I'm in 7 but it's the same date. I can't wait. T-minus 10 day and counting... Forecast for Flagstaff looks like it should be cooling down just in time.

I've got some hunting buddies that are the same way. After about 30 minutes of fruitless glassing they're off their glass texting, facebooking, napping, whatever. It drives me nuts but it's better than hunting alone (usually). It's so much better when the area we're hunting doesn't have cell service! ha.

Now that's just wrong. They didn't even skin it? Come on people! I'm a firm believer in field dress and skin ASAP to get that meat cool. What a waste.

If you have to choose one over the other I'd say the 15's all day. I will also say I had the Vortex Viper 15x50 HD binos and thought they were great... until I got a pair of the 15x56 Kaibabs. There is a big difference in color, sharpness, and clarity. I also just added a Vortex Razor HD 65 to my arsenal as I though the same way you're thinking. Sometimes I can't tell exactly what I'm looking at from that distance. The Razor HD was a great investment. I will not be going anywhere glassing without it. It's a must in my pack from now on.

I figure a game bag would help with the bugs, but I like the pepper idea too. I never really thought about it freezing... hmm...

I went up and did some more scouting over the weekend, and helped out on a random youth hunt. Couldn't find anything for deer except 1 doe, but again we saw plenty of elk (1 very nice bull) and a ton of antelope. It was a great experience. Now just hoping to locate some bucks. Hmm...

So doing some prep for my scouting trip this weekend I came across a couple of these in an area I'm going to. Anybody know what it is? None of them are on the topos and I am wondering what they are. I'm thinking water tanks, but not sure.

I have a forest service cabin rented for my upcoming hunt... Hopefully there's at least a temporary resolve to this issue before 10/31. I really dislike Obama, but I really want to stay in the hunting cabin. I'm torn.

I have no experience with them, but have heard nothing but good things. I was looking into this when I got the Razor HD and did some extensive research. Pretty much a clone of the Razor HD, with some slight differences. I just didn't want to go with the clone.

Hunting the southern units I use the Cabelas Seclusion 3d open country. Up north I use Realtree AP/APG. I just got a set of C4E gear in Mountain Mimicry, and I really like that pattern as well. Seems like it could be used in either one.

After reading this thread, I've ordered a Havalon from the CWT store, and ordered a Razor Blaze as well. I should be set!

My first "real" set of binoculars were the Diamonback 10x50s and they were great for the money. I have since upgraded to Viper HD 15x50 and then again to the Kaibab 15x56. There is a vast improvement at every upgrade step along the way. PM sent regarding value.

Congrats on tagging out in August! I'm actually planning to hunt up North in the PJ stuff. My experience is that the peaks area gets hit HARD, and feels like there's a hunter behind every tree. Not my cup of tea. I'm planning on being way up North and glassing. I've located a couple water sources not on topos, which will hopefully give me an advantage. We'll see.
