Early youth hunt is tough. I can't bash game and fish enuf for putting 1200 tags a year in 20c. There is so much posted area there that keeps you from accessing half the unit. Being a native of 20c its disgusting to have watched the heard size dwindle down over the decades. The december youth hunt removed tons of mature bucks in its first comeback in 20 years. Great oppurtunity hunt for the kids ,but it should be rotated unit to unit each year because posse hunting hunting in the rut eliminates way too many deer if its the same unit every year. Plus bringing it back the same year my youngest turns 18 is just wrong!

My wife has the vortex 15 vipers. I have some 10x vortex. They work good. I have my 15 swaros and they are uncomparable to any vortex product. Do they work sure they do. My wife glasses up deer sometimes faster than me. So buy what you want and enjoy it. Our suggestions are just that.....suggestions.

I have a slik 700 and 340 same head on both and have beat them severely and still have lots of life left in them. The 340 is great medium size but I cant stand and glass with it. With a pistol grip I could. Some dont like the dual handles but I dont mind.

I feel for you guys who have to pay for processing. I knew i was gonna hunt forever and picked up a used walk in. Paid for itself in one season. Bone it out before you take an elk to anyone.A dollar a pound for 50% going in a bone barrel is nuts.Processors love to see 4 quarters of an elk bone in. Bull hangs 400 pounds. Law of average is 50% bone. Dont pay anextra 200 bucks for bone being chucked.

buy a forischner 5' semi stiff boner and same 5 or six inch skinner. i got mine thru Koch. a good 2 sided steel as well. these are the knives of the butchering trade and will serve you well for a long time.

If you are gonna pay a processor....you pay for hanging weight. bone out as much as possible.buck a pound adds up fast.

Get a buddy and do it yourself. 3 wires, 2 water lines and done.Plenty of guys here to walk you thru it. Unless it s gas. Same basic concept.
