    Cleaning Gloves

So last year I accidentally left my blood soaked gloves in a zip-loc bag for about a week after my javelina hunt, and they STINK! I have washed them numerous times and tried all kinds of different ways to get the smell out, but they still smell of dead carcass. Does anyone have any ideas to get the smell out? I've heard baking soda might help, but haven't tried yet.

    Cleaning Gloves

Ya I know, I always use the rubber gloves and field dressing kit, but while butchering back at camp it was hovering around 10 degrees and I couldn't handle it anymore and threw the gloves back on. Thanks Kaffer, I'll try soaking a couple times and see what I can do.

    Cleaning Gloves

That's what I figured. They were nice scent-lok gloves that I was hoping to keep around as a backup, but that smell sticks to my hands every time I wear them. Kills me.

    Baiting Javelina

R12-4-303. Unlawful Devices, Methods, and Ammunition 4. An individual shall not use edible or ingestible substances to aid in taking big game. The use of edible or ingestible substances to aid in taking big game is unlawful when: a. An individual places edible or ingestible substances for the purpose of attracting or taking big game, or b. An individual knowingly takes big game with the aid of edible or ingestible substances placed for the purpose of attracting wildlife to a specific location. 5. Subsection (A)(4) does not limit Department employees or Department agents in the performance of their official duties. 6. For the purposes of subsection (A)(4), edible or ingestible substances do not include any of the following: a. Water. b. Salt. c. Salt-based materials produced and manufactured for the livestock industry. d. Nutritional supplements produced and manufactured for the livestock industry and placed during the course of livestock or agricultural operations. What is "bait"? For the purposes of R12-4-303(A)(4), the Commission considers bait to include any food-stuff or ingestible material (such as corn or wildlife feed) that has been deposited, scattered or piled, or delivered by a passive or active feeder or feed delivery system, so as to constitute an attractant, lure or enticement to wildlife and to influence the movement of these animals for the purpose of harvest by hunters. "Bait" does not include: water, salt, salt-based materials produced and manufactured for the livestock industry; nutritional supplements produced and manufactured for the livestock industry and placed during the course of livestock or agricultural operations; decoys, scent lures (provided they do not contain cervid urine), or chemical attractants provided they are not ingestible; or food plots planted within accepted local or regional agricultural guidelines. The restrictions on baiting would not apply to practices that provide essential necessities for wildlife, such as water or salt licks and supplements developed for livestock operations. Greater availability of natural resources, including water and salt, actually promotes broader distribution of wildlife and healthier populations.

What's your most important piece of hunting gear?

Bwaaaahhhh haa. I know you said besides binoculars, but I do have to say, you can't shoot what you don't first find. I would turn around and go home if I left my binos. Of all the other items none really stick out as essential...except of course the TP I agree with you there. The single most important piece of equipment for me is my binoculars. I'd say for me, a nice butt pad is right up there with the essentials. It makes the difference in glassing for 8-10 hours or not.

    MEME's

    Ha. I love the typo.
  15. I finally decided it was time to get some Swarovski 15x56 binoculars after being frustrated with the edge clarity of my Kaibabs all year long. When I first got the Kaibabs I thought they were awesome and I loved them. After spending more time this year hunting and glassing than any year before, I realized they weren't as great as I originally thought. The edge clarity was not very good at longer distances and I found myself having to pan more often due to the smaller usable FOV. With that being said, I decided it was time to go big, so I did. I got a good deal on a new set, but they didn't come with a tripod adapter. I'm hoping someone can weigh in on what my options are and what the best choice may be for an adapter. I know there is Swarovski one that runs about $140, or the outdoorsman tripod adapter that runs about $110 with the stud. Are those the only options? Would the Vortex uni-dapter work?

    Swarovski SLC HD vs. Non-HD

I'm looking to upgrade from my Vortex Kaibabs to Swaro 15s and am wondering if I should buy the current model SLC 15 NEU or wait and pay an extra $900 for the HD? Will the HD be that much better? Anybody have experience with the other (10x42) SLC in HD and non-HD that could chime in here? Either way it's an upgrade from the Kaibab, but if I'm spending that kind of money, I don't want to regret not getting the better one.
