...😂
  6. It appears that since AZGFD can't provide enough field days for children in Phoenix I get to take a trip with my 10yr old down to Tucson to take the class. We are probably going to come down a day early and do a quick guys day in Tucson on Friday, and take class Saturday. What would be something fun/cool to do with a 10yr old on an afternoon? Pima Air Museum? Any really good places to eat? Thanks!

Things to do in Tucson w/10yr old?

Not to late yet, but the kid came home from school today sick so the trip is now in jeopardy of not happening if he can't get well in the next day or so.

    Hunters Ed field day

That's the other problem. They have not restarted the class to train the instructors after covid. Alot of the old ones are leaving and nobody new is being trained.

    Hunters Ed field day

They won't get the bonus point for the class until field day is finished.
  10. I have a Savage 110FP in 300 win mag. It is a 24" long heavy barrel and the rifle is freaking heavy. It shoots well, but is a PITA to carry hunting. It is top heavy and doesn't sling well. I basically wouldn't carry it hunting as is, so what do I do with it? It has a factory Tupperware stock, Timney trigger, and giant muzzle brake to reduce the recoil. Selling it isn't an option. I already have a big 30 cal in a 300 weatherby mag also, so it doesn't have to stay 30 cal. I have thought about having the barrel shortened and fluted to save weight, but it would probably be the same price to get a new barrel. What would you do?

What to do with Savage 110FP?

Alot of the problem is the balance. It is so top heavy all it does is try and invert on the sling. It also has a short box mag, so without single feed I am limited to standard OAL which makes loading big bullets difficult.

My son's tags and my tags showed up today.

    Arken Scopes?

I will do a review. I am planning to put it on a 338 win mag most likely.

  15. Brunos had Varget in stock on Friday. That would be a good choice too. I chose 6.5 staball to start since I find it more often though.

What to do with Savage 110FP?

I am not opposed to rechambering to something funky to for fun like 325WSM or ? I like funky calibers.
  17. I have just started playing with 6.5 staball and 7mm-08 recently. It shot some 139gr SP well in my kids rifle, but I have not really started grouping or final load development.
  18. Hodgoden powder website shows a load for 150gr TTSX starting around 44gr working to 49gr. It shows a 140gr SP starting at about 46gr working to 51gr compressed. I would start around that 44gr area and work up. https://www.hodgdonreloading.com/reloading-data-center?rdc=true&type=54

    Hunters Ed field day

Yep, the child won't get the lifetime bonus point though until the field day is completed. That is why I am driving to Tucson this week, so in February my son will have his hunters ED bonus point for the elk draw coming up.

    Hunters Ed field day

I am headed to Tucson next week to get my kid thru his field day. It was the closest one at 2hr20min drive time. Next closest was Safford or Kingman... It would be much nicer to get a day in Phoenix, but they don't have any openings soon, and when I signed up for the backlog list for the Phoenix Date we were 37th on the alternate list... I emailed G&F and they said they are doing what they can. I asked if they could start a class that would charge a fee so they could maybe hire a company or instructor and they said it was against the rules if the federal money Grant's for the program. They said they don't enough trained volunteers, but they also said they don't have any classes to train more volunteers...

    .243 Ammo

I saw a box 2 days ago at Sportsman's north phoenix. I probably have some bullets too if you need them. Bruno's has had 115gr Berger pretty regularly and some Hornady too.

Elk Processing from MIllers 6-8 Weeks

They don't usually freeze it if they are going to cut it within a week or so I don't think. They hung mine in a cooler for about 7-10 days I believe and then cut it after it had aged. They did a good job on mine and I would totally use them again, but the last couple hunts I drew were not near Flagstaff.
