According to who? Rains have been below average this year so unless they just had a magical season nothing should be above average. Problem is who decides what average is? Every year no matter what there's monsters that get killed. Where I'm planning on hunting early archery bull they are about 150% above average for rainfall year to date. I would definitely have to disagree with your statement of below average rains.

Go with the hoochie mama call. It's easy to use and the elk love it!

It seems like they've stopped growing, but I'm seeing some pretty good ones so far. I'm getting excited for Sept.

Zamberlan 960 Guide GTX RR Boots - Size 44.5/10 - Brand NEW
kazpilot25 posted a topic in Classified Ads
I got these boots and they're a half a size too small. They're brand new with tags and everything. The return process is kind of a pain so I figured I'd just try to sell them here first. They're $350 boots so you're getting a smoking deal. I typically wear a size 11, but they're just a hair too small so I ordered the next size up of the exact same boot. These fit like a 10.5 even though the box says 44.5/10. Here's the link to the specs: http://www.zamberlanusa.com/catalog/index.php?lang=en&pg=prod&idprod=210&idcat=17 $220 OBO -

Ok I forgot to send them back in time. Someone needs these with hunting season coming up. $230 OBO. -
My uncle and his crew from work all drew 12AW October tags this year with 0 points. An application of 4 people with zero points got 12AW tags. That's just maddening.

I run a big buddy heater in my popup, it works great! I prefer it over the built in heater in the trailer because the trailer heater is noisy when it kicks on and wakes me up every time. It heats the trailer just enough and is never an issue, even when running on high all night.

7mm-08 vs 6.5 creedmoor
kazpilot25 replied to bonecollector777's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I own both and love them both. I own a Tikka T3 Stainless in 7mm-08 and a Sako A7 Stainless with fluted barrel and a brake in 6.5 Creedmoor. I also had a custom AR-10 in 6.5 Creedmoor that shot dimes at 250 yards. Of the two calibers, here's where my breakdown is: Accuracy: 6.5 Creedmoor Recoil: 6.5 Creedmoor Ammo Accessibility: Tie Ballistics: 6.5 Creedmoor (barely, as they're pretty dang close) From my experience with several 7mm-08 rifles and 6.5 CM rifles, I can say that the 6.5 is an inherently accurate round. Much more so than the 7mm-08. You can literally get some off the shelf ammo and a $400 Ruger Predator rifle and shoot .75 MOA right now with 6.5 CM. 7mm-08 will require some tuning with handloads to get you there. -
Hey guys, I'm taking the family up to SW (Durango area) CO tomorrow for the week. Has anyone been up there that can give me some recommendations on places to camp (dispersed on a river/creek/lake is preferred). Also looking for good fishing spots (both for myself fly fishing and the young kids lake fishing). Finally, any other activities in the area you might recommend. I'm heading up with my 2, 4, and 7 year old girls to give an idea of ages for activities. Thanks guys!

I think I'm going to check out Hermosa Creek. Hopefully we'll get a halfway decent spot on the creek. Thanks for the BBQ tip, I'll definitely hit that up too. I'm planning on hitting Phil's World tomorrow morning. Heading to Cortez tonight, Phil's World in the AM, then up to Durango/Hermosa Creek.

I think we're going to head up and try to find a spot in the forest off some of the creeks West of Purgatory. Anybody been up there?

Thanks guys. I'll check out those places. Any good fishing lakes for the kids?

After many years of waiting, I finally drew my very first bull elk tag. I'll be hunting bull elk in 5BS in September, and I can't wait! With that being said, I don't know jack squat about that unit. I've hunted in 6A, but never ventured over into 5BS. From what I understand, the majority of the hunters will be around Hutch Mountain, but so will a majority of elk. If anyone has some pointers to get me started in the right direction I'd definitely appreciate the help. I can offer up some knowledge on other units, just not this one. Thanks guys!
