Finally! My youth son and his friend either drew deer tags or my buddy and I did. My son and I drew Turkey tags too. My son drew a youth javelina tag also.

You should be fine. That twist is pl plenty fast for that bullet.

We have like 6 apps out and none hit so far. A couple are long shot, but geez I hope I can at least hit a Turkey tag or junior javelina or deer tag for my kid. Wife Deer - Long shot My Deer - long shot Junior javelina Junior Deer Turkey Sandhill Crane Nothing yet...come on...its for the kids...🤣

I have been using alot of Burris lately. Veracity mostly, but I just got an XTR II. All are FFP and I really like them for the money. I have been finding them on sale mostly, and one was "used" on Amazon. It was basically a return that they couldn't sell as new, but saved me $200. I have a Vortex 6x24x50 HSLR, and it is OK, but I don't love it. I would take any of my Burris Veracity or XTRII over it any day, and they were all cheaper. I have Vortex binos and they are good for the price (Diamondbacks and Vipers) but even the 15x50 Viper HDs don't hold a candle to my buddies Zeiss Conquest 15s. I love my 8x42 Diamondbacks for quick chest carry in the field, but am going to have to upgrade my 15s since the Vipers are just OK. I have 5 Vortex products (1 scope, 4 bino) none have had to be warranties to be fair, but out of all of them the cheap Diamondbacks are my favorite. The times I spent more money on Viper 15x50s and Viper HSLR I haven't been impressed. I also bought an Arken 4x16x44 EPL4. I like it, but my Veracity 3x15x50 is more clear and the Arken got a blob in the scope after 40rds and had to go back for warranty. Was hoping for more, but we will see if the replacement holds up...can't put it on an important rifle though...can't trust it. I like leupold too. I have a 2x12x42 VX6 and really like it. They just don't do enough scopes in FFP so for me I have moved to other options. Super bummed they sold Redfield though. The Redfield Revolution was a great bargain scope. Basically a VX2 or VX3 for less money and had a better reticle.

High end bushnell is good stuff. The cheap stuff is crap, but the higher end stuff is supposedly very good.

I wish you were in Phoenix. This is a great deal. If the guy above doesn't take it let me know. Maybe I can meet you.

We used to beat the heck out of 1 of those on the jobsite. Worked great, just loud as sin.

I have just moved into the 21st century with electronic muffs from Walker, but still use plugs too. They are nice. It allows muffs and plugs and allows you to still have some hearing which I like. Rifles with brakes I like to double earpro on.

I am going to try BLC2 and maybe some staball 6.5 in my buddies 308 with 150gr Barnes TTSX. His rifle is an 18" barrel and with the 165gr TTSX was kinda slow. Gonna drop to 150gr to pick up some speed. Varget is showing up sometimes if you can wait.

If anyone has any Norma or Weatherby brass for the 257 weatherby they want to part with please let me know. Once fired is preferred.

Quick question. What is the best value or option for an In Reach satelite type device? I probably should invest in 1, and since I am doing my first solo type hunt with my youngish type kids this weekend I probably should do it now. Garmin InReach Mini 2?
-
Anyone with your mapshare I believe can also ping your location as long as the garmin is on.

That is the other thing, nobody is hauling me out unassisted. I am 6'4" 305lbs. I have to haul myself out, but right now neither of my boys is old enough to drive me out even if I can drag my big arse to the truck. That is where the inreach comes in.

I am just hunting normal units, but alot of places have no cell signal. And this year is the first time I have been taking my kids (8 &11) out without another adult around, so incase of emergency I wanted something to have with me.

If you are going to hunt with that round, I would be afraid of the Hornady bullets grenading on short range shots because of the extreme velocity. I would want a heavier construction for a hunting bullet in a round that fast. -
What is th max draw 31"?

I ended up with a Garmin Mini 2. Seems good so far. I used it several times this weekend to check in with my wife when I was out of cell range.

I have 2 Howa 1500/Weatherby Vanguard type rifles that need new scope rail/ring setups. I want something that is stout and dependable, these will be go to hunting rifles. Both rifles currently have Leupold standard dovetail front, screw rear setups. 1 is on a 300 weatherby mag, and the rear screw mount is failing. The 2nd rifle is a lighter 6.5x55. Both rifles will have 30mm tube 50mm objective scopes. Burris Veracity 3x15x50 if it matters. Neither rifle needs to be 1200 yard type rifles so I don't need 20moa type cant. Thoughts? I am thinking DNZ Game Reaper? I like rails and nice rings, but that is $$$. What would you do?
-
If you are looking for a rail the EGW rail is cut for the howa ejection port. Remington rails will fit, but they are cut a little different at the ejection port. I have an EGW rail on 1 rifle. I have leupold on a couple too, but I am.bought to ditch those. 1 isn't handling 300 weatherby mag recoil well. The other is on a 6.5x55 and is fine, but I am putting a new scope on it so I need a new setup.
-
I have a similar setup on 1 rifle and it has been good. It is just more $$$ and honestly it is more screws to come loose than something like a DNZ which is why I was looking at those maybe. I use loctite on all the screws for rings and bases for sure.

I wish I didn't have a bunch of $35 boxes in my cabinet...😢🤣

29 is the unit I would want that tag in. I haven't hunt 29 in years, and only for deer, but I have seen Turkey there almost every time. I saw more turkey than deer.

I believe Bruno's has Lapua brass in stock.
