I use a 4" memory foam mattress topper for a pad on my cot. Ordered a king size and cut it in half. You get two and they fit perfectly on the slumberjack cots.

If you're on promotive I'd recommend checking out the slumberjack cots. I love mine. On promotive you'll get a pretty good discount on them. I got mine and some sleeping bags on there.

I Hope I Made the Right 10x42 Decision
kazpilot25 replied to kazpilot25's topic in Optics and tripods
Ya it must've been the Zulu 5. The Zulu 7 retails around $699. Now you've got me all excited. They'll be here tomorrow and I'll do a writeup on them when I get them in and test them out. -
So I've been looking to buy a new mid-range pair of 10x42 binoculars for archery deer. I've basically been debating between the following 3 binoculars: Nikon Monarch 7 Sig Sauer Zulu 7 Trijicon HD I had some reward dollars built up from one of my distributors so I would basically be getting the Nikon for free, Sig for $100, or the Trijicon for $200. After much research I decided to go with the Sig Sauer Zulu 7 10x42. I only found one video review and 1 written review on this specific pair of binoculars. With the Sig optics line being rather new it's hard to get any first hand reviews. I got the Kilo 2000 range finder from them and am absolutely shocked by the quality of the product. It is on par with the Leica rangefinders for about half the price. I really was leaning toward the Trijicon because of the FL glass, but in the end the warranty of the Sig optics won me over. It's just like the Vortex warranty (no fault lifetime fully transferable). For a mid range bino I think I'll be happy, but we shall see. I'll update after getting them and testing them out.

Which unit will you be hunting in August?

I didn't even think about that. Oh man 7 will be a mad house this year. -

10??? I'll be in 27 for one weekend. Might see a hiker or two, but I'm pretty certain I won't see another hunter. Rarely do. Must be nice. Hunting unit 7 the past couple years has been getting busier and busier. It's crazy how many hunters you run into in that unit when you think you're way out in the woods. I hiked in about 2 miles to an area with no roads, just to find ATV's making their own roads. -
Vortex coming out with new Razor HD Spotters?
kazpilot25 replied to kazpilot25's topic in Optics and tripods
Interesting. Can't wait to hear more about it. I find it strange they reduced the zoom range. -

Do you remember which model you were looking through? Zulu 3, 5, 7 or 9? -

I'm not too worried about mounting them on a tripod as I mostly got them for archery and tromping around in the woods, and I have my Swaros for the tripod. I noticed the slightly less (10ft) field of view difference and higher weight, but again, the warranty on the Sig and my experience with some of their other products in the new Electro-Optics lineup sold me over the Nikon. I didn't consider the Razor because they are a little over twice as much, and Vortex doesn't work through a distributor network. Trust me, the Razors would have been my number one choice. -

12-13 lbs. with the bipod. -
That's a good hunt, lots of deer, but also a ton of hunters. Most deer will be just north of the peaks, but so will most hunters. I would avoid the places given by game and fish due to the fact that 80% of tag holders will be in those spots. Kendrick mountain area has less hunters than the peaks and white horse hills area, yet still pretty busy. Further North you can glass the hills in and around Grand Canyon Tank and find some big deer. Quality will be higher in the flats and hills north of the tree line, but quantity will be lower. Hunting the transition is a good bet.

Good luck on your endeavors.

So I just logged in to my portal account, clicked to view the draw status of my current applications and get this screen: It says application has 0 points, and says that for all my current applications for the fall draw. The problem is that I have more than 0 points for the application as you can see here: Anybody else see this same issue?

About 16 weeks ago I was skinny fat and lazy. I decided to start training for a triathlon, and man has it been awesome. It's been a ton of work but the whole swim, bike, run thing is pretty cool. I like the fact that I am getting in pretty good shape, and am increasing endurance like crazy. I can now feel comfortable hiking, swimming, biking any distance if invited to do so. I highly recommend triathlon to everyone here.

I have not had any trouble with feeding. It's smooth as butter. Yes, it has the jp adjustable gas block. I'm an FFL dealer so I got all the parts at wholesale, so my price was a bit lower than what most would pay. All and all I'm about $1400 in it not including the scope. I used top of the line everything in this thing, including trigger and barrel, so it could be done for less. I'll sell it to you if you want.
