Question for gun safe owners in the lower desert areas
Hoss50 replied to CJNAZ's topic in The Campfire
I had mine in the garage for a few years with no issues. The only gun I had that any issues was an old .22 that has basically no blueing left. It surface rusted a little. If I had oiled it more often it would have been fine. It was only in the garage because I had no choice. My new house my safe has moved into the laundry room. It is not climate controlled, but it is between the garage and house so it sits in the middle as far as temps compared to house vs. ambient. I keep the vent fan on when the laundry is in to keep the humidity down. I also have silica packs in the safe that I rotate and a bottle that has water absorbent material in and has a 1 way film so water can enter but not leave. Ammo and powder are stored in the garage in the heat with no adverse effects. I have always had it that way and my dad did too. All the powder still performs well and even 100 year old military surplus ammo that has been in the garage for 20 years goes bang. -
My most consistent load right now is 61.0gr of IMR4831 with the bullet seated as far out as I can. I am using fire formed .264 Win Mag & 7MM Mag brass so my case capacity is a little lower then a real 257 case though. I am shooting a 24" Vanguard. My rifles favorite bullet sofar is Hornady 117gr BTSP. It shoots ballistic tips well too but the Hornady is the best so far.

I have been using IMR4831 with pretty good success with my 115 gr. loads. I know H1000, RL25, and RL22 are popular too.

I have seen marginal success out near Wickenburg myself the last few years. The only thing that was guaranteed last year was mosquito bites. Opening weekend we were driven away by the mosquito's and mud. We went back the next weekend with tons of bug repellent and mosquito head nets and had to do some mud bogging to get to a decent spot and still didn't limit out.

My wife's appendix surgery 5 years ago cost more then that I believe. I want to say hers was $42,000 or something stupid. We didn't even stay in the hospital overnight. She went in at 5am and was released at about 7pm.

This. My dad got his there about 15 years ago and it is still awesome. The only thing that sucks is moving that 1000 lb. monster. I think I have moved it 3 times now.

A friend of mine almost lost his leg from a spider bite that got staph a few years ago. He spent the better part of a week in the hospital and was literally about 30 minutes from losing his leg from above the knee down. Scary stuff. Glad you are ok.

My group drew late October in 29. It was 3rd choice. This will be 2 years in a row in 29. Hopefully this year will be better then last year. We saw almost everything except a buck deer.

I got to see a pink and black one about 10 years ago off table Mesa road when I was out four wheeling. It was pretty cool to see one in the wild.

I have a Smarty programmer for the 98.5-02 Dodge Cummins trucks. It is a great lowend and midrange programmer for towing and lowend torque. If you have one of these trucks and are thinking about a programmer you should highly consider this one. I loved this chip for my truck. It really helped motivate these big trucks off the line and provides a great boost for towing. madselectronics.com I just bought a 2005 Cummins and my old 98.5 with this chip had better lowend torque and throttle response. Price is $525 OBO. Thanks Harley

If you change your mind or want to meet somewhere in the middle to make deal let me know. Thanks

I live in Peoria and work in Tolleson.

This was the only chip I ran. I did not have the need or supporting mods to run a stacked chip.

Like mentioned Andrew at Letzroll is a good source for parts and install as well.

He caught this one when it was colder out so he said it didn't fight a lot but it was like dragging a 73lb rock to shore with your fishing pole. The dude who caught the 75lb last week said his took 30 minutes to land because it fought pretty hard.
-
This is now only the third largest caught. Another guy landed a 75 pounder that was 3 pounds smaller then the record and 2 lbs bigger then this one. The guy in the picture is my buddy that I posted about awhile back.

If you head in through springerville you should stop at Avery's and get some BBQ. They have hookup RV spots so they might have a dump station as well. A buddy of mine owns the place and makes some kicka$$ BBQ. Just outside town on the back to Showlow.

Reload virgin. Question on 270 load
Hoss50 replied to apache12's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
It takes some initial investment and time to reload. If you are ok with those investments then reload. Most rifle calibers these days are worth reloading to save money at the least but it will also give you the opportunity to dial in a load for your rifle if your are willing to invest them time and money to work them up. I reload a lot because the rifle I shoot is ultra expensive to shoot factory rounds through (257 weatherby). I also reload a lot of heavy pistol rounds that are expensive like 44 mag and 45 colt. Nothing is cheap to shoot anymore so reloading can at least make it a little more bearable to spend time at the range. -
Please don't get taken advantage of this summer by A/C contractors. If you need a recommendation of fair and honest contractors please let me know. Residential or commercial I can get you leads of people who won't take you for a ride like the majority of the people out there. I am a wholesaler so I deal with many of the guys who you may think to call. If you have questions please feel free to contact me and I will be more then happy to point you in the right direction.
