If I had hip waders and a winch I would have done it myself, but I wasn't going waist deep in 33* water since I don't have any waders.

115gr Berger hunting VLDs over 67.0gr h1000. For me it is a proven sub MOA load in my vanguard. I use fire formed 7mm Rem mag brass in my rifle so my case capacity is slightly less then factory 257 brass. The next best load is 117gr hornady btsp bullets over imr 4831. I would have to go look at the powder gr on that one though. It is probably about an MOA or slightly less than MOA load in my rifle. I have a series 1 vanguard and I didn't like the trigger creep even after adjustment so I out in a timney and it is alot nicer.

Nice package. heck of a deal for a rifle that will shoot like that.great caliber too.

I have both 300's in Peoria if you need a caseing for each. Slug the chamber would be the best bet.

Hodgdon and IMR Smokeless Powder

Let us know what the 1 pounders are. I doubt you will have much trouble selling those items on here. Compare pricing to get a fair market price with powdervalley and other internet sites. -
Sportsman's Warehouse over both of them. Sucks though because Bass Pro is worse then cabelas. Worse pricing worse products. Scheils or whatever up north is better then both of them for sure. The had 1 in ND when I spent some time up there.

When I was a younger, probably about 8, my dad's group bagged a mule deer in 20a. When they spotted him he was at the top of a big hill and when they shot he ran off, then came back around, and around, and around until someone finally put him down. He had a very large wart over 1 eye that basically blinded him in that direction and when he ran while spooked he kept running in circles. Probably not the case here but still something that I found interesting and have seen with my own eyes.

Get away from the main areas and get away from roads. 15 years ago was the last time I hunted that area before side x sides became popular and the roads were still covered with road hunters. I can only imagine how bad it is now. Hike, hike, hike.

I could be as simple as a loose nut at an outlet that shorted. If that is the case you might only need to trim the wires up and reinstall a new wire nut. A bad outlet or bad gfi could be the problem too. A multimeter should help you narrow it down pretty easy. Find the last outlet with power and Check the wire nuts. Then check for power leaving g that box. If you have power leaving check the next outlet and check the wire nuts there and try and figure out which wire is not carrying power to that box.
-
They are daisy chained together most likely. The bad connection is likely in the last box with power or the first 1 without power. Try and locate the direction the power is running through the room and start taking the outlets apart. Likely a wire connection in the daisy chain fried.

Randalls had retumbo and hybrid 100v in stock today among others. They actually had quite a bit of powder selection in stock today.

I have been looking at RL25 for the 257 too, but the H1000 has been pretty amazing so far and I haven't even really done a good load workup yet.

I have some free brass I don't shoot. Some of it I picked up at the range, some of it I was given. I want to say there is +/- 60 pcs each. I can count for sure if anyone is interested. 7-30waters 6.5 Grendel - spoken for 7mm-08 - spoken for. I am in Peoria and work in Tolleson.

A couple of my buddies and myself spent a couple hours at Phoenix Rod and Gun getting ready for our cow elk hunt next month. We got all the rifles dialed in at 100 & 200 so we decided to move back to the 500 yard line to take a poke. We all actually did pretty well for shooting mostly stock rifles. One of my buddies smacked a bullseye on his 3rd shot after putting 2 rds low and right. I missed my first shot because I have never shot this load at 500 yards. I used the 500 yard holdover pin in my scope and was WAY high. I moved down to the 400yrd pin and smacked steel. I then put down this 3rd group that I was VERY happy with. I am very impressed with how well this rifle shoots. I know it is probably luck, but this rifle and some of my nothing special handloads and this rifle flat performs. These are 115gr Berger VLD's over 67.0grs of H1000 shooting prone off my bipod. I am now really interested in getting this thing on a chrono. I think my rounds are hotter than I thought they were since I only had to use my 400yrd pin to be smacking steel like this at 500yrds. I am sighted slightly high at 200yrds though which I know is part of the reason. This long range thing is addictive. I want to get more rounds loaded and go back for more. I need more glass though. 9x isn't all that great at 500yards.

Right now I have an 8lb of IMR 4831 I am working through, and I am getting an 8lb of H1000 to start working through soon from another member here. I will probably invest in a larger container of RL22 soon too.

It is my Weatherby Vanguard in .257 Weatherby Mag. Redfield Revolution 3-9x40, Timney trigger @ 3lbs. The rifle is all stock except the trigger. This rifle always amazes me how accurate it is. I really want to put a higher power/nicer scope on it but I am afraid to mess with success. It's one of those "don't fix it if is isn't broken" kind of things.

For what I have been doing lately these are my favorite. H1000 - 257 Weatherby IMR4831 - 257 Weatherby & 3006 RL22 - 3006 H4831 - 6.5x55 swedish I am hoping to get more work in with H1000 as soon as I get more in. My 257 Weatherby is shooting pretty lights out with it and 115gr Berger VLD's.

Proven SA caliber for coues
Hoss50 replied to Stickflinger76's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
6.5x55 6.5x55 AI 7x57 257 Roberts AI All proven rounds. Nothing super cool, new school, or barn burners but they have been getting the job done for 100+ years. I just started working on revamping a sporterized mauser in 6.5x55 for my son to shoot some day, and for me to shoot in the mean time. -
No Sir. It isn't on a river. It is in the hills south-southwest of town. It isn't anything super cool like the buildings some have posted, just some stacked stone walls. If you are really interested in checking it out I can PM you directions or a GPS coordinate or something.
-
I know of 1 up in the Bradshaws southwest of Mayer that I ran across hunting a few years ago. It looks like a rock outcropping from far, but when you get up there the rock outcropping has been built up and fortified with stacked stone walls and such. I didn't get pictures which I regret.

I shoot a Weatherby Vanguard series 1 in 257 weatherby. It is made by Howa and let me tell you I have been very happy with it. It doesn't even have the nicer stock an such of the newer series 2, but it is a shooter. I recently put a Timney trigger in it and it is even better. Other than the trigger it is completely stock. I have shot multiple groups that are sub-MOA @ 100yards with the rifle before and after the trigger. 1 of my groups right after the trigger was sub-1/2" MOA. I really like the howa/weatherby vanguard. I have stretched it out to 500 yards a couple times, and even before I dialed the rifle in with good loads and the trigger work I was hitting 8" steel at 500yds pretty regularly. It sounds like it would be a great platform to start with for what you are after.

Pics please.

I just put a new scope on my 6.5x55 today. Blue lock tight all the way around. Always use blue for scopes and alot on trucks too. Harley

Bruno's has 8lb'ers in stock according to the website. $220/ea. Not the best price but they are local and it is in stock.

Each rifle is different. You will have to shoot them both in your rifle to answer that question. My 257 weatherby likes sst better than nosler bt, but it likes berger VLDs the best followed by hornady btsp. Harley.
