So after a long search for acceptable energy ranges for different game species turned up no good results, I decided to create my own calculator based on a couple different pieces of info I found. I found a formula that calculates optimum game weight and tweaked it to give me what I consider a pretty accurate range. This calculator will give you an ethical range for which you should shoot, and will also tell you what game animals you could ethically take. Apparently we're not allowed to attach excel spreadsheets here, so below is a link to the file. Simply input your bullet weight and impact velocity, and it will give you a weight range and tell you which animals can ethically be taken. I've got a pair of the Viper HD 15x50's and love them! They're amazing. I don't have experience with the Kaibabs or Swaros so I don't have any comparison there, but I love the Vipers.

I was at Cabela's yesterday for some last minute Christmas shopping and they had a couple AR's on the shelf. By a couple I mean like 2. Also, the checkout line for guns/background checks was backed all the way to the escalators in the back. CRAZY! I was going to pick up a .22 they had on sale but forget that line. It did appear they were still selling the semi auto weapons though. Just dang near sold out.

I just ordered 10 mags yesterday, now they're sold out. Got 5 pmags a couple weeks ago too. Should be alright for a while.

I've been wondering all morning what kind of person could go and shoot and kill dozens of kindergarten children? That is just sick, and makes me so sad that there is that kind of evil in this world. I am thoroughly disgusted and profoundly disturbed. I'm just in shock. They're helpless kids for goodness sake. My prayers are with the families dealing with this terrible tragedy.
