That is a sexy knife. I am tempted but I am going to hold out, do some more research and pick out exactly what I think I want. I like that akouna though. That is a sweet profile.

Good info guys. Keep it coming. Thank you.

I am probably going to get a seperate pack frame, and just increase the size of my day pack for now. What I was kind of looking at that would be a bid upgrade over what I have is something like this. https://www.rei.com/product/867296/camelbak-fourteener-24-hydration-pack-100-fl-oz

Probably about $200 on the top end.

I sell air conditioning units. It has been a busy last couple weeks and I don't think this week will be any different.

Good S&W gunsmith in the valley?
Hoss50 replied to Curtis Reed's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Nelson ford. End of story for s&w. -
My buddy caught a 72lb flathead from shore. I know they often use a kayak to put bait out from shore but I don't think he was then. He uses mostly carp or blue gill as bait.

The website says he is backlogged about 3 years to get a knife. I have about 5 months til I leave for my elk hunt. With a backlog like that I am sure they are pretty sweet though.

I'm 6'4" and 300lbs. I don't have monster hands but I have hands of someone my size. Xl-XXL gloves normally. I think I am going to get a havalon also, but want something more jack of all trades to put in my pack. I had a couple decent ones awhile back but some a-hole broke into my truck and took a bunch of stuff including my nicer medium knife. It was a buck zipper with gut hook that I saved money for for a long time when I was about 15 and getting ready for my first elk hunt. I have never owned anything better than Buck brand knives, and I want to change that.I am trying to obtain better gear all around and now it is time for a knife.

Grandpa's Springfield 1917 rifle rebuild, maybe 6.5-06?

Unless the barrel is shot out don't mess with it IMO. -
SOLD: Remington 700 .257 Weatherby with reloading supplies
Hoss50 replied to AxisWorks LLC's topic in Classified Ads
I am glad I already own a 257 that will shoot really nice, because this is a good deal on a nice rifle. -
I am working with H1000 in my 7mm Rem Mag sofar, but I know RL22 and Retumbo work well too in a lot of cases. I just have an 8lb keg of H1000 on only 1lb of the other 2 so I am using what I have the most of. Get a load dialed in some more and practice, practice, practice.
-
Those are very nice results for a factory rifle and a first load workup. Play with powder quantity and seating depth and see if you can dial it in.
-
When people put the toilet paper on with it feeding out the bottom. OVER THE TOP!!!
-
Glass or pillar bedded? What is the upgraded trigger? Do you have a load worked for this? Tang safety or mark II?
-
I like mine for quick sharpening.

What would you build, as the perfect coues cartridge ?
Hoss50 replied to Splatt's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I do the same with my 257 weatherby. I take new 7mm Rem mag case, lube them and full length size them. I load a light load the first time around to form the case and then it is game on. My 257 weatherby loves h1000 and berger hvld's. If I do my part it will shoot sub-moa at 500 yards in an almost stock weatherby vanguard. Harley -

.257 weatherby or .264 win mag. -
Nice work on the scouting. I have the 7e cow hunt. Snow is a good thing if it isn't tons during the hunt. We went 2/4 last year and it really should have been 3/4. We had no snow last year but we had luck on our side. There are elk all over the unit. The weather will help dictate where the most elk will be.

Either a stock crate motor or mild crate motor would be the best IMO from what is sounds like happened to the motor. I imagine you will need a decent amount of machine work and full rebuild so the bill for that would probably be very close to the same price to get rebuilt with less warranty most likely.
-
Stockish motor rebuild would be best probably. If you get to crazy especially with the cam specs your going to have problems. If you get to big on cubic inches you may have injector and fuel supply issues too. Last time I had a motor built was by h&h machine in glendale. He did good work. You have to bring him the motor out of the vehicle though. Gm crate motors are a good choice too.
