DIY is great. Now do you have a place to keep 4 quarters of an elk or a completely boned out elk cold? For the price of a few elk processings you build a nice walk-in to hang your meat in. Then all you have to worry about is cooling off your meat from up north to home. Those fancy pre built sheds you see all over would be a great start. No permit required because its moveable. Use one corner for the walk in and the rest for processing and storage. Anyway forschner makes great boning, skinning and steak cutting knives. I use them for my field knives also. A good steel is a plus also. Once you learn to break down an animal properly they are the same from a javelina to a buffalo. As for processors I am partial to Thrushs. They are a little west of wickenburg. Let me tell you one thing about processors...I cut game for 8 years as a second job and trust me...nobody steals game meat for their own freezer. Are there crappy processors that give you someone elses meat or leave more on the bone than you would you betcha. Now on the other side if you bring half the forest still stuck to your animal after you shot it in the butt twice and then both shoulders and one round in the guts to make sure you have ruined it completely and wonder why you don't have as much meat as you think...don't blame the guy cutting it. Good field prep and cool meat will produce good results even if you cut it wrong it will be taken care of properly. All hunters should have to take a field prep course after a hunter safety course so they don't waste what they are shooting. Let me add one more thing.....bacon. My grind for hamburgers only I grind up some good bacon with it. All my other grind I use beef fat. One more random thing..if you are gong to do your own game invest in a chain glove for processing so you don't have to worry about cutting yourself.

+1 on spin testing. If you get any wobble keep rotating heads til you dont. A lot of times your insert may need set again. A little wobble magnifies a lot at 300 fps.

Thanks for the replies and for keeping it mature.Slicks Tricks are awesome. I have killed deer and pigs both and have not had a failure as well as my wifes pig kills with them. After the the pig kill this year with a swhacker.. Wow. I will still do some beef hide and rib testing with them and a scapula test also. Thx again.

it killed elk deer and pigs and was a great bow but I jumped ship back to hoyt last year and have a new elite hunter coming this week. Awesome let off with lots of creep which I need. You can hold full draw forever. No regrets because technology just keeps getting better. Its too bad resale on bows isnt like guns where you can get most of your money back. -

2200 expandable to 3850 Bought for my wife and she will never wear it(long story). Want to trade for a good used rangefinder. Not an antique or $99 pos. Maybe a bushnell scout or truth arc or something. It has to read in black because I can't see red. Live in far west valley but will be at Ben avery area Sat am. Prefer not to ship. Pm with what you have. Also have a horn hunter pack in predator deception. Couple years old. never been bloodied and in great condition(wife never used this one either). Not sure of the model maybe you can tell from the pic. Would like to get $100 for this one.

certain bows have max turns you can take out safely and still shoot. Most bows perform the best at their max poundage...so they used to say. They now have them that have 40 plus pounds of draw weight adjustment so it all depends on the bow

Good call...and you got to keep your hunting privileges by doing so. Congrats on the kills btw.

Well after a long month of chasing pigs and deer with my wife and friends I was ready for yesterday. We had some pigs that were spookier than all get out that we wanted a little redemption on,,,so what better way than to have your daughter blast one with a .270 right? Having too many tests at school we had to wait 'til afternoon to head out. At our first glassing point we had cows everywhwere= no pigs. So we travel higher up this mountain of rock. I no sooner get "the boys" on the tripod and I spot a lone pig way out there. So eventually the rest show up eat a little and move onto a thicket that the wife can cover all angles from. My daughter and I load up what we need and off we drop off this mountain. \ that is about the angle of this rock pile. We get to the bottom and the wind is perfect, ground is quiet from rain the day before and we keep closing the distance. Wife lets me know they are feeding to the right of us so I get her set up on the tripod with a shooting v and they start to funnel thru. She doesn't shoot? Dads always look from your kids or wifes point of view. That extra foot is the difference of seeing and not. I pick out the next opening that she can shoot from( I think)...nope just tops of backs.Ok I got this figured out now..next clearing will be perfect...if they stop. Nope they all trotted right thru. Plan D... stay above with the wind in our favor and find a bigger clearing. Look look look..nothing. Woof! Gun up on tripod and Im looking. I can't see it! Next thing I know Cristal swings to the right and as soon as I barely see it...BOOM! That bore did a backflip and rolled 5 feet and took a dirt nap. After numerous blown stalks and string jumping in the archery hunt it felt good watching my girl roll that pig. Now did I mention my wife can"t drive my jeep. Yup back up / that steep @$$ rockpile to the jeep. After some pics we dragged it a couple hundred yards and loaded it up and here came the rain.Being the well prepared father i am my knives were at home. Don't make that oops very often. It did let me weigh the pig on the hoof. 61 pounds! She has beat me by 2 pounds after 3 pigs to my countless. Don't know if we can beat my wifes 69 pounds from last year but maybe one day. This rain is gonna suck today for all the juniors out hunting. easy to track if it quits. Good luck kids and parents....Toby Yeah she is planking with a javelina I love a kid with a sense of humor

OMG! He killed it with an assault rifle....kidding. Awesome! My daughter shot her 1st with an AR for recoil purposes. Nice pig.

I had one chowing down on a cactus pad at 4o yards last week. No clue I was there...let it fly and that pig pulled a move right out of the Matrix. What a spooky herd of pigs this was. They didn't jump the string of my kids 270 yesterday.
