Mule Deer Unit 9 encompasses about 1,600 square miles. Mule deer can be found throughout most of the unit, but the highest densities occur in the ponderosa pine and pinyon juniper woodlands. Much of the unit is on the Kaibab National Forest and maps can be obtained by calling the Williams Visitor Center at 928-635-1418. Adjacent lands are under state and private ownership. The Grand Canyon National Park (GCNP) is on the north end of Unit 9 and hunting is NOT allowed on the park. The GCNP boundary is fenced and signed well. Sportsman traveling forest roads need to be aware that some roads parallel and some enter into the park. It is unlawful to enter the GCNP with a loaded weapon. Access is not a problem in Unit 9, but it is every hunter's responsibility to know where they are and respect private property. Sportsman should obey all signs and leave gates as they find them. Please respect private property and always pickup litter, even if it's not yours. These acts of kindness go a long way to ensure access onto private property.

You could get a used non-HD pair of 15x50 Vipers for that price. Seems like a lot of people are unloading them. Not sure what you are in the market for but the Razor seem to be better glass. Looks like the HD's are going for about $1300 new!

I had mixed feelings about this guy freeing this yote until he cut the last wire. Looks like he was in a snare meant to catch him. I bet that rancher was pissed!

There was also Archery Deer available too. I didn' see the cost for Non-Navajo tag. Wonder what it is? Here is a great deer from the same spot last year in Sept. Turns out those weren't my most recent Elk pics (snow) but I did have some of bigger bulls last Sept.

I work in the very southern portion of 13 a couple months of every year, south of I-40. There are a lot of good bulls in that area (McNary, Ft. Wingate area) but that is on Depot land or Forest Service Land. Not sure about trophy sized bulls. That small strip south of Gallup might be easy pickings. I have some pics from last Sept but can't figure out how to upload them.

I use http://topomapsapp.com/ I think it was $6.95 but it has saved my butt more than once. You need to download the topos you need before you head to the field or it uses a lot of data. You just drop a pin to your location and give it a description. "Truck", "Glassing Spot #1", etc. You don't need cell service for it to work either. My only regret is not having a bigger phone like a S4 or Note to view maps. i5 works good though.

Looks like I got my 3rd choice. Unit 35A Oct25-31. My buddies have that hunt so I will just join their camp. Was 10th in line waiting on azgf main office. Went pretty quick though.
